So, it is started and I am so excited I just had to share....here's the first block in the Dear Jane quilt. Block A-1 - Pinwheel Gone Awry. I did this one on the machine. I had planned on hand piecing it but it was cooperating so I didn't waste the opportunity Smile

Can't wait to see a group of say 10 or so. I'd better get busy Big Grin

Good for you Royalboomer. I like the fabric you chose. Very nice. Will you be using this fabric through the whole quilt????
Keep up the good work.

edited to change it. I thought she was doing Sylvia's Bridal. I think I have Sylvia's on the brain. So I deleted my words about the 139 more blocks.

Very nice. And not too many more to do Smile What is the size of these blocks? If I remember correctly they are pretty small.

I like the fabric you're using. Do you use CW fabrics for these? I really like the Silva's I've seen, I suppose this will be similar, can't wait to see more.

Thank you all for your encouragement, it means the world to me. These blocks are 5" unfinished. First time I've ever done anything this small. I've been threatening to try these for some time - had trouble finding the Dear Jane book initially - bought a Dear Hannah as a second choice - then DIL found one at the Quilt Expo in September. So now, here we are Big Grin

The light colored fabric will be used throughout the blocks - other than that I have been collecting CW FQ's for some time and now they will get used - even if only in tiny bits. Smile A few of the fabrics I have set aside are not necessarily CW reproductions but I like them and they blend in well with the others so....the vast majority, including the one you see in this block, are the CW repros. Found a shop in Green Bay with an outstanding selection of CW fabrics - that's where I found both of the fabrics in this first block.

A friend in KY started this project a few years ago and then set it aside - now she's starting all over again with me so we can help each other through the more difficult blocks. We plan on working the blocks in order Al, A2, A3, etc. I think the next one is a candidate for machine piecing as well.

OK - you can really tell this project really excites me. Let's see how long it lasts.... Big Grin

You did a great job on that block. I just did 9 or 10 of the easiest blocks, by hand, then put it aside for someday. I admire all the Baby Janes who have stuck with it.

One thing that definitely helped ~ I went to Kinko's and had the book spiral-bound, and had them add clear plastic covers front and back. Then I was able to open it fully to copy the patterns, and the plastic covers kept the pages from getting dog-eared. It cost about 6 dollars.
