Well quilters, we have officially completed (almost) our doll quilt project for the year 2012. I have 6 quilters who have yet to send in their quilts but I have heard from each of them & I know they will send when they can.

This has been such a rewarding & awesome venture for me as I have been given a glimpse of how wonderfully caring you quilters are & what humongous hearts you have ... full of tender love for children who are in need.

I asked for 50 quilters to step up & help Debbie in South Carolina supply quilts for baby beds, strollers & cradles that the Greenville Woodworkers Guild is making for several charitable organizations for children at Christmas.

Here is a link to her blog that explains the project:

http://stitchintherapy.blogspo...oll-size-quilts.html

http://stitchintherapy.blogspo...ink-i-need-help.html

http://stitchintherapy.blogspo...laus-on-project.html

I was hoping for 50 quilts to represent all of the states. To date, I have received a whopping 126 quilts from y'all. I don't know how to thank you enough for all that you have done. So many sent your "state" plus additional quilts. I asked for quiltie "angels" in case I needed someone to help fulfill the 50 state goal & 16 of you stepped up to fill that request. Because of the outpour of quilts I did not need to call on the angles but I want to shout out a big THANK YOU to you who volunteered to step up if needed.

This whole effort would not have been sucessful without all of you. I am so grateful for the precious time that you poured into making these quilts for stranges who you will probably never meet. The children will be so happy to receive the strollers, beds & cradles with quilts made from loving hands.

This is going to be an ongoing effort each year with Debbie & the Woodworkers (this is the 2nd year they have done this). I have already had several of you say you want to make quilts for next year which is awesome. Next year I would like for you to send the quilts directly to Debbie as that will save on double postage...postage from you to me & then postage from me to Debbie. I can supply you with Debbie's address. You can make the quilts throughout the year if you wish & send them on to her as you have time or wait until closer to Christmas. Please be sure & include a little note to her letting her know that the quilt came from our HGTV Quilting Board. As we get closer to the end of 2012 I will think more about what we can do in 2013.

So here is a re-cap of what has been done:
1. Received 87 quilts from those who committed to send.
2. Received 30 quilts from Kim-Strut's friend, Patti.
3. Received 1 afghan from luvthose quilts (who did not commit at the beginning.)
4. Received 4 quilts from Angie in NH (who did not commit at the beginning.)
5. Received 4 quilts from Quiltlady928's Senior Ladies (who did not commit at the beginning.)

THAT'S A TOTAL OF 126 QUILTS!!!

Thank you all so much for your generosity. I wish I knew of a way to repay you for all your kindness. All of the quilts were so beautiful & wonderfully made & I enjoyed getting to look at each one individually & up close.

Thank you again & again.

The pictures of the quilts as they have come in have been thanks enough for me! Just knowing how much the people on this board care is the best present.

Thank you for all of your coordination efforts in this endeavor. I know those kids are going to be thrilled on Chris*tmas morning.

Thank you so much Nicki-you are an angel for doing this.

Ya know life happens! Youngest DD got hit-totalled her car. She is ok. I have been without a car. This is the 2nd car that got totalled on same street and same area. I wish people would slow down and stop blowing red lights and stop signs before you kill my child!! Or anyone else's!! Banged up but ok. Her car was a Mustang convertible-40th Anniversary edition. She loved that car! But it can be replaced.

Sooo I will mail my little quilts by this weekend for you-sorry to be late
None of us will ever drive that street again!!!

Hugs.

Pam,

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter & the accident. I'm glad she did not get hurt...a car can always be replaced but a child cannot. Take your time on getting the quilt to me. I had to put a deadline date so I used July 1. But these are for Christmas so anyone who could not meet the deadline still has plenty of time to get them to me.

P.S. Anyone who wants to make & send in more will be more than welcomed. Just send them on & I'll be sure to see that Debbie gets them. If you want to send directly to Debbie, I'll be glad to pass her address on to you.
