... WOW.. got home at 12:15 this morning after a 2 1/2 hour delay for hail and lightening storms in Denver.
This was the trip of a lifetime and I am already planning for PA. I'm still hoarse from laughing and talking and not sleeping enough. Did I mention laughing? Oh man - if we could bring world peace with laughter - we would have it bagged!
LuLu's Cafe was the first stop in the morning .. thank you so much Malou and Don.. yum yum coffee cake and coffee and juice and .. other yummy stuff. Mr Rainbow the fastest smile on the planet - and so ready to drive us around and just be helping where it was needed. Thank you Mike.
My roomies were wonderful - downright AMAZING people ... Jackie, Judy, Jill, Jean 1 night, Sandy/Ilove my 4 kids/Pinky .. and the place was beautiful. THE TEAM did a blue ribbon gold star job of getting this retreat together. And all the BEHIND THE SCENES workers ...wow.
Thank you to everyone that made gifties and shared from their stash stuff .. and gaveme blocks - I have not go ne thu it all yet - dying to try that homemade soap though.
An especial thank you to JAYARDI (Jean) who tried so hard to teach some of us the impossible - to tat ... HAHAHAHHAAA a few - others remaining unnamed - MAY have made bigger messier knots than I did - but I doubt it.
And all you gals in my class - what a riot you all were - I laugh every time I think of you underachievers! .. and how about those OVER achievers?!? Way to go girls! YOU made this whole thing so worthwhile for me.
Meals were well planned, outings were fun, Tshirts are very nice ... weather was grand ...
and Missouri people were all welcoming and friendly
...my friends from Leavenworth Kansas came to drag me back to where I said I'd never go again,
our 25 year reunion was just the best. WE went to Lunch Sunday at a place there in Branson and the hostess actually followed us outside and right to the car - just chatting with these old friends from far away! Now that's friendly!
The ride was very pretty on Monday - and I swear, you could have dropped me off at the front gate at Fort Leavenworth, and I would have been totally lost - it's all changed that much. The max prison I worked in is totally gone and rebuilt so far back on the post I'd be scared to drive there at night!
I refuse to allow another 10 years to pass before I take a vacation or another 25 years to pass before seeing special friends.
Thank you to all of you who were there - you made my first COF so downright special.
CBQSandie, Rainbow, Shauna and leader lady Lindsay - thank you.

I cannot change 'things', but I can change how I feel about them. Me.

I'm so glad you came. You were a great teacher - even for we "problem children". LOL.

It is always nice to hear that we've all made it back home safely. I look forward to seeing you in PA.

Here it is Big Grin! Sandie taught the class on continuous prairie points and it was so cool! Thank you to Rainbow for giving me a piece of fabric to use, since I came unprepared--that's what signing up for the retreat three weeks in advance will do to a person!

At the end of the class, Sandie showed us how you can wrap the little string of prairie points around a Styrofoam cone to make a Christmas Tree. She held it upside-down to keep the prairie points in place and I noticed that she looked like the Statue of Liberty. So we fancied her up with a strip of the points on her head and here she is in all of her glory.

• • • That's a great photo.

Sandie, it was a pleasure to meet you and I am sorry for keeping you up so late on Wednesday. I do have a tendency to do that. I probably should come with a warning for sleepy heads. "Beware, may exceed your bed time." Big Grin

Sounds like your class was totally FUN. Sorry I missed it and I am truly sorry we didn't have better luck in my class. I never realized how difficult it is to teach tatting. Next time I'll know better and keep it closer to one on one.

...hahaha Jayardi that was funny - the warning thing .. it wasn't late for me, remember I'm West Coast .. it was the morning at 7 a.m that killed me!
And please don't think you were less than stellar at teaching .. oh my no .. YOU were so patient .. and so intense! I had to have a white dot on the back of one combat boot when I was in basic training .. so I could remember left from right and I was 34 years old! So please don't think you were responsible for my being so clumsy and dense!
I got home still hoarse from so much laughing - and maybe a bit of talking Smile ...
lets do it all again!
