Can't wait for my match-up! It's like opening a prize envelope when I receive my email. Now the annual dilemma- Does the toe of the stocking face to the Right or Left?????? Help?
I will be waiting for my SSSS's name. If you still need an Angel for a stocking, you can put my name in. SueThis message has been edited. Last edited by: sister sue,

Ok so I've been up all night thinking. I think I drank to much coffee yesterday. Got out of bed at 4:30 I'm not sure what day this is yet. Are you posting our matches today? I'm glad I'm off today. Retreat tomorrow then Georgia bound. We're praying the weather hold up for us. Wish me luck.
Just got all the addresses together and will start notifying each one of you one at a time with the name of your partner.
Kuddos to my hubby for picking out the names- he was rewarded with bowls of my very own homemade chicken soup It's going to take a bit of time so be patient please. Elaine (Quiltingnewbie) will be notifying some of you for me as the list is long.

Nickilee , Did you get my PM ?? I may be the only one who has NOT made their stocking yet .... But I am drawing a blank ... How are youall deciding what type to make ?? This year I know very little about my partner... Soooo Im having a hard time .... Any suggestions ?
"It is not our Abilities that show what we truly are but our choices."
I haven't totally decided on the details of the stocking that I'm going to make. Does anyone have a preference about the direction that the toe points for their stocking? I know that this came up last year, but not much chatting about it this year. Here's a picture of the needlepoint stockings from the L.L. Bean site.
Well, the picture wouldn't post but here's the link:
First, when I have a minute I will be starting a brand new SSSS 2013 Thread where we can all start uploading pictures of the stockings we are making (you can post pictures but do not mention who the stocking is for.
I will outline all the Guidleines again and also mention that stocking MUST be in the mail to your SSSS NO later than Monday, December 17th. I would like for EVERYONE to have their stockings before Christmas - no exceptions please!
KMouse, I personally am rereading my SSSS's Wish List and will try an make her stocking according to things I see she likes - like her favorite colors.
A few of you have PM'd me asking questions about your SSSS's likes.... ie. English paper pieceing vs regular pping. I will try and get your answers for you as soon as I can. I'm a bit maxed out at the moment so when I have the time I will contact them.
My stocking pattern is cut out... my fabrics have been chosen and hopefully I will start on my stocking this week.

I didnt go exactly by the listed questions but I encluded quite a few of the answers. Would you like me to go back and answer them as they are asked? I could do that if it is a problem for anybody. &:^) I sure dont want to be a problem for my own stocking! LOL
Wish I knew which way to point the stocking for my recipient. The only time I think about it is for this swap. Went SSSS shopping today. It's great to shop for someone else- "Almost" guilt free, knowing I'm not adding to my stash. Found a great idea for making my stocking- will have to see how it works out. Was going to start sewing tonight but spent the rest of the day working on yard cleanup before the big storm coming to NY. Don't want all those plant pots to become missiles in the wind. Time for hot cocoa and sorting through the Christmas fabric bin. This swap is starting to get me in the mood for the holidays.
I have done some shopping and planning for my special person .
We have been listening to Christmas music here since September. My kids are both in a play at the beginning of December, so they have been working on learning lyrics and choreography. It almost seems like time to put up the tree, but I know that it is too early for that.
It seems that all of the commercial needlepoint stockings have the toe pointing to the right. We have a few of those, but I have wanted to make new ones for my kids--maybe I'll get around to doing that this year. Lori made me a very lovely stocking last year in this swap and the toe points to the left. Seems perfectly appropriate, as I'm left-handed . I'm fine either way, but stress over the one that I'm making . . . Last year, the stocking that I made had dupioni silk as the cuff and quilting cotton for the body of the stocking. It wasn't embellished, so it could hang pointing either direction. Decisions, decisions . . .
Anyone wokring on their stokcing yet? I've got my pattern drawn and cut out now need to fiugre out the color combo and of course whihc poiece of lae I'll be using.
When you have some pictures to show - please share!

Nickilee- I have my pattern and material. Thinking of making a prototype first, to see how it turns out. Don't want to mess up the stocking that I am givng, so I want practice first. LOL Sue

I started the stocking and am trying it in the colors she likes, not holiday colors. Is that weird? Maybe I need to switch and make it traditional holiday colors. I am going to the LQS tonight. Any thoughts?
