Well, I've tried everything that I know to do to reduce my pictures within the 50 kb that this forum requires. Everything that I've tried results in pictures that are the size of postage stamps! Confused Maybe it is my camera's fault, which is a Kodak 4.1 megapixel. However, I reduced the megapixels to 1.1 and switched a setting from "fine" to "standard" and my pictures are still in the 300 kbyte size. Then I saved the pictures in "best for email" mode and still they are too big (around 100 kbytes).

Most of you post pics that are so pretty, clear and BIG. Smile Anybody got any ideas on what I could try?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

hi try leaving off saving best for email... it may be readjusting to that after your change... just save to "my documents"or "my pictures" you can browse your picture out from there. Smile

Claudia, I just sent you a private message.

My hubbies camera is a 4. megapixel but I don't seem to have a problem. I just take the photo into his camera program and open it and then go to edit. I crop it most of the time, then I just resize it. Whichever number is bigger length or width, I just type in 500 and then clcik ok and it has never been refused yet. IF you need more help just email me and maybe I can explain it better.
oh forgot don't think the size is 50kb think it is up to 150kb

type resizer in the google bar, click on the microsoft site. when it comes up there is a free resizer to download in the right hand column.then when you go to your pics just right click the pic you want, then click resize. I pick small but it is still pretty big .

pictures can be up to 150kb, i usually type in 500 for mine as well in my graphics program. once you've done that you click on add attachment and "Browse" for where you saved your picture" click on post now.

Here's how I do it:
After I've downloaded my pictures, I re-open them in the "My Pictures" file.
Click on the one you want. (Right click)
choose "Open With"
choose "paint"
Now your picture is HUGE......it's okay
choose "Image"
choose "Stretch/Skew"
Then there will be Horizontal and Vertical, with both of them reading "100"
Change it. Simply play with it to figure out how big or small you want the picture.
I usually set mine both to 15.
Sounds complicated, but it's a piece of cake.

All of you are terrific. Thanks so much for your help. I'll try your recommendations. I thought I had had pics rejected if over 50 kb, but I must have been wrong about that. Anyway, maybe I can get a pic on here soon. Big Grin

Another way of getting pictures
posted here...
We installed/downloaded Irfanview.

After the pictures are uploaded on to the computer, I go through the pictures and choose one I'd like to share:

1. If you right click on the picture, you’ll get a menu. You want to choose to open with Irfanview.
2. A window opens with your picture ready to size. Right now it’s huge, don’t worry!

3. Look up at the toolbar, you have the word, "Image", click it...
4. Now, scroll down to "resizing/resample", click it...

It should give you a new little window, on the right, with sizes to choose from. I always choose 800x600 just to see how the picture looks, if it looks good, click OK , then I do one more resizing... by choosing "Half". That cuts the size down 50%.

a shortcut, when you already know you've got a size in mind is to choose 800x600 (or what size you choose) and push "half" and then push OK.

here's the tricky part!
You've pushed OK, now to save it. Don't try renaming during this little resizing moment! Just save, it'll ask you if you really want to save and you'll click Yes, Save!!! The next time you open that picture, it's the new size. And after that you can rename the picture!

If you shared a picture on a post and it's larger than you want, you can edit that picture right in the post by editing the attachment.

I ended up using RockinBobbin's way, since I already have Paint on my system. It worked. I wanted to post on Sew and Tell for this week, but it's closed now, so I'll post my pic here, so y'all can see what I finished this week. It's a log cabin made for a client from her dearly departed husband's oxford shirts and ties. Thanks again for all of your help.

I had a terrible time trying to post my pictures also. Never could get them small enough last week. Then I finally got them smaller this week to post, but I'm not sure exactly how I did it. I'll have to try RockinBobbin's way next time.

Hearttoheart, your quilt is beautiful, glad you were able to post that picture.

Lovely quilt. I have to agree with Quiltbea, I like how you did the border. I'll have to remember that.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures from you.

I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag.
