Sorry, Nik. I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot the local P.O. has cut their hours on Saturdays and the counter was closed by the time I got there. Can you believe they were closed by 11 am? We are a dinky little village, so I suppose I should be grateful that we at least have a post office! Lots of places are losing theirs. Monday for SURE!!

ETA: and please do open it as soon as you get it!

sew2quilt, I am cery happy you received it. I hope you like it especially since I used a different technique. I find when I make these small quilts it is the perfect forum to try different things. You must have a very strong will, not to be able to open it. I would be peeking. LOL
Mandy on cafemom, I usually finished fairly early as well, depending on the swap. My favorite ones were the postcards. I do have to be veryenthused about something to get it done in a timely manner. I usually am an intense procrastinator.

Quiltinana2, I have your little mug rug finished. It will go out in the mail on Monday & I hope you like it. The technique was a first for me & I think if I use that technique more often I will eventually get the hang of it. I'm pleased with it. This was a fun swap.

Nicki - thank you. I'm sure I'll love it! Yours was mailed today, Monday, I have the confirmation number if you would like it. I sent it first by "normal" mail, got in the car, had second thoughts and went back in and had him fish it out of the cart to add delivery confirmation to it. You hear so many horror stories about things disappearing in the postal system. I participated in the Rainbow mugrug swap and the first one Tisme sent me never did show up. She was such a sweetheart and sent me another one.
Expected delivery is Thursday!

Oh my gosh, I won't get mine finished and in the mail to sl2q until next week. We have company coming in and all my sewing stuff is all over my dining room. My house is in a complete mess, so I will be cleaning like crazy today, they won't be leaving until Monday, so I'll be working hard to get the mug rug to you ASAP. So sorry for the delay, I hope you aren't too disappointed.

Califshrimp,
I'm so glad you got the rug mug already. I didn't take a photograph. Guess I was in a hurry to mail. I made an American flag and used a house block in the star area. I put a heart on the door of the house. With 3 in the military overseas my heart is with them.

OMG Nik - I just got home from downstate and your fabulous mugrug was waiting for me! It's lovely and I am so honored that you "experimented" on me. For not having made anything with paper-piecing before, you have done a wonderful job. Even the snow on the tree is perfection! Thank you, I will treasure it.
If you have a photo of it, could you post it for me, please? It deserves to be shown.

I take it that mine didn't get to you yet? I hope you like it but it's nowhere's as cute as yours!
Thanks again, Joan

Quiltinan2, I'm so glad you like the mug rug. I normally don't send my "experiments" out to others but I thought it turned out o.k. to give to you. Paper piecing is not easy for me but hopefully the more I practice the better I will get at it. On the "practice" one I did before the real one, I would put my pieces of fabric in the wrong place & would end up with no fabric to flip over...Frown...or cut too little fabric & then when I did flip it over it would be short. YIKES, I have a long way to go. I'm so glad you like it.

Yours did not come to me yesterday but I'm sure it will be waiting for me when I get home from work today.

Here's a picture of the rug I sent:

Thanks Sandie, for the compliment. I can't make up a pattern (or anything for that matter...Wink). I found the pattern on line. Do you known how hard it is to find a 5 inch paper pieced pattern of a home? I think I can find it again if anyone would like to have it. The pattern came in 5" & 8".

Glad you like it Sandy, I was wondering about the house thing. I just don't do houses, then it hit me out of the blue. I can do a dog house. The rest just fell into place for me. It was fun to do and the lettering I must confess was a fluke. I didn't like the red color and decided to do it in over using yellow. The line up mistake the machine made looked planned although I must confess it wasn't. I'll be realighining my hoops and taking my machine to the doctor if that doesn't work. The rug was fun to do although I was apprehensive at first. Enjoy!!!

Major malfunction, possible time delay.

Machine must go to the shop.

About finished and pressure of foot went kerphlooey. Can barely sew two pieces of fabric together without jamming up. I know it won't sew over anything with a thickness to it. Tried it and it was a sad thing.

Will get back on this as soon as possible.

Got mine from City/Sandie on Friday. Good job. I am getting quite a collection of these. Hope to have yours done by the first of the week. Got a idea in my head now to get it on the mug/rug. I don't do paper peicing so my ideas are limited.

applebetty, I don't do paper piecing either but thought I'd give it a try for this swap. It took a bit of practice & several uses of my handy, dandy ripper but all in all it was not too bad. I would suggest starting with a very SIMPLE pattern.

Sewlove2quilt, I am very happy that you like it. I drew the outline and then using Derwent's Inktense pencils and Aloe gel to make it permanent,(yes it is washable). I then colored it in. I usually use them for Art quilts to all shadows or dimension, but I made a quilt for my mother and just colored peices of fabric very brightly then paper peiced it into different patterns and it came out lovely.
My husband recently broke my camera while on vacation, so I was unable to take a picture.
