Okay, despite computers freezing and sore muscles from the weekend, we've finally got the sign-ups ready for the 2012 12 Days of Christmas Swap. Below are the details:

DETAILS:

Each participant makes 12 handmade gift items (may all be the same or 12 different). They are to be gift wrapped with a “From” tag showing your board name on them and mailed to hostesses. In order to keep things somewhat organized, please ship all packages to Quilter Chris (QC). She will send you her address when she receives your PM. When all have arrived, we will swap them around and send each player back 12 Wrapped Gifts. We will all open them together, one a day, starting on Dec. 12, 2012. We will be opening our last one on Christmas Eve.

SIGNUPS begin now and close on November 1st. To sign up, send QC a PM stating that you want to play and giving your Board Name, Real Name, mailing address, a phone # contact, and email addy. QC will send you her snail mail info. Participants will not be added to the list until their info PM is received. Remember, the more the merrier, so let your friends know about the sign-ups, too.

You can mail your packages any time you are ready. (Please put 12 Days Swap on the outside of the box.) The gifts, however, must be mailed to QC so that we have them by November 25th. That will give us about a week and a half to get them swapped and mailed back to you by Dec 10. We know that this isn’t as long as we gave you last year, but sometimes life interferes and we’re sure that a lot of you have already started working on your gifts anyway. PLEASE USE DELIVERY CONFIRMATION ON YOUR PACKAGE. It only costs a dollar more. Send a PM to QC with your confirmation number once your package is on its way.

We will be mailing the packages back to you using USPS Priority Mail boxes so you must include $16 for return postage (the large USPS PM box costs $14.95 plus the DC charge). Cash or check (PM QC for her check info if needed). We may be able to use the smaller USPS box depending on the size of the gifts. If so, any change that you have coming will be returned with your packages.

RULES:

The only hard and fast rules are:

Nothing Fragile
Nothing Perishable
Nothing with odor (perfumes, smoke, animal dander, etc.)

Please don’t try to skimp by and send something too cheesy (like a yoyo with a pin on the back or a piece of recycled wrapping paper torn into the shape of a tree with a piece of ribbon through the top) and call it a gift. Make something nice that you would like to receive. The gifts can be any items you personally make and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on them. They don’t have to be a Christmas theme; don’t have to be sewn or quilted items. In past swaps we have had everything: jewelry, knitted items, tatted items, crochet items, pot holders, Christmas stockings, small wall hangings, oven dresses, hand-made greeting card sets, numerous craft items, etc. Also, try to vary what you’re sending as a lot of the same people are in this swap from year to year and will already have an item from previous years.

Keep your gift item a secret so we can be surprised. Hints and ticklers, though, are welcomed and help generate excitement!

DATES:

Signups begin now and end on November 1st. The packages must be in our hands by November 25th. We will swap the packages and mail back so that you all have them by Dec. 10. Opening begins Dec. 12 thru Dec 24. This year, I get to be #1 and Quilter Chris is #2. Who’s next?

I am thinking about it. I just have to think of something I can finish in the next 3 weeks! I'm having shoulder surgery end of October and don't know how much I will be able to use my arm. As soon as I find the Pattern and see how hard it is I'll let you know. I do have an idea of what I want to do.

I do hope that you can join us, PatriciaAnne, and, btw, welcome to the board. We always love to see newbies on here. In the meantime, we are now up to seven with Ely (happy to see you back). And we still have 27 days of sign-ups to go!

Good morning ladies and welcome to all 15 of you who are with us for 12 Days 2012. We had a fun time last year with many interesting gifts. Lets put on our thinking caps and see what happens this year. More info to come after we close down the sign ups on 10/15. For newbies this is a very easy way to get your proverbial feet wet with exchanges or swaps. It still gives you license to do your own thing without restrictions. LOL. Quilter Chris

I agree with Chris, this is a very fun swap!!!! The first year I was in it I am thinking there were 50 some people. The host posted pictures of the wrapped gifts laying all over the floor in the room she was using to swap packages out. My mail lady would kill me if I took in 50 some boxes to mail!!!

Can't wait to see all I will receive. I always let somebody go thru and number mine so I don't have to decide which one to open daily!

Welcome to our new swappers. Besides adding their names to the list, I added a few more numbers. Since we didn't want to start with too many numbers at first, I only started with 20. I really would like to see a lot more people come back to this swap. When our dear friend, Pat, was doing it, one year there were over 60 swappers. I'm not sure how we'll do with that many, but I am sure that we can get it done. So, please tell all of your friends about this swap and get them to sign up before November 1st. Thanks all.

Well Linda thank you for adding me to your swap. I'm excited now to be a part of someone elses Christmas family. Christmas is a big deal for my family but to me I'm still like a little kid. I have an idea ready i my head for my gifts. Can't wait to get started.

I would like to do this but am drawing a blank on what to make. Can someone give me a few ideas please.
