I'd recommend Gale try to log in again, using her original id & password. There have been times in the past, for whatever reason, I was logged in, but couldn't see photos, but was able to post. I know this has happened to others because there have been numerous mentions here on the board. It has resolved the problem each time it has happened to me.

I've found the internet a bit "glitchy" this week. In order to reduce the possibility of issues, I've "shut down" and done extra "clean-ups". I have mozilla on my most used laptop, but my preferred browser is IE. Windows 7 operating system.

Gale, go to the top of the list and click on the "GO button. Then select "Profile". After that comes over, go over to the right where it says Edit Full Profile and click on that. Then scroll down and there should be some choices for avatars. You can add avatars from other locations, too, but this'll get you started.

I did a search for "free avatars" and found mine. No idea where, but they're out there. When you find one you want, copy the URL (web address) for it and then paste it into the slot on the profile. Save the edit and you're done.

Gale, if I understand right, you can use any picture you have as an avatar BUT IT HAS TO BE SMALL ENOUGH to fit the allotted size. I can't tell you offhand what that is, because I've never used one of my own pictures.

You'll be about 450 miles south of me when you go to the wedding.

Gale, that is a beautiful block. Oh, what is that pattern? I'm seeing some stars in there, but there are so many variations I'm not about to guess.

You might want to investigate making the avatar smaller so it won't take up so much of the message space.

Gayle,
It had to be under 150kb to post, but for an avatar, right now, it's best to use an even smaller copy, is to make it smaller than 100x100 pixels. Less than 30kb, depending on the resolution. The one I'm using is 75x59pixels. Be sure to save a second copy of the photo you use, that has been sized-down for the avatar. I label mine with x added to the photo name.
ETA. I see you got the avatar part, now the sizing, tho it's nice to see such a sweet photo of your block. Smile

Welcome Gale! Don't be shy, you are not the only Canuck on the board. I live south of the border now but am proud to be Canadian and I know there are others on the board as well. Great avatar, I haven't bothered to figure that out yet so you are doing well. Hope to see more pictures!
