Last Christmas they had a stocking drive for the residents that had survived the fire there. They collected other items for a February delivery and distribution. Here is an article on the February distribution. Hope there were others that contributed to this neat happening... Chris

Newlywed volunteer firefighter cried for joy when she won a sewing machine....says it all doesn't it.

Where's my kleenex...

It doesn't get any better than that! What an awesome thing was done for those victims of that awful fire.

I'm proud to say that I'm a member of the StitchMAP group...and donated to this cause. The founder of the group, Shari Jensen, is a great lady...and the entire premise of the group is to teach needlework techniques, FREE!

She does this by getting volunteers to help her prepare excellent technical class instructions (I did her crazy quilt beginner course...and am working on an intermediate course, a silk ribbon course, and a basic "sane" quilting course.)

She then gets volunteers who know about the subject being taught...to mentor those members that do not know about it...but want to.

Everything depends on the volunteer spirit of the members...so if you would like to share your talents...or learn a new technique...I encourage you to consider checking her group out.

For the Bastrop relief, she collected from all over the world...and other groups helped by donating to it as well. We had a few ladies here who contributed to the cause. I sent a load of stuff from ShawklDesigns when I shut that down and a new sewing machine. I was happy to help out...and to get some space cleaned out of my inventory!

It was a great cause...lead by a super lady...and her group is the best! Well, second to HGTV of course!
