I got the message from Saved, and then replies from Needlecrazy and somebody else. I thought it odd that it was sent out via an email, rather than as a PM here on the board.

Saved, if you read this, would you please clarify for us?

well ... I thought y'all could use a July 5th riddle ....

YES, I SENT THE EMAIL Smile I had a question that I wanted answered, and just decided to send it out to everyone ...

I understand how it could be misunderstood with all the hacking going on ... but there's NO HACKING of the Circle of Friends email Smile

So... if you've deleted the email, OR you don't want to thrash with it there ... let's ask it here ~~

DO YOU CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS ? Or is it just a day of December 25th with no implications?

GLAD to see y'all are so on top of the latest technology happenings Smile

Ladies, some of the people who the email went out to are hitting the reply to all button instead of the reply button...that is why the answers are coming to your mailbox...

I celebrate as well, I love to decorate, and the carols...etc...but it is still a day of blessing for me...when I get to spend time with family and eat and be merry...and ohhh so thankful Smile

Lindsey, yes, I figured out that the email was from you. It said Circle of Friends Quilting Retreat Branson.

Yes, I do celebrate Christmas. The preferred way is with a Christmas Eve service at church, come home and have a relaxed meal (no big cooking here, when the kids were little I made finger foods like mini egg rolls, chicken nuggets, crackers and cheese ball, etc so it could be eaten while they opened gifts) We have spent Christmas Eve with our kids and grands, but last year was just the two of us and it was great to spend time together, rest, sleep, whatever we wanted and no big noise. I don't do Santa stuff.

I don't decorated as much anymore. I have a small tree. a big precious moments nativity scene and winter or Christmas quilts draped on chairs, couch and beds.. DH and I host a Christmas eve dinner for family and we exchange gifts from family to family. Then mass and then kids return to their homes and next Morning do the Santa thing with their kids then they usually go to their spouses families. DH and I will cook a turkey and dressing with all the fixing in case any one wants to stop over later in the day for a snack. The grands always want to show us what Santa left them. Last year we went to them because it was easier than them dragging everything to G'ma and Gampa's house. Our Family is changing and our traditions are too, as the family moves are further away away and the grands are getting older. We will have a teenager next week (eek where have the years gone by). Not sure why but my eyes are getting watery. bye

I wasn't too sure about the e-mails either.

Yes we celebrate Christmas. I decorate as much as I can talk DH into helping with. He generally doesn't help decorating inside, just has to get the stuff out of the attic for me. We go to my parents on Christmas Eve and then all our kids and grandkids and the great-grandparents come to our house on Christmas Day. I used to fix a big dinner but the last couple of years DH has decided to fry fish. Does that sound like a southern, red-neck Christmas???

I over-decorate — multiple trees, Nativity sets, Santas, you get the idea. We don't do outside decorations.

I over-bake — cookies coming out of the woodwork around here.

There are no kids or grandkids, so we don't do gifts. I will make quilts for my niece and nephew this year — they are adults, so these will be keepers.

I usually do ham, potato salad, baked beans — all stuff that can be prepped the day before.

Last year, DH and I spent the entire day in our jammies watching the Thin Man movie marathon that we had recorded. I sat in my recliner with needleturn applique and food. My kind of day!

We celebrate Christmas. As our family dynamics are changing our traditions are evolving and ever changing also. We celebrate with our children and the grands the weekend before Christmas. Last year DH and I were alone on Christmas Day for the first time. I thought it would be a bummer but it was really nice! Guess it is all what you make it be and remember the "reason for the season".

I love to decorate, bake and have people into our home the entire month of December. Up here in the frozen northland we need a lot of "sparkle" to bring brightness into the cold and dark month of December. Is it too early to say Merry Christmas????

We are finally in Paducah and checked into the hotel, yeah! I'm glad to know where the emails are coming from once I get home on Sunday. We celebrate C*hristmas and Chanu*ka since we have a "blended" marriage. We definitely have evolving traditions Smile The most fun is with the DGD's.

I celebrate Christmas every year. Last year I was alone in a new place, had all my ceramic christmas trees out on display all 16 of them. big medium and small. As many of the accompanying ashtrays (never used)and assorted other types of Christmas memories I have made over the years to keep me company. Then I went to my DD's home to be with them while their 2 adopted from China, children opened their gifts, and ate too much. It was all very special. Will probably try it again this year,
G*od willing. Merry Christmas All.
Started on making gifts? Silly you!

I just got back from Canada and bought another do-dad (ornament) for my tree. I put up a tree and love to get dated/destination ornaments every year. My tree is full of memories and ornaments that the boys and my mom made, I have to really look for a spot for all of them, because I can't leave one ornment still in its' box. I also have a Pickle ornament that I hide in the branches and everyone gets a chance to look for it. I buy a few "pickle presents" so the first one to find the pickle gets to hide it back in the tree and the others all look again for it. It is lots of fun and the grands ask to keep hiding it even without presents.
We celebrate with my sisters usually a weekend either before or after Christmas. That is a big family party with games and of course lots of food. It is getting harder and harder to find a date where we all can get together as a family. But we manage.
