Started mine. Have the 112 bricks cut of batiks. Trying to use up only scraps of white/cream and black for the 4 patches... sewed 9 of those. Have to lesson plan tomorrow, so will have to put it away until winter break (intense 4 weeks of teaching coming up), but at least it is a start. Am planning only to make one quilt since I hand quilt, iffy if I get the whole thing done by the due date anyway. I will probably end up bringing it to work (I teach in the library space, working with struggling students) to use during independent time.

Sounds like a woman with a plan!

Tick, tock, ladies! | ||||
Only FIVE more days to sign up for the swap! If you are doing Bonnie's EASY STREET mystery quilt, you already need to cut into your black on white prints, why not cut some extras to swap out?
Tick tock for those of you on the fence...only FOUR more days to sign up!
So tempting but I have to pass. I have to resist signing up for anything new until March/April of 2013. Too many UFOs to finish now.This message has been edited. KC...I'm not swapping but had to tell you. I love this setting...I may have to think about this quilt & setting for some donation quilts I'm always making...my goodness you can not run out of color choices with this one. May "In Michigan"

Thank you! Sometimes you need to vary a pattern. I've been busy making four-patches for the Bricks and Stepping Stones today before packing away my extra black and white noodles!
This is my crazy time of the year with a lot of volunteering so I just can't think of getting involved in another swap even tho the deadline is in January... Chris
No problem, Chris! We will have another Quiltville swap early in the spring if you are interested. I will also be posting the hexagon swap soon. I see no sense to post anything around the holidays as everyone is already taxed to the max and until January cannot commit to another project.
KC sign me up for the sew along from home roup. I am almost finished with my UFO's and I would love to sew along with you and Bonnie. I asked for light batiks for my birthday FQ and got some wonderful batiks. I think I will do mine with batiks also. PM on the way.
I have been doing some cutting
Warm Buns, glad you can join us! It's going to be fun to sew along with us! Last day to sign up is November 30th! So, send me a PM you fence lurkers, you!
Got 5 fabrics cut into bright bricks today, and picked up a few more at a quilt shop. I have a lot of novelties, and might add a few into the quilt. I'm looking forward to this swap. I see some overachievers signed up for several swaps!
Longjohn, as far as novelty prints, please read the swap guidelines on page one... "Please be sure that the prints you submit are small scale so that when you cut the swaps the patterns are not lost due to size. *NO SOLIDS, HOMESPUN, GLITTER, FLANNEL, THIN FABRICS, CHILDREN'S OR NOVELTY PRINTS* Wash and iron all 100% cotton good quality fabrics - please send good quality - they do not have to be quilt shop fabrics. Please do not send in any plastic-feeling, flimsy fabrics or THIN fabrics. They do not meet the guidelines? They will be returned." Of course, while novelty prints are not allowed in the swap, you certainly can add them to your own quilt! Since the sign-ups are close, you will see the maximum amount of sets you can send in next to each swap theme. KaribeanQuilter is already sew up a storm on her Strip Twist quilt! Here is our first picture for the swap. Looking good, KQ! ![]()

If anyone would like to share their progress with us, please post here or PM me for my email address and I can resize it and post!
I have fabric in the laundry now for Miss Maggie...I've also been saving the pdf of the mystery quilt instructions for later....thanks KC for letting us know when each is ready.
Sent a PM to all the swappers--Aliquilt and Asimplelife, please respond to the question on the 2 1/2" strips. Thanks!
Don't forget--this post is for you to share your progress and photos. You ladies working on your own project please check in and let us know what pattern you are working on and your quilt colors. I'm SO excited about this first swap/challenge and hope we can do this again with two more Quiltville patterns! So, if there are other Quiltville patterns you would like in consideration for the next swap, please let me know and we can include it in second swap poll posting!
Don't worry- The novelty prints I mentioned are indeed for my own quilt, since we only have 7 brights swappers. I have a large stash of novelties for making donation quilts.
I wanted to share with you a quilt I am making for my mother in her colors to go with her office--she has a couch and wanted a throw. I have a dark green for the inner border and if I have enough pieces left over from the noodles, I will do a piano key border.This message has been edited. Last edited by: KC1930, ![]()

KC that is beautiful!! | ||||
...and here it is with the border. Now, if I can find time to layer and machine quilt it before Chri*smas! ![]()
If you wonder, I used 2" dark green inner border and 4 1/2" piano key border.
Your quilt is lovely! | ||||
TTT - so I don't forget | ||||
| ||||
Spending the afternoon machine quilting the top while listening to Bonnie on quiltcam...what are YOU up to?
All done with the binding! Mom says she doesn't want to see if before Chr*istmas, but it is just a gift, not for the holidays. I'll take a photo of the finished quilt and post tomorrow. I did, however, use Mountain Mist for the FIRST time and it really does machine quilt nicely! It felt funny not using W & N!
| ||||
How is everyone doing? Any progress pictures to share?
KQ sent along her progress photo...looking good, Karen! And yes to your answer--you can have your quilt machine quilted by yourself or others. I just did mine in the ditch in about an hour. ![]()
Just remember players that this is due in my hands in four weeks as of today!
Very pretty - I have two more fabrics to cut for Miss Maggie and I can get them mailed. I had an "oops" moment while cutting one of the first batch and had to dig out another bright to take its place, which turned into two more 'cause I couldn't make up my mind but one that I had cut may not go to be swapped - these two are much better
Keeping this to the top, ladies~ How are you doing????
Now that Christmas has passed and I am on the road to recovery from a sinus infection, I'll be checking the fabric that I cut to see how many sets are already done and how many I have left to cut. I'm sure that I'm at least 75% to the maximum on the bricks!
Take care of yourself, my poor mashed tater!
My bright bricks for the swap are cut and packaged. Will mail them next week. Think I'll do a black and gold 4 patch for my quilt.
| ||||
KaribbeanQuilter--what a sweetheart--send me this lovely table runner and placemat, which I plan on using in my bedroom as dresser scarves. Thank you, friend! Oh, and our friend Quiltaholic send me a small suitcase with a homemade fruit cake. I LOVE fruitcake and both Mom and I agree this is the BEST we have ever tasted. No picture of the fruitcake, but if you look closely to my thighs, you will see.... ![]()
How you ladies doing???? I hear rotary cutters humming on this end!
How YOU doing? | ||||
KC - Miss Maggie's bricks went out in the mail earlier this week. It was either Wednesday or Thursday....for the life of me I can't remember which Now I'm off to pick up my glasses - it has been 6 weeks of *&^% - a call to the corporate headquarters with a promise to go through the credit card company resulted in today's "supposed" ready state....we'll see. It will be so nice to be able to see clearly again *sigh*
moving up Sadly, still no glasses but I have a 50% credit on my card - now it is Tuesday. Cross your fingers please.
Your package arrived today, Linda!
It's coming, it's coming.... Left today
Lucky for me that I had all my fabrics cut and swapped out before my accident! Can't wait to see what brights come my way!
My bright bricks should be there by Monday.
Do you realize it is almost the middle of the month - time is flying by way too fast
