If the background is green, then you're okay. If the background is red, then you need to run your cleaner and get rid of it. There are instructions. Next week we're going to have fewer messages here because some of you won't have any internet service. It's not just Facebook or Google.

I'm green. Last night I saw this on the news, but I couldn't get on the site. It kept timing out. I had no trouble early this morning, when I was the only one awake. So don't give up if you can't get through. Try again later.

My internet service provider notified us several months ago. I think before Christmas, but not sure. Anyway, checked at the time and had no malware but checked again yesterday just to be sure. Why on earth do people want to do this? If they were quilters they wouldn't have time to do this.

I'm green. Hope that was a safe link to click on....

I just want to ask where the link you posted came from? I have read the articles on the CNN website, and there is a link advising how to check your computer and your servers, but I never saw this link???

The link is from the FBI website. They have an article about the entire arrest and where folks can go to find out about it.

Thanks Kathy. I was only wondering because my friend decided that if he clicked on it, it would GIVE him the virus. lol I had sent it to him in email. He wanted me to "find out for sure if it is safe"! I told him that "quilters are trustworthy, specially HERE." He just shook his head.

I don't know if he checked his computer. But, I am GREEN.

Linda, our local librarian, told me yesterday that when they checked the library computers they had the virus. It didn't take long to fix and now they are green.

I get so irritated when I get wild warnings from friends. 90% of the time they're a hoax. I check with Snopes and other resources and they continue sending me trash. But this is going to make hundreds of thousands unable to even get on the Internet to fix it. I copied the website from a CNN technology show. I've heard about it for months but I checked and double-checked this one. It was such an easy check. Wish all were this easy. There's been so many quilters hacked this spring I bet lots aren't running any updated security software.

I am GREEN however the warning says that if we in the reddirected by the FBI group we sould see green .. so it's important TO keep an eye on it ,..

What does this mean???? ....reddirected group???

... Re directed is what the FBI did when they got to the criminals - shutting it down would have left millions infected and no way to find out who or be able to fix them.. adn the theft could have continued.. so they, the FBI, set up dummy ISPs to redirect the criminal hacks .. that redirect system is what will cancel tonight at midnight - it's been in place a few years - this was actually discovered several years ago - cyber crime can be very difficult to find and then eradicate..

... actually neither did I, had been hearing stuff, but had only half taken it in... decided to go read it and then listen on FOX as they explained it ... geeez .. some amazing minds able to do amazing things, and they use it criminally - what a waste ..
