March 5, 2006. I'd been on earlier, but after a bit of a break had to re-register.
|
Sept. 29, 2002 the day after I retired the first time.
|
June 14, 2006 I found the board on the last day of the Memorial Day weekend, and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find it again when I got home from work the next day. I was new to the internet and to message boards and intended to lurk only. It took two weeks for CBQ to lure me into a CW fat quarter swap. That's when I signed up.
|
I found the boards shortly after we got the first computer in fall 1999, I think. That was in the days before we had to register. When they started with registering, resisted at first. Spend a lot of time here. Strings Friends divide our sorrows and multiply our joys.

I watched Patty j post many times and she finally talked me into signing on in Oct. 2010. I am glad I did. Sue

I believe I started way back, when I had to sign up in the library to use the computer a week later for 1 hour. Didn't know a thing about it, all I could do was pick a name of a yarn Co. and was amazed at all the colors of yarn that would come up on the screen! Knew I was onto something, didn't know what to do with it!!! Then I had to have a Web TV, whatever that was....that started all of this wonderful world of INTERNET!I must have gotten started about the same time as Strings... 1999..remember all the scares about the turn of the century..LOL, Thank G*o*d, we've came a long way BABY!!!!!!! nuquiltr~~~aka misspolly31

I registered on 9-18-2004 but was not active at that time (only a lurker). I really got active after I retired in 2009. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

My cable co. started carrying HGTV around the mid-90's, and I found this website soon after. The message board was for "crafts" and was simply a list of topic titles, with replies listed under them. No registration was needed to post or read. That might have been '95 or '96? I'm guessing. Then the site changed style, and along with the craft board, there was a "Home Talk" or some similarly named catch-all board where everything under the sun was discussed, un-moderated. There was even a recipe board. I came across a recipe print-out from there the other day, dated '98 or '99. Then came another change and registration was required. I don't remember exactly when that was (some here will**), but I do remember it was during a blur of (elderly) family responsibilities for me, so I may not have registered right away. During the early '00's, my sewing machine collected cobwebs for long stretches because I was too busy doing other things. My registration says July of 2004, but I know I was here from the get-go of a very rudimentary "craft" board long before that, and here through every change since. **Sept. of '02?This message has been edited. I think it was 98 or 99 too. Every time they changed the boards the registration date changed. Got my first computer in 1998 and I know it was shortly after that. The HGTV site was the first one I visited

I have belonged since around 2000, but, it got messed up in 2003 and my date was restarted then. I also lost my posts. Now I like everyone here so much I am addicted to it. It is a great addiction though. Don't you think? Carolyn Carolyn http://bransoncofretreat.shutterfly.com/ Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.

I'm another ten year veteran in December. It doesn't seem that long but as everyone knows, the older we get, the faster time flies.
|
I joined in Feb. 2003, but there was a mix-up a few months ago and I had to re-register, so now my date is 2012.

It looks like I registered March 18th, 2005, but I think I was here before that. Had to re-register when there were computer problems on the board. Time flies, doesn't it? Quiltmaker

I registered Sept. 30, 2005. I used to be a lurker and then registered so I could see the pictures. Never thought I would become a 'regular' having to check to see what was new and the pictures posted. Then in November of that year, I broke my ankle. Enough to say it was a long, miserable recuperation and since I couldn't do much, I used to be on the board for hours every day. And then I got my DD to join in too. Love the ladies, learned a lot and laughed a lot. Mary

That agrees with the info in the member directory that shows the first person to sign in is "Admin" on Sept. 04, 2002. There are a few more Admin registrations (testing I guess) on Sept 10 and 12 and then the regular sign ins started on Sept, 17, 2002 with someone with the logonid of "fergus". The list is here if anyone wants to check it out. I have it sorted by date joined so the first members are at the bottom of the last page. Uh - it's not that I don't have anything useful to do. I'm just stuck on a quilt design and giving my brain something else to play with for a bit...........

July 18, 2006 after lurking for awhile. I wanted to be able to see the pictures.

I stumbled across the board May 5th 2007. loved it right away. Signed in so I could see the pics everyone was commenting on. I think my first post was a PM to as ask (Patch I believe) how do I get a cute avatar like you have? Been here ever since. <><><> Express Your Creative Side ~~ Sew Something Today. <><><>

I registered in August of 2003, but I had been a "lurker" here for a couple of years prior to that. I ended up registering 'cause someone had a question and no one seemed to know the answer, but I did. So I signed up and answered the question. Someone else came up with the same answer that same day, so my answer was confirmed. It felt good to finally be able to help someone else since I had gotten such great advice from just reading all of the board posts. Since then, I've gotten more active on the board and have done several swaps, including becoming the host, with my friend QuilterChris, of the 12 Days of Christmas Swap. I have learned a lot from all of you ladies and have been privileged to get to know you all. LindaJ52

My profile says September 18, 2002, but I know that's when we had to re-register and I know I had been here for several years prior. We got internet in the Fall of '96, so I'm guessing I started hanging out on hgtv.com around the same time. Like several of you, I remember just the general boards - Crafts, Gardening, Food. I didn't start being a regular on this board until 2007, although I peaked in from time to time.

Sept. 29,2004 is when I registered. Found this site because I was looking for something on Simply Quilts.I am so glad that I did.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a member directory. I looked at some of the early pages and recognized some of the names and avatars. They haven't changed a bit in 10 years.

I'm really getting tired of having to sign in each time that come to this forum. I clicked the "keep me signed in", but I still have to log in each time I come here. Looks like September 18, 2002. This is when we were forced to join the forum if we were going to post. I remember beng hesitant in joining and then didn't know if I'd like it after signing up. Glad I did though because I've met alot of awesome people here! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Quilts"R"Fun,

1/10/2003. Know I was on the board long before that as we moved to Florida in June of 1999 and had cable for the first time in years and lived on HGTV. The gardening shows, Sandra Bsthune, Alex, Carol Duval, those were THE GOOD OLD DAYS. Took a while to register after we needed to, think it was to see the pictures. Hadn't really started quilting yet, just bought fabric, books, magazines & watched quilting shows... Chris

I joined sometime in 1998 but they did some kind of a big transition many years ago and my date changed as well as my count. I think my post count was reduced by at least, if not more than, 1500 (I'm thinking it was more like 2,000).This message has been edited. Last edited by: CA Lori,
