While the kids were here for Thanksgiving, Bailey, 8 yrs. old wanted to learn to quilt. I'm making me a snowman quilt and she wanted to make one too. I thought OK a block. She wants to make 4 blocks, and for her second one she is designing a reindeer. I would show a little and she would finish it. It's a snowball block. Pretty good so far and she loves it.

I started to teach my GD too. She is so enthusiastic and it gives me lots of joy. I bet you are feeling the same way. I love it when we can pass on something like quilting to the young generation. Have fun.

Each granddaughter had her first lesson with Grandma at about age 5 or 6. The oldest - the one I thought would really like it - was extremely proud of the small quilt she made over a long weekend but is not overly enthused. The younger one really took to it. We sew together quite often. I love that we have something we can really bond over - I always wanted that with my grandmothers (though I didn't know what it was at the time) but never really got that. Have a wonderful time with her!
