• • • Welcome to the Seventh Annual Scraps to Treasures Challenge QUILT SHOW.

For those of you new to the boards, let me tell you a little bit about our challenge. Seven years ago, actually it was probably eight when I first saw the Scrap Bag Challenge on Simply Quilts. The one that really caught my eye was Tom Russell's Quilt. That's when I came up with this idea to challenge my friends here.

In order to participate, the challengers send in a pair of six inch squares with two different values for each challenger. Think of it like an ABC swap. Then with the help of the Madison Ladies, all the squares are sorted so each challenger has exactly the same fabrics to start with.

Let's not forget to thank the Madison Ladies, because without their help, I'm not sure I'd still be doing this challenge. Thank you QuiltHappyMaryWI, LindaWI and KarenB. And a special thank you to CQWannabe for driving all the way up from Illinois to help out this year too. Big Grin

Once the squares are delivered, all they have to do is create a quilt at least 36x48". They can use a pattern or do whatever they want. Some additional fabrics are allowed, but they must use a minimum 2" square from each of the fabrics swapped.

It still amazes me how each can take the same set of fabrics (plus a few extras) and turn them into something so beautiful and yet, so different from each other. These ladies are so creative and talented. I would like to thank each and every one for taking the time and passion to participate.

This year we have 30 beautiful quilts for you to view and enjoy. The variety and workmanship is SUPERB! Each quilt is so unique and breathtaking. And the best part is, all of these quilts will be donated to charity. Each Quilt Maker will choose which organization their quilt will benefit.
Great job Ladies and THANK YOU!

Please take advantage of all the features available for viewing. I recommend viewing them as a whole collection before you begin. First, if the album information is on the right hand side, use the little arrow to turn it off. Then there is a slider on the top right to increase the size of the thumbnails. Use it to see all the quilts on the screen as big as possible. Make sure your browser fills your monitor.

Next, view them in slideshow mode and hit your F11 key for your full viewing pleasure. After the slideshow is done just hit the F11 key again. Then you can look at each quilt individually. There is also a magnifier available. You'll be able to zoom in and really see them up close and personal.

Once you have viewed the quilts, please come back and let us know what you think. You may also attach a comment to the individual quilts. I'm sure the Quilt Makers would love to see your praises and feedback. And don't forget about the Quilt Maker Contest (to be posted later today).

Now onto the QUILT SHOW.

• • • The Vote • • •

Now I need your help in choosing who will be honored. I know this is asking a lot, but these ladies deserve your full attention and I have some fabulous prizes to award. Your cooperation will help tremendously.

Everyone on this board is eligible to vote. In order for your vote to be counted, you must send an e-mail to the following addresses with VOTE in the subject line.

• • • • • Jayardi@wi.rr.com; sttchallengejudge2@gmail.com • • • • •

I have asked Lisa - TX to assist in the vote counting, just in case I have a chance of winning Wink. Please copy and paste the above to insure accuracy. Both addresses and your HGTV Screen Name MUST be on the e-mail.

There are a total of ten prizes to be awarded. Each of you will be asked to choose ten different quilts. Please list your top three choices for each category and choose only one for the Write-In.

Viewers Favorite - List top three choices
Best Design - List top three choices
Best Use of Color/Value - List top three choices

And finally, the Write-In - choose one quilt you feel deserves a prize and please explain why you chose this quilt.

Voting will be open through October 27, 2012. Your votes must arrive by 5pm CST.

We all Thank you for your assistance.

• • • One more thing, you can adjust the speed of the slideshow, in case it's going too fast for you. You can also turn off the captions, so they don't interfere with seeing the whole quilt.

You're welcome Rondi. I didn't expect you to be up at this hour. I was hoping to post it closer to sunrise, but I need to get to bed.

Enjoy the show everyone!

OH MY! Knew from the peeks this was going to be a good show - but these exceeded my expectations.

Going to be very hard this year to pick winners. Glad we have a few weeks to review and make choices.

Jean, thanks again for all your hard work in organizing this great challenge.

Hmmmm, now the tough part. Y'all just thought making the quilts was tough. It's choosing winners.

Jean, another terrific job on the challenge. I think a lot of people outdid themselves this time. I say that every year.

Boy, this is hard. What's more important to the quilter - Viewer's Favorite - or Best Design??

I need to put quilts in more than one category! Um... which way to go...

• • • I was very surprise to see there were hardly any views to this thread. I decided to change the name so everyone will come and see what's going on. I would hate for you all to create these wonderful pieces and no one gets to see them. So, be sure to let all your friends know. We're going to need all the votes we can get to determine the winners. I'm so very glad I don't have to make these choices.

J Lu, I truly hope you and all the newbies will play again next year. Did you find that peek you were talking about? And, do you still think it's going to take top prize? Wink

Now I am off to start the Quilt Maker Contest before Lisa has an episode. Big Grin

Well, I've gone thru them twice. The styles are so different I'm finding difficult to choose three favorites especially in the best design category. Actually I don't even know which three I'd choose as my personal favorites.

I WILL go back and look some more.

Please remember, you can only list a quilt once on your ballot. And please don't forget the Write-In category with your reason.

If you are having trouble determining which category for the quilts, then you can just send me a list of your Top Ten choices.
