I was surfing for links to Christmas ornament instructions for a women's thing we're going to do at church. We plan to share in making simple ornaments and have a fun socializing.

I came across this site and thought I'd share.
http://www.allfreecrafts.com/christmas/index.shtml

Does anybody have any other links that aren't kid type ornaments that you'd like to share? Quilt related ornaments would be great...I love those but haven't come across any yet.

Does anybody have the recipe for homemade decopodge glue?

Thanks.

I have been saving a couple to do with my daughter. We make some together every year. Some of these are simple, but can look nice depending on the supplies.

Scallop Shape (I'm wondering if you can do this with fabric and a fusible?)

I had one for really cute keychains, and a denim tree too, but can't find it right now. I'll post if I find it.

I remember someone here last year used torn strips of homespun (maybe) and wrapped the plastic candy canes, then tied with rafia bow and some buttons, they were really cute & easy Just went to $ store and guess what..candy canes are already on the shelves.

I find the quilted ball pattern confusing to use an instruction sheet. My MIL knows a lady who knows how to make the quilted balls. She's going to ask her to show me. On something that looks that complicated, I have to be shown so that I have a "hands on" learning experience.

Keep them coming. I have this posted on the holiday board too. If anybody wants more ideas that don't make it to this thread. If you have ornaments that you want to share that you've made just add the pic and how to make them.

I don't have a link but someone showed me how to make kissing balls last year. You thread your hanger (can use cording or satin ribbon) and go all the way through a styrofoam ball and tie it off at one end. Pull knot away from the end and add a little glue to secure it. Maybe pull it where it hides the knot inside the ball a little so that it can be covered with the pins/sequins. You use pins with the colored heads and sequins. Start at the top of the ball and stick a pin through a sequin and continue until the ball is covered in pins/sequins. Takes a while but it's pretty whe the lights flicker on it. Hang them higher on the tree so that babies can't get them.

Hi, my friend who lives in Perth, spent the weekend with her daughter making yo-yo fairies they are adorable, and she says super easy, she sent me a few pics and said she is gonna drop some fairies in the post for me today Big Grin here's a pic she sent, The faces are made out of flat wooden buttons with beads glued over the holes, and the facial features then painted on.the rest is just bits of fabric , other than the yo-yo's it's a no sew project. Unless you want to add beads or something, most everything is glued in place. They could be easily turned ino angels by adding halos, I'm going to make some this week and use some velvet for the yo-yo's I think.

Here are the denim trees, I thought they were cute. I could see the CQ ladies going crazy with them.

Those are so cute! I made the yo-yo angels a few years ago for tags on teacher's gifts. I used the wedding bands that are in the wedding section for the halos. The face was the wooden button like what was used above and the wings were a bow made of either wide wire ribbon or tulle'.

Keep the ideas coming...

Good Day Ladies, QRF sent an invite to the Holiday Craft Board to join in on the Christmas Ornaments posting.

This is the link to the Holiday Craft Board:
http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1004031632/m/5361011683

The Quilt Ball Ornaments are so easy to make. One of the other girls noticed on the direction that the first thing it ask for is that you use 2 squares of fabric wrong sides together to start. (I have found no reason to do that!) You only need 1 square right side up. The first square is put in place incase you have gaps between your first row of triangles.

This Santa's Repair Kit was shared with us from Megansmomma: Because I don't have the hand writing skills that she has, I printed the poem off using the computer and put it on the back of Santa tag.

Diane

I found this and thought it was cute. I've not made any, but it seems that the centers could be made with just about anything, including a photo.

I tried one of the fabric covered styrofoam ball ornaments. What a disaster Big Grin The instructions seemed simple enough but the execution, for me anyway, certainly was not.

Decoupage glue - I think if you mix 1 part craft glue with 3 parts water you get something like a decoupage glue. I saw the woman from Quilting Arts guesting on one of the quilting programs last Saturday and she did this in the process of making a quilting journal page.
