Question sounds duh but the pattern pcs would be the same size we print on regular sheet of paper or are they larger. In other words which picture do we click on to get the template pattern on the site.??

Please do not spray baste these to your blocks. We dont want anything sagging after they are stitched.

Please use lightweight fusible per the rules...

Tami.. I am sorry I missed your reply.. Please forgive...

emb... the question was answered on page one in the tutorial I posted...

Click on the photo on the main pattern page and a new photo in shades of gray will pop up. Right click the gray toned photo and save it to your pc. Then print it off.

Quote: this photo should print out at 6 inches square on your printer paper. Quote

Please go over to the tutorial and look it over real good and let me know if you need anything else. I just want everyone on the same page when they do their blocks.

I am going to up the due date to May 15th to give us 3 months to do our blocks so hopefully that will entice more to play.

I'm still pondering...didn't get to do a test block yet as my sewing machine is in the shop...I've been sewing on a small Janome I bought second hand, that sews beautiful straight stitches, but has no blanket stitch...before stepping up, just wanna make sure my other sewing machine is fixble and can be repaired Frown

I did run onto a partial bolt of a nice creamy tan background that I purchased a year or so ago when our local Spotlight had 50% off if you purchased what was left on the bolt Smile So unless I found something in my stash I'd probably be doing scrappy butterflies, but since it's a swap, scrappy is sorta the idea, so it'll be all good Smile

Im very sorry but Im bowing out of this swap very gracefully. It seems like something I couldn't keep up with and to many things going on in my life right now to be bothered.

emb.. Did you see that I moved the due date up to May 15th... That gives 3 whole months to do the blocks.

Does that help any?

This is tempting! When is the deadline to sign up? I see the deadline for having the blocks sent in but not for signing up. I'd like to try a block before committing to making enough for a swap but am away from home for a while.

Q, thanks for answering me about signup deadline. Sorry I didn't look for it harder. I won't be getting home until after Feb.11 so won't have a chance to make a sample block before then so I guess I'll not join this swap. It looks like fun but I really don't need another project anyway.

Gremgramma... Look back on page one... Kaylin posted a photo and outlined where each pattern piece is..

Her post is on Jan 26 at 6:06 am

The first photo shows the middle piece (body) outlined in green... She has it in the shape of an hour glass sort of ..

If you look at my tutorial I expanded it in to a rectangle just so no raw edges show where everything meets kind of in the middle.

We check out here in FL on Feb. 9. But we haven't decided what route we are taking home, might go to Savannah for a couple of days if weather forecast is nice. We also plan to stop in KY for a short visit with DS. So we will be getting home some time between Feb. 12 and 16. I would hate for you to hold things up on this swap for me when I'm not even sure I would participate until I try a block.

Q.just another question... do you require the fabrics to be washed for this swap? Most swaps generally do.

Just curious since I hang everything on the line here and that would be a lot of washing and pressing Razz Still waiting on my machine to be fixed.

I have hosted swaps for the past 10 years on the forum and have found that although you add it as a rule, there are some that will simply not wash their fabrics beforehand.

So I stopped adding it as a rule a long time ago. Of all the quilts I have made from swap blocks, it has never made a difference once the quilt was washed...

So, to answer your question, no... it isn't required.

Smile I called about my machine today, and hopefully it will be back tomorrow!

I am glad I don't have to prewash everything, I'm one of those who obeys the rules of the swap though...I think it is only fair to the hostess and the other swappers.

I find my seams match up better if I don't prewash...what ever is on the fabric prevents it from stretching so much, and I have learned to be a good girlwith the iron and press lightly...lol

OK. Sign me up! I just love the old fashioned look of these butterflies! I bought some tan fabric for the background today and raided my stash for butterfly fabric.

Now gotta get everything in the wash!

Thanks, Q, for hosting this swap.

Well for Pete's sake! I had finally decided to join on this one...even made an outside template to use when laying out the pieces so that the bottom tips are spaced right(2" 2" 2").

Now my blanket stitch is scrunching. I have tried every tension. But sign me up & I will figure it out.

Oooooooooooo, Kentucky Sunshine, I LOVE those fabrics! Can't wait to see the butterflies they make.

emb1157, when I printed the butterfly from the pattern on quilter's cache it only printed about 5.5 inches. I could only do a portion of what Q said to do. I saved the gray-toned picture to my pc but couldn't print it out from the pic file. I had to first create a word document and insert the picture. Then when I printed the word document the butterfly printed out 6 inch size. Also, in your test butterfly the upper wings should line up along the outside edge with the underwings. It looks like you upper wings are a little bigger than they are supposed to be.

This morning I made templates for my butterfly pieces. Hopefully I can start getting going on tracing all the patterns on the fusible!! Woo hoo!

Welcome aboard Kentucky Sunshine!

coreysmom... I am going to reserve that 12th spot for pvillelou until I hear from her... If by some chance we have several more sign up between now and the weekend, then I would consider you doing 2 sets... but if pvillelou is the only other one to join, then we would all do 12 blocks...and get back one of each persons... Hang tight until we see if pvillelou is going to join.

DH and I got home about 1:30 this afternoon. The car is unloaded but the suitcases are not unpacked and laundry is not done . . . but I have a butterfly block made! Do I have my priorities in order or what??? I need to tweak my templates slightly and possibly search my stash for a different fabric to use for the lower wings but - yes, I want to participate in this swap.
