Welcome to the 2012 Stashbusting Thread.

I am Gonesewin and I will be starting a new thread for each month for everyone to post pictures (If at all possible) or tell about your stashbusting efforts. It does NOT have to be quilting! This can be any kind of sewing!

There are just 2 rules to join us: what you make make should be mostly from stash and it should be finished during the month you post it as finished. There are no signups, or swapping or... Just this thread. Everyone is welcome!

cksvett has graciously volunteered to send out surprises each month. Your name will be entered each month when you show or tell us about your stashbusted project. On the first of the month when I start a new thread, someone from my family will draw a name and the winner will be posted on that new thread. If your name is drawn please send your mailing information to cksvett so your surprise can be mailed to you.

New This Year ! Royalboomer has graciously volunteered some of her "extras" as prizes too! So what I am going to do is this: Those who finish bigger projects or do multiples of 5 smaller items from stash will also be put into a separate drawing and one will be awarded a prize from Royalboomer each month!

Cool Beans, huh?

SEW, let the stashbusting continue!

Well I think I will start this month off. This is the top that I finished today. all from stash but I had to buy some fabric for the backing. This is for a dear friend of mine whos DH has stage 4 cancer. This is for when she is feeling blue she can wrap herself in a hug from me.

I received a very delightful generous package of things from Royalboomer today. I had a post with a picture all typed and it vanished. My picture size was a little too big and the site I use to resize things is not working so I will have to try again at another time. The package was just beautiful and full of so much inspiration! I will have to get busy and make something from the wonderful things she sent! Royalboomer--you more than made my day...thank you! Amy

My April chick is all from stash. These are lots of fun but they sure don't use much of my stash up.

I bought this book several months back and hopefully can do each of the 12 months eventually. This is a picture of the back cover and each month fits into the middle of the section I finished. The name of the book is "Quilter's Dozen Plus" by Janet Selck.

http://www.valleyforgequilters...BlockOfMonth-Pg.html

All of this is made with stash and tried not to get 2 of any one piece of material.

Wanted to add that this was all made with my treadle machine except for the quilting part. PS Do not really care about paper piecing!!!

I am trying to post a picture of my prize from Royalboomer. I am experimenting with a different program so it might not be a good picture! I see the picture did work. Can't wait to play with some of this!

I'm going to try posting another picture. The original picture is not very good as it was too bright outside when I took it. This is inspired by a pattern called Applejack. I have added the black borders and colored the pieced lipstick border a little different from the original. I also changed the corners of the lipstick border from the original pattern. This was a UFO from 2008!

This is a second attempt at resizing the close-up! I am getting some practice using the program on my computer. The original picture is not the best either, but at least it will give a better idea of the quilting and fabrics.

Hi all,

Wonderful results ladies. I am doing the BOM chicks and finished my April blocks. All of the blocks made so far are from my stash, and until I finish. I am using Chr*stmas fabrics which I have lots of.

Sorry I've been away from the board for so long- been canning, drying and freezing produce these past 3 weeks and that's kept me busy!

What a wonderful thread to find!!!! I've never participated in the Stashbuster threads but I think I might do so this year. Thank you, Gonesewin.

Handi Anne, your quilt is wonderful. So full of love. Your friend will love it, use it and be comforted.

Mountain Laurel, your chick looks like lots of fun. Maybe small in stash usage but big in smiles.

Goaskmom, that's a great quilt. I love the flying geese. That would use up a lot of scraps, I'm thinking.

Imaquilter, love the lipstick border!!!!! How big are they? I got lots of 1 1/2" pieces in my stash.

Marion, I recognize that 'potholder' pattern; what a great idea putting them together that way. That wheelchair bag is a great use for the upholstery material. BTW do you have a thing for those bags. Nice one you made for your Aunt.

Rainbow, do you have a thing for rainbows?????

Angela, very nice crazy quilt.

That's super block you made, fishingwidow. Those Xmas fabrics worked well in that block.

What a fun twister quilt, sewlove2quilt!!!! Love how you did the border.

McPatches. String quilts...always wonderful. The blue and yellow go great together, don't they?

Ohhh, GardenPat. I've seen that pattern and think it is so lively and spring-like.

Elaine, that wouldn't be a RWB block I'll be seeing in a couple weeks, would it? Like the way those colors worked for you.

Delightful projects, all.

I, also, have something to show. I see you have a prize for large completed projects; how about small projects?

As I was working my DGGSs quilts, I got tired of reaching around my machine for the pin cushion so I came up with this little 3" pin cushion that attaches to my machine. And can be removed, easily, to put the pins back in the big one when the little one gets full. Believe me, everything in the pc is from my stash. Scrap of fabric, filler from another pc and even a piece of plasticized cardboard for backing that I use when paper piecing.
