Okay. Have read last instructions. When all is said and done the originator's row with blue thread will be in the middle of all the quilt tops??? So when displayed the blue thread will be one continuous zigzagging line....

Just out of curiosity: Will the blue fabric that is being sent to all robins be a patriotic (American flag) blue? If so, might be fun to have the whole kit and kaboodle lean toward the patriotic side don't you think? I know not necessary but kind of good "food for thought". At least for me; I don't have a patriotic quilt and sure would love one.

BTW, what is the standard measurements for QOV? Another food for thought.... lol, thinking too much here....

Susan

The blue was an example Smile if you sign up, you will see the thread fabric very soon!

Question: Can we applique the "thread" fabric onto our row, or does it have to be pieced in? Since it will only be on my row, it would give me a bigger pool of patterns to use if I could just do a needleturn applique on the strip. Just wondering.

Applique is fine Smile Its your quilt after all! Just be aware that not everyone knows how to applique, so you may not get applique on the other rows.

20 would be pretty hanging up around that nice big conference room! Maybe we should have two more sign ups before they get to see the fabric Big Grin Big Grin

That's okay. I don't care if there's applique on the other rows, I just thought it would be neat to applique the "thread" on my row. Thanks for the answer.

LindaJ52

P.S. - Please, please show us the fabric!

I have another basic question: when you go to Quilter's Cache for blocks and they say 12" is that finished and joined to the rows or 12" before you join it in? That's a great source for blocks.

Hi, I'll go ahead and join this challenge! It should be great when all put together. Curious about the special fabric, etc. Thanks for organizing it.

Since I do mostly paper-piecing, I would like to know the dimensions of the strip of blue fabric. Would there be enough, etc.?

Thanks,

Quilters cache patterns are the finished size. So if you chose a 12 inch pattern from her site then it will be a standard block, 12.5 unfinished which is what you want Smile

If you are using Quilters Cache, remember to read the copyright instructions - especially for her own pattern designs Smile

Please sign up! you won't regret it! Last year's was so much fun for me! The middle row may be a creativity challenge, but putting additional rows on is easy - once you see what's been done, it generally "speaks" to you and tells you what it wants. And the additional rows can be applique, piecing, traditional, non traditional, invented, etc. etc. And the finished projects are amazing. Pics did not do them justice!

Janet - each person will end up making 5 rows. One of her own (the one w/ the "thread" and 4 more - 1 for each of the members of her group. Total=5.

I'm getting into very deep water here - but I'll sign up if we get four more people to make the last group.

Concerned about my imagination compared to all the qreat designers here, but willing to try. So if four more of you are concerned about the time and imagination - sign up with me and we'll inspire each other to get this done.

Me too. I'm so darn symmetrical this was a tough one for me but I think I have figured an acceptable layout. If you get enough to do another group of 5 I would love to be included. The robins have been so much fun and have turned out beautifully! You learn so much too.

Okay, I signed up and sent my PM, now I'm having panic over this! I am a fairly new quilter. I'm not super creative, nor as advanced as most here, but I will do my best. IF there is anyone who doesn't want a beginner on this, PLEASE let me know, and I'll bow out with no hard feelings. I WILL get them done, but they may not be as cool as some peoples!

You are a busy mom, you just need to schedule it in not seek to present the best of the very best ... I'm not sure who will ever do that, but you can bet it's not me .. and I'm in. So come play. Hugs to you my friend.

Please send another PM to me with your real name, your address, email address and phone number. Then I can add you into a group Smile
