SewHappy, Your quilt turned out even better than I thought it would and I thought it would be Great.
Anael, Yours is beautiful.
Becky yours turned out lovely too.
Handie I'm loving the fall colors in your quilt.
I went to the LQS and bought another different fabric for my sashing, I'm thinking I need to stop trying to figure it all out (dithering as my MIL would have said) and start cutting and sewing. Pat

HI all,

Love the blocks finished and the quilt tops.

20 lashes with a wet noodle for me. I haven't got the last 3 months done. Too much holidaze and running around. After I get caught up here I will be finishing up - better late than never - I hope.

This has been a fun project and I loved the results.

Absolutely beautiful!! I have about another hour on the missing small blocks from an earlier month and will then have 9 blocks completed...this will be going to DM to use in her "chair" where she spends most of her time during the day and it is very cool in there so the smaller size will be better for her...besides, at the rate I produce no one wants to wait until the missing three have been added Smile. I love seeing the finished creations knowing we all started out with the same basic block for each month - all are so different and yet so beautiful.

Everyone's blocks/quilts are looking great.

My DS has been home since the 20th so I've been sewing while he's sleeping or off visiting, I want to spend as much time as I can with him. So I'm slowly getting the border made. I think it is going to look to good!!! I can't wait until it's done and can show it off.

I need two people to hold it up so I really wanted to finish it before DS left but I don't know if I'll make it or not. Unless I get a lot of time to work on it today I'll not get it finished in this year. But it will not be a UFO for long in 2013, I really like it and am anxious to put it on the bed.

Keep calm and carry on

love all the photos - I'm meeting with my board members of my guild today and taking along my first 3 blocks that I stated last year to see if they might be interested in a BOM type project for the guild...? I'm the activities coordinator this year and was told that they are tired of doing block lottos every month... so we'll see. I have other ideas too. But mostly wanted to say that I think CBQ and Ivy did an outstanding job on this years BOM for the board and I'm looking forward to finishing mine this year - after my surgery during the summer, them moved to the new home, quilting got put on hold. But I'm ready to get back to it! Smile

Here is mine done with six of the big blocks. I added the borders and will use it for the Quilts of Valor projects. It is 65 x 84. I could not get a picture of the entire quilt but you can get the most of it. I have been waiting for DH to hold ir up for me, but he has been busy so I did not want to wait any longer to post.

Fabriks, a new thread was started each month with the directions for the main block and the mini blocks. The easiest way to find them would be to use the "find" tab at the top and search for 2012 HGTV BOM and add each month individually. Just to get you started, here are the first ones. http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/for...173982457#4173982457

http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/for...093925557#1093925557

http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/for...593946657#8593946657

You don't need to do them in any particular order. And you don't have to do them exactly as shown. I had a lot of leftover units (HSTs, flying geese, etc) from previous quilts that I used in place of some of the mini blocks.

Thanks so much for your quick answer. I'll do some surfing and make notes about the blocks used. This looks like a great quilt. I'm not much for mystery quilts -- I want to know what they'll look like first. Kinda takes the mystery out of it...I may have to keep up on this year's BofM too. Good excuse to sew from stash. And make another UFO...

Hello my stitch friends! Some of you are participating in the 2013 and have already heard my little story about my 2012 BOM blocks but I am posting here too in case some of you haven't.

I did not make the November and December blocks because the months got away from me and I also wasn't totally pleased with the remaining florals I had in my stash. I was not going to buy more fabric now when I am trying to use up stash!

So, when I laid my finished blocks all out the September block just didn't go at all with the others so I pulled it and ended up with a lovely 9 blocks that will be my 2012 BOM quilt. I had to give myself permission to not complete the entire year of blocks...really had that as my goal. Once I did, the rest was easy!

The September block was R-W-B and I ended up using it as the center medallion for the Quilt of Valor that I signed up for.

Here is my pieced QOV with the September 2012 BOM as the center medallion.

CBQ and Ivy, thanks for understanding!

Alex, when life hands you lemons make lemonade. What a nice quilt. No one said they all had to be used just as we made them. Your design is very nice. Doesn't it feel good to have something done??? I was looking for a backing for my 2012 quilt, but everything I have is too small. I'm trying to be frugal and use some of my stash so I might have a pieced back. We'll see. It is my weekly goal to finish by next week. ;0

Patty, I love pieced backs! I think they are interesting! I do make them that way usually because I am trying not to have to buy more fabric but then once they are all finished I think I like them better than a solid back anyway! Good luck! Would love to see a pix when you get finished.

Nine 2012 blocks will make a very nice quilt and if I recall the 2012 BOM did say "Make it Your Own"! So I guess you're not the "rule breaker" you thought you were :-)

I finished putting together the 9 blocks I finished. I posted a pic on the thread asking for ideas for borders. This was a lot of fun even if I didn't get them all done. I only threw out one Smile The other two I just didn't get to. Definitely stretched my skills - in a good way (well, except the one I tossed - it didn't look that complicated, I think my brain was just not operating that day.

The plan is to decide what to do for the border - get it done and hopefully have it ready to give to Mom for Mother's Day. She's always cold now.

Thank you for all the work you did putting this together. You rock!
