This is our weekly thread where we post our goals for the week. They're your goals, so make them as simple or complicated as you want to. Then let us know if you met them. We'll cheer for you if you met them, commiserate with you if you didn't.

I never had a specific goal this week, it was to watch youtube videos of crocheted ruffly scarves, which I did. This week I want to get one going.

Your goals?

My goals this week are to finish a couple of small quilts as gifts for friends. I am also making a table runner for each month this year so I want to do that.

I bought an iron on Wednesday so I am back sewing as long as the electric lasts in this ice storm. My new iron is a Black and Decker, not expensive but at least it works for now. It is heavier than I expected though.

I will have to look up the Youtube videos of the ruffly scarves. A couple of my friends are making them.

Deb, look on youtube under crocheting with sashay, or something similar. There's several different techniques. The one I want to try was by plastic canvas something.

I am in the process of quilting the baby quilt and I am also working on a Christmas string block quilt that will have some blocks in it from a swap we did here. Can't remember what year that was but it has been in my UFO collection for a long time. I am going to try to make it a full size or a large throw at least. Mindless sewing but still needs to be done. It has been so bitter cold here in the mornings that it takes awhile before I can get started. Hopefully by Monday it will start to warm up into the 30's.

Test results did not show any evidence of can*cer in my body so I am can*cer free. Hallelujah!! Pra*ise G0d!! Thanks you for your Ts & Ps.

What is everyone else hoping to get done?

Carolyn

Finished 8 chicken pin cushions. Plan to work on more-may try to start on the quilt again-but depends. Chicken's don't require much effort or thinking so I suspect it will be more chickens.

Stay warm and safe everyone who is in cold weather places-ice storm warning here in East Tennessee today.

My goal this coming week is to finish topstitching my Baltimore Halloween blocks. Only one 10 inch block left which is half done and a 20 inch block to do. I also need to size up some courthouse steps blocks and lay that out to sew together. Maybe I will do that Monday at Guild sewing day. It is for the Historical Assn for a raffle. I will also quilt a few quilts. I need to plan two charity pieces also that are due in March. Better start thinking about them.

This is a great thread. I really like it. Keep up the good intentions everyone.

Mountain Laurel, so very happy for you! I have kept you in prayers and He did keep watch over you!

One goal for this week is another birthday block for the exchange I'm in.
Maybe I'll get started on string blocks which have been on my list and the strings sitting all over the place!

Carolyn- that's wonderful!!!

I looked over my shoeboxes of strips, bricks and squares and picked out a pattern to use my 2-1/2" strips (4)2-1/2"x4-1/2" bricks and (2) 2-1/2" squares of each of 40 dark fabrics and (80) 2-1/2" light squares, (22) 4-1/2" light squares and (9) 6-7/8" light squares. That should use up some of my shoebox scraps and since I cut them out from project leftover fabric ahead of time, all I have to do is pick and choose! Easy-peasy!!

The pattern is from a favorite of mine- Scrap Basket Sensations and is called "Island Chain". It will be a large lap quilt.

Hopefully it will be ready to finish up by mid-week. Then, I'll need to finish another baby quilt UFO. (I try to only allow myself 1-2 new quilt projects before I force myself to finish a UFO! I know, none of you have that problem! )

My goal last week was to quilt two donation quilts. I should finish the second one today, then get the bindings on them this weekend, hopefully. I want to do the HGTV BOMand today I got an invitation to a family baby shower for the 10th, so better get busy on a little boy's quilt. Trouble is, I promised someone else a quilt for her little girl and she will be at the shower and I can't really show up without one, lol. So I'd better get off the computer and into my sewing room.

I will be working on another redwork block, doing good with getting one a week done.

I really wanted to pull fabrics for my CQJP, but all CQ fabric is in tubs in the basement and going down there in this freezing temps is not gonna happen. So decided to put that on hold till next week.

I do want to get fabric pulled for the Fish BOM, and work on those. Going to Joanns for underwater fabric, but going to use stash only for the fish.

That should be about it for me.

Okay, the thread starts on Fridays!!! Good to know!!! Red Face: My goals - today, pillowcase!! I want to do a Christmas project, or work on something that I already have going every 25th of the month: keep me working on these projects through the year instead of suddenly going "It's NOVEMEBER!!!?? Already!?? I have so much to do....." uh, this year, I want to have the "to-do's" - done.... so since today is a 25th day, pillowcase for ME is going to be done! (I made everyone else their's last year and somehow mine got forgotten.....Confused So now, I will have one too!!!)

I got all my blks for the quilt I am doing finished yesterday - so for the weekend, I want to work on it's pieced borders and I really want this quilt done and ready to be quilted by Monday.....

And then I am planning on working on the blks for the BOM I started last year and ended up just collecting the blks at the end... Red Face: No more collecting. By next Friday - no, Thursday!!! I want to be able to report that I got it done!!!!m

Oh boy - I have just made a commitment haven't I!!! Eek

It's all good. Now to turn off the TV, find my pillow case pattern and make it happen......

I had to come back.... I just read all the goals and you are an insperation!!

Deb - I love the idea of a table runner for every month!!! There are so many to choose from (I keep buying patterns Roll Eyes and it would be so much fun to change them out!!!) that is a great goal - Have fun with it!!! And may the electricity stay on and you get a good arm work out with your new heavier iron 'cause you'll be so busy on your projects!! Wink

Jane, the HGTV BOM blks look good!!! And at the end, the quilt you get is - well, it was last year, beautiful!!! Have fubn!! And I love mug rugs!!! (note to self - make some then!!! Mad ) Wink

MountainLaurel - Stay warm and GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!! Yes T&P's work!!!! Group Hug

May Baby if you work on that quilt again, even just a little bit, eventually it will be done and out of your creative way.... Just a thought. But, enjoy the chickens!!!! Big Grin

quiltslots - the Baltimore Halloween quilt is beautiful!!! You have a busy week ahead of you - Have Fun!!!! Smile

Malou, go get those string sewn down so they don't take over your room - or whole house!!!! I have heard that can happen, so be careful!! Wink And enjoy doing the birthday blk!

Sue, good for you getting your goals done!!!! I hope you do it again!!! Big Grin

Pat, I love having useable pieces cut up and ready to go from other projects and you have written why it's such a good thing!!
I am going to have to go and look up the pattern.... And yup, I am sure you will get your goals done!!!

Joan, you are a quilting mad woman!!! Do both quilts (baby) at the same time and they will be done in no time - either way, have fun sewing up a storm this weekend!!!

tisme - good for you getting a redwork blk done a week!! And I like the using only stash in your next project, except for the background and that is a great plan. Hope you find exactly what you have in mind for this when you are out!!!

Char - you can do it!!! Get the Sylvia blk done then go crazy on the border blks and you might just get more then the 10 done!!! Who knows!!!! But have tons of fun while you work on it and enjoy the process!!

I am supposed to be finding my pattern so, Lets all sew up a storm this weekend and make it hot in our sewing areas!!! Lets loose ourselves in the fun and enjoy every second!!!! Bye for real this time!!! Wink

First the most important comment.....
Congrats to Carolyn for the great news. I'm very happy for you.
Now let's see. This week I want to clean and organize another closet. I want to finish quilting the HGTV BOM for 2012. I bought the batting, have the backing and just have to sandwich and quilt it. I also want to make a few more chain blocks, but only if I get the other 2 goals done. That should be enough for me to finish, I think. Pat

I didn't meet this week's goal because DH didn't get the table done. Guess I should make a weekly goal for him?! ha Hopefully, he'll be feeling better and can get his part done this week. Then I'll be able to finish re-organizing my "studio". It's looking pretty good already. I plan on finishing the pillow cover that's started. And get it sent to its new home. Maybe even finish the handquilting on a wildlife panel. That depends on how many quilt-cams Bonnie has this coming week. Tomorrow I'm going to fill the oven and crock-pot so I can concentrate on the important stuff....

This week I will get the last borders on the 2012 BOM. I know what I want to do so I should be able to do it. I also want to get two quilts quilted. Lots of other things I'd like to do but I'd better keep me goals small or I'll just get overwhelmed and do nothing.

This weekend, I'm going to finish my mugrug for the initial it swap. I have to get that thing in the mail soon! After I've finished that, I hope to piece another baby quilt for IMQ.

If I get a baby quilt finished this weekend, I will be free to work on my nephew's birthday quilt during the week - I have til the end of Feb to get that done, so if I can get another couple of blocks done this week I will be happy.

gardenpat -- I'm looking forward to seeing your version of Island Chain. I did that using batiks from my stash and found it to be one of the most difficult tops I've ever made. Hard to keep those links going in the right direction, even with Kim herself helping out. Turned out great, but.....

You always amaze me anyway with your ability to turn out project after project.

My goal is to finish two "biscuit baskets" made from 2 1/2 strips and fill them with little gifts for birthday gifts. My theme for one is "bath items", the other is "sewing items.

Carolyn, glad to read about the good news.

Well, the closest I got to meeting my goal was deciding what pincushion I want to make for the swap, and cutting fabric for 2 of them.

I did get one done today & it took a lot longer than I anticipated...but I really do like it! So, my goal this week will be to get some more made...maybe 3 or 4. If I stay off the computer (or at least shorten the amount of time I spend on it) I can do the stuffing & hand stitching part after I get home from work at nite, while I watch TV.

My goals last week were not met as I caught whatever my students had and found it is quite hard to be crafty with a muddled mind. I completed my hexies but I counted them way too many times. I did plan a QWL block and bought the fabric for it as well as a cute EPP doll quilt using Aneela Hooey's Posy line.

Not sure when the fog will clear but did sign up for a Hexagon Table Topper class and an EPP pincushion class so will go to those, even if I need a mask.

I've got to shorten the sleeves of my blue sweatshirt. They hang down past my knuckles and make me look like a gorilla. and shorten my new jeans. Two rolls up is too much for these mom's jeans. i don't really need to look this bad!!!

Made a block from an antique quilt picture in the new McCall's quilt magazine...i liked the orignal quilt better than the adaptation.

Need to make a pillowcase for a friend's baby and work on QWL blocks. And more mending for hubbs.

GREAT NEWS Mt. Laurel!!! Smile

Well, I just spend the day in and out of my sewing room - the mess mostly went into my bedroom (it's good hubby works out of town...) and then spent the rest of the night (it's 12:43 right now) and I basically just got - well, what I am taking out of my room, uh, more like, off the bed, done and now I am going to tell you why this thread is going to be an important tool for me this year. I decided to write down how many things i have on the go right now, that need to be finished. no, I did not include tops that need to be quilted - for right now, THEY ARE DONE!!!!!! But when they get back from the quilters, they are back on the to be finished' pile. And i did not include my kits that are waiting to be opened (some have been waiting a long time.....) But anyways, I have a total. I thought I had about 50 things waiting. I was wrong!!! Big Grin I only have 48!!!! Isn't that great!!!!

So now I can really plan my week!!! I am going to bed now. It has been a loooong day!!!! night!!

Mt Laurel, so happy for you! Such good news!

Bought some deer panels. Then I dug out some panels that I had. I am now on the quilt from you know where. Was going to use assorted color/prints in the alternate spaces. Had the first section of three done and I didn't like it, but really liked one of the prints I had used. But all I had was what I had used. Started unsewing, but left together what I could. So two quilt shows and a trip to Joanns finally got a brown fabric that would work, but still liked my original fabric better, but what are you going to do? Then I misscut the largest piece I needed, so had to piece that. Well, I have ended up with lots of y seams as I try to
put this back together.

My goal for the rest of the weekend is to finish this top and retain my sanity... Chris

Love that Island Chain quilt Pat! I'm going to be on the lookout for those Stash Sensation books.

Got another birthday block done which was one of my goals but the string block idea has been put away for now. Instead I did some sorting and organizing in the sewing room and made decisions about some really old fabric. Was busy with some outside of the house things so didn't sew as much as I thought I would. There's always next week!

I will re-think my goals for next week (tomorrow's list) and make them happen this time!! Big Grin

Pat, another fun project!!! Looks good - yeah you!!!

char77 good for you getting a Sylivia blk done!! I was going to do a Sylvia quilt years ago, but that desire has past..... some things have to be left behind, but I still like them and love seeing the blks!! And above when I said I only had 48 projects on the go.... I was wrong, the count is now over 50 and as I remember, getting larger... Eek
So I really am going to need the support or the weight of the comments on this thread to keep my head in the game and my ideas in check..... So no comments about of tomorrows goals okay??? Red Face: PROMISE that it will be one of the quilts going to be quilted and FINISHED this month!!

Well I met my goals, phew! This list is great motivation to keep focused. I finished my donation quilts, finished doll clothes for my DGD and wrapping up the Stars mugrug this morning. I have fabric all ready for the shower quilts, one boy and one girl and have found patterns for them both.
