I finished up this quilt from a free pattern from Fons and Porter
http://www.fonsandporter.com/a...g_daze_feline_frenzy

The dogs are supposed to be paper pieced but I just cut templates from the pages and pieced them instead.

I used fleece for the eyes and noses and ears. Easy to work with for machine applique but sure gets a lot of lint in the bobbin area.

The ears are designed to hang loose from the quilt but I tacked them down partially.

I was originally making this for baby Sam but now I've changed my mind and I'm making him a different quilt. Partly because I used a homespun for backing and it seems rough to the touch. That, and I just want to keep it...I love those dogs, lol. Pretty selfish, huh?

And the sides aren't really wavy...it's just the way it's hanging.

What a darling quilt. Totally OK to keep it for yourself. I've done that myself a time or two. If we don't treat ourselves, who will?

Reading your description of how you embellished it made me remember the children's books where parts of the animal were fuzzy so the children could rub them.

Very nice; brings a smile to my face.

That's such a cute, fun quilt. You were clever to applique istead of paper piece. I would have never thought of that! TFS.

Thanks for the compliments ladies. It was a fun quilt to make. I quilted by machine with some outline quilting and straight line quilting with my walking foot.
