I'm searching for fabric to match some already used in a quilt. I've always thought if you had the selvage you could identify specific fabric, but I've doubting that now. I've just taken photos of several different colors of Gail Kessler's Dimples. My intent was to have definite information to use to find more of same fabric. How do you find exactly the right fabric if the selvage doesn't have the info? Not only didn't I find SKU#s, I found that there were 2 different names given to what I thought were the same fabric designs tho different colors. This message has been edited. I know that some of my fabric pieces don't have any info on the selvages. Someone not to long ago had a way of copying a picture & then looking for it on the browser "images". I don't know how to do that but maybe that person will come along to help. I want to know how to do that. I think someone posted a pic of the fabric here on the board & the reply gave instructions how to copy it & possibly find it in the image section. Does any of this make sense? I go straight to the maker's website. They usually have current collections shown, with proper numbers and/or color info. (They sometimes have archived collections, too.) You usually can't order from there, but you can at least find the "true" number & color of what you're after. Then a search with that number can bring up stores that carry the fabric & use that number or color name to identify it. And sometimes the maker's website will have a list of stores that should carry that line. I'm not sure an image search would work for Dimples. Colors might differ browser to browser. If memory serves, there are a lot of color/shade nuances in that kind of line. Best to try to find the color name or number. EDIT - Here's the whole Dimples line, with color/item numbers per Andover: http://www.andoverfabrics.com/...hp?GroupName=Dimples --And I just copied one of those color numbers at random & put it in Google -- nothing but the number, no additional words or anything. Up came all sorts of stores that carried that fabric. Oh, and now I see there's a store search at the top of that Dimples page, too. It seems to work for my zip code. But I'd call before heading out to see if it's still in stock. Hope this helps. This message has been edited. Last edited by: StarrySky,

I also like to search www.quiltshops.com Often they'll have the fabrics and you can phone the store if you want to talk in person to someone.
