I don't have a picture of the original fq SavedSinnr sent me as a joke - all chickens and such... - but if you look at the border around the picture you can get an idea of what I had to work with.
Anyway, I tried to take something that would've taken first prize in the UGLY fq bingo category and make something nice for SS - what do you think? (except for the red, the back and the binding it is all made of the chicken fabric)

When this was held up at the retreat, my jaw dropped. Your work is truly amazing. Perhaps a future retreat class ?? Smile

I so enjoyed having "Precious" join us at the retreat. She is so balanced and poised! I was afraid that letting her "help" would go to her head and she would become whiny or bossy. NO WAY!! She is beautiful and quite mature!! I miss her!

Thanks for sharing this photo or your beautiful fabric portrait of her!!

WoW Lori ... I was JUST going thru the Flickr pics to get this and post it. I cannot tell you HOW MUCH I TRULY LOVE THIS QUILT! Your work IS AMAZING! And you captured Precious' natural beauty in fabric! I will treasure this all the days of my life Group Hug

For those of you not there, I was absolutely blown away, and I still cry when I think of it. Lori caught me completely off guard and made this sappy ole gramma bawl like a baby ... Smile

Thank you all for being so accepting of my Precious! She IS a very special girl, and she's my Precious gift from The L0rd ... that's why I gave her that name Smile She had SO MUCH FUN with everyone! You made her feel accepted, not intrusive, and she was allowed to learn new crafts and express her skills ... she's so very talented!!! Smile

I gave her numerous opportunities to go with her mom & dad and do her kinda fun stuff. She turned it down each time and said that y'all were fun and nice, and that she was having a great time! Smile SO FROM HER GRAMMA NEENO ... THANK YOU ALL! It's because of women like you that this love and skill of quilting will be passed on for continued generations. Big Grin

Lori ... you are so special! To take what I intended as a goof and turn it in to so much beauty ... I am humbled ... Thank you my special friend... you will always have a warm place in my heart, cause you got me right in the mushy part ♥♥♥

I took that class. I am trying to remember if it was Gonesewin herself as I took one of her classes. She had long hair and was soft spoken as I recall. Tough to get old. BUT I LOVE Precious's portrait. The photograph is beautiful and the quilted portrait: STUNNING!

Precious is so, well, . . . Precious! I am so glad to have met her in person--and her mom and dad Smile. My guess is that Lindsay will be carrying that quilt around to show everyone she sees.

Lori, you did an amazing job on that quilt, especially considering what you started with. It is a fabulous piece and you captured Precious beautifully.

It was great to see Precious holding the quilt and I don't know where my camera was at the time, but glad that someone was prepared to get the picture.

There was no question who the portrait in the quilt was. Lindsay teared up several times and always stated as a disclaimer, "Y'all know I'm just tired"... Wink

As Precious was drawing tickets for door prizes and calling names...she didn't just call "Chris"...she did her fingers in the air (like air quotes) and said *Chris*

DH commented on how mature she is...and said something like "Good for her" when she did that.

I cetainly can't add to anything already said. She is absolutely darling. She tried so hard to remember everyones name. She didn't know me at first til I said "I slept in your bed". Then she was like "OH" You're the one they call "Nursie" LOL!

She has a beautiful heart just like her grandma!

Lori, I wish I'd gotten a closer look at that portrait, but, from where I stood it was ab****ely amazing! To think you could get something that beautiful out of a chicken fabric just blows my mind! And it was a beautiful moment when it was presented.

I have to agree with everything said about Precious...she is an awesome child...the kind I would have wanted had I had kids!

Lori, I am in awe of your talent! Seeing that quilted portrait in person had me saying over and over "How did she do that with chicken fabric??!!" You captured her... her beauty and her wonderful personality and charm.
I'm so glad I got to meet her after reading Lindsay's comments about "her Precious"... she is everything I've heard and more!
That was a very special moment when you presented it to Lindsay and I know I, along with many others, had tears in their eyes.

That quilt of Precious is just amazing & will be held very dear to Lindsday's heart forever. It looks just like Precious & I can only image the reaction of SS when it was presented to her. What a wonderful, beautiful treasure of a wonderful beautiful granddaughter.
