Great Great Grandma's shirt... Sign In/Join

This is DD wearing a shirt that belonged to her great-great grandma Mary. It has metal snaps under the buttons so it can't be any older than 1890. My Granny Freida (Mary's DD) was around #4 or 5 of her six kids and born around 1910. Does the style or fabric give any of you any other clues to it's age? TIA!

ETA: the white is DD's t-shirt

I'm not sure how to age it other than knowing what years she lived and narrowing it down. But how cool is it that you have it!!??!!

Is that a band at the waist? If so, that's the early 1900s to fit under those fitted much less frou-frou skirts...like the suffragettes.

Found this...maybe helpful?

Barbara Brackman has a book on dating fabric...maybe that would help...or is there a mark on the snaps? Possibly could find out from that.

Oh how special to have that piece of history in your house!!! Like your Great-Gramma almost there! Big Grin
