I haven't read these the past few years. I've heard some of the more recent releases are better. Those of you who've read all, do you agree? Which of the past couple years are your favorites?

I liked the first ones better, there was more to the creating of the group then. I have the latest one on my Amazon wish list, but haven't decided to get it yet--price hasn't dropped enough for me!

The first ones drew me into reading books again, after years of not...then they went stale on me, too.
I thought it was here I'd heard a couple from the past couple years were much better again, but I searched & couldn't find any thread discussing it.

I wouldn't be able to tell you the title names, but if they are set in present day, I like them. If they are from Sylvia's childhood or relatives they didn't interest me.

You can usually find a website on the author and the books are listed and give you a synopsis so you'd know what they are about.

I find most of them at our library - so no cost at all! My kind of book!

I read the early books, but quit when she got so involved with Joanna and the Civil War. I recently read Sonoma Rose, and it was very good, just like her first books. I'm with you, dd. I get mine from the library. I would have been very upset if I had paid for the 3 or 4 books that were about the same subject.

I loved reading all the books, both modern and the historical/older ones. But the last couple bored me. Almost too much repeating of old stories and everyday boring stuff. I am reading the one about the wedding and can hardly get through it. People sitting at a table. People eating food and talking about the wedding. I think a new one just came out this month, can't remember, but I don't have it. I hope it is better!!

I read the latest one and was not impressed. Boring. The first couple were a nice easy read. After that, I lost interest.

My husband showed me a website--FanTastic Fiction--That has authors, the books they wrote and a snyopsis of the books. It is a really great website. You can find out what books are coming out, New books that are great reads.
I read all of Jennifers books and enjoyed them, but did think they were getting kind of repitive. I'm looking for another series author, but haven't had much luck lately. Pat

I read the latest one, I agree, it was boring. Too much details that was not important. I loved the first ones. I enjoyed Emile Richards series that had a quilting theme.

Marie Bostwick has a Cobbled Court series that centers around a quilt shop and deals with contemporary women's issues. Some of the books in the series are better than others, but I was able to check them out of Wisconsin's digital library. I have found our digital library a great source of entertainment. I download books on my iPod and listen to them. It would have been better to begin with book one and go through the series, but there was a long waiting list, so I started with #2. I am still waiting for book #1, but I was able to enjoy the rest of the series while waiting for book #1.

I have also listened to a few by Monica Ferris. She has a needlework series that is available through our digital library. This is not a quilting series, but it deals with needlework of all sorts and it is interesting to learn about various types of needlework discussed in this series. These take place in a needlework shop. Some of the same characters are in each book (workers in the shop plus a few of the same customers). Each book is a different murder mystery. Some of these are better than others too.

I really enjoy listening to books while I sew. I would highly recommend seeing if your community belongs to a state digital library. Our community just joined last winter and I have already listened to 70 books! Communities do have to pay a fee to join a digital library. I am happy that our community joined as it is one service that I am actually using! You don't have to leave home to check them out!

I've just started one on the Kindle..so far good.. "The Giving Quilt: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel"

For something to read inbetween series.. Just finished "The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club" by Wanda E Brunstetter. It was good.

I've read all of the Elm Creek books. I own all the Elm Creek books. Currently I'm about half way through the newest one "The Giving Quilt". I agree some of them are a little repetitive, but I still enjoyed them all.

I read the earlier Elm Creek books and enjoyed them...then one went back in the past repeating information already included in all of the other books. It was like Chiaverini had a publishing deadline and had no new material. That book was just full of fluff and filler. I lost total interest in them.

I just went to Amazon to read the summary. I think it was The Quilter's Homecoming, but am not positive.

Thanks for the good ideas in books, I read the Amish book and enjoyed it very much. I've read some of Emilee Richards books, but not all of them. After I get some of my projects finished I'm going to curl up with a good book and some hot chocolate covering up with a quilt. Nice. Not today though. Sue left me with orders to finish something. Guess I'd better or she'll come again and get me moving. LOL

Does Sue really crack the whip like that? Poor Pat.

Thinking about removing books entirely from my list...don't know what I was thinking...even if I found something wonderful to read, I don't know when I'd read it.

You met her, Karen, does she act like a mean mean person??? No, really she knows how upset I get when I don't get my things done on time and she doesn't want to listen to me complain. She is the best quilting friend and sister anyone could ask for. WE have lots of fun together. Pat

Yep, I met both of you, a real highlight of COF for me. Having such a great quilting partner would be so fantastic. I'll just bet you help her a lot, too.

I read the Elm Creek series last winter. I need to have the library order the new one from this past November. I have enjoyed them but I find I like the older ones alittle better. I read some of Maries and still have one or 2 to come in. I liked the one by Wanda too.
