Welcome to the Sunshine Quilters - our website is http://webpages.charter.net/cmladronka/
Our mission is to bring sunshine into the life of our receivers.

Each member is asked to make a block for the assigned host each month. The host then assembles and donates quilts to the children's charity of their choice. Some help by making more than one block for a host or by sending other supplies to the host.

To join, post on this thread your intention to join and send an email to Char77. Rosy is the dear lady who came up with this wonderful project, we are very thankful to her for this unselfish endeavor. Please be sure to put "Sunshine Quilter" in the subject line of the email. Someone will send you directions and information.

Some of our members have just started quilting, while others have been at it for a while. We can use everyone's help. You can choose to host a month and donate to the charity of your choice as well as making blocks to send out to listed hosts.

Blocks are to be sent to the host members around the 1st of their month. If late, email the member with your intentions to send later. If you can't make a block that month, that's ok, sometimes life is too busy. Post here and perhaps someone can send extra blocks to the host that month.

The list of monthly hosts and their choice blocks (with links) is posted at the "Sunshine Quilter's website indicated above.

Well let's hope all those April showers will bring us May flowers! We're supposed to warm up into the 70s this week, so I'm going to get out and weed and get my plots ready for planting. I won't put anything in the ground until Memorial Day weekend, but I can dream until then!!

I'm glad that they arrived and that you are pleased with them. I found those brights on the 50% off table at Hanc0ck's "Spot the dot sale" recently and thought they'd be perfect for children's quilts. Wink Since I didn't do the sew and flip method I didn't mind making a few extra blocks for ya.

I'm not real good with Log Cabin blocks so I'll most likely skip that block - my 1/4" seams start to take up more as I add logs and I can never get my blocks to finish at the correct measurement....

but I'll jump back in again when I can. Smile Thanks for not being strict with this group. Wink

KC....I made two for you for Apr which will go out in the mail tomorrow, May 3rd. They are brighter than they photographed. Notice the lime green. Wink
I didn't have enough light on in the room.

I should have a couple log cabins in the mail by the end of the week. I've been having trouble for some reason keeping the colors in the right spot but after half a day of sewing/unsewing, I think they're right, finally! I have one more set of "logs" to add then can mail off.

So far I've received May blocks from:

char77
Elainetoo
Fayejean and
Quiltinana

Aliquilt, I look forward to seeing yours. Sorry they're giving you fits.

If anyone would rather send "quilter's choice" blocks instead, I can always use those, too.

Thanks so much.

Thanks so much.

I'm out of town this week, due to an unexpected delay in a family situation. But, my mail is safely on hold, and blocks will probably be delivered to me next Monday.

I'll post when I have them. Wave

I'll also be working on my May blocks just as soon as this bear of a week at work is over.

Last call for April blocks, ladies! I'll be putting them together starting next week. So, if you have any to send, please let me know. Thank you again to all who participated! Smile

Got one top done from the March blocks. Just need to get to JoAnn's on this sale weekend to get some backing.

Isn't it frustrating - that no matter how much stash you have - there isn't every the right fabric to use!

KC, if I can figure out how to size photos in picasa (I did print out their instructions), I would love to post pics of the lovely blocks received...then the quilts when they're done.

I've been helping family with move..packing and unpacking..so not much play time lately..but I'll try to work on the photo thing soon.

I do appreciate the nudge, since I have been known to procrastinate. Eek

Love the photos!

My job plus an ailing aunt and my mother cracking the whip with yard work and planting has put my Sunshine projects on the back burner. I'm pray*ing for a rainy day so that I can get the May blocks done!

Fayejean, I mailed a couple blocks to you today, hope you like them. Terriemae, did you receive my 2 log cabin blocks yet? They were mailed over a week ago. The ones you've received so far are beautiful. Elainetoo, the March block quilt is really cool. someone will love it. I received a couple blocks last week but don't have the envelope with me, Wiley, perhaps? They are very cute and I believe the 10 minute block pattern. Char77, those blocks are very cute and I can't wait to get them! I have a top assembled from one of the last swaps, just looking for time to quilt it. Thanks everyone.

Terri, thanks for finishing the block for me. My eyesight is still and will be always altered but I have started sewing again. I am trying to finish up a scrappy girl baby quilt for a shower this weekend. Then I will start work on catching up on Sunshine blocks. Love your photos. Thanks for sharing.
