I can't think of an easier thing to make - scrubs! Yet, I am having a hard time with the v on the neckline and the band that goes on it. I keep getting puckers and just can't get the band on. Anyone else make this pattern or have this problem. I was thinking of just making a regular facing for it but I need the band to extend the lenght of the shoulder. And of course, everything is cut out and not a lot of extra material. ![]()

When you sew the v, sew one extra row of sticthes about 1 inch on both sides of the point. Stich as close to the first line as you can. then clip up to the stich without cutting through it. But clip it as close as you can. then turn iron down. SUE B The smallest Cross in the corner is the one you put in the room. I hope all our daily ups and downs are with needle and thread. When I modify the neckline of my shirts, I mark 1/8" out from the intersection on my facing on either side of it and about 1/4" down from there. When I get to the intersection, I sew straight across, from mark to mark. Instead of sewing a 'v' it makes kind of a square corner but it is so small it's hard to tell the diff. Then I go back and make a diagonal snip into the corners so it can turn. Hope my explanation was understandable. You might want to give that a try on some scraps. ![]()

Not sure what the instructions say but you should also be able to sew the band on at the same time by just laying it between the facing and the body of the shirt. Then when you flip the facing to the inside, the band will go with it. Just like with cording, lace or any other sewn on embellishment. Since I don't know the pattern, I'm guessing. ETA: Those are nice instructions NIcki posted. If you do the neckline the way I suggsted your banding will overlap and not abut as it shows in the tutorial. This message has been edited. last year I made 17 scrubs without a commercial pattern. I took apart one of hers that fit and left 1/2 of it together to see how to do it. I had trouble with that "simple" band every time. These look like great instructions above. I did a little pivot before and after the v, which helped to turn it. Many times I sewed the v first, then the rest of the seams up. You can always use a different fabric for that band if you run out and make it a "design feature". Wow! That tutorial was great...she should know...she's an MD! ***This message has been edited. Thanks everyone - all great suggestions. I already snipped to the V and i think I went a bit too far and that may be part of the problem, the band is not an exact fit now. I have 4 more to make so will try some of these on some scraps first.

I never cut the band to the right size first...I left long tails, then cut them off later. Whatever it took to get that v in there. let's see...I sewed down ithe left, pivoted at the point of the v, pulled the shirt down so the slit was almost straight, sewed around the v and back up the right side. then I pulled the rest of the bindingaround to the back, 1/4" under. Basted by hand, or sometimes evencaought the whole thing by hand. Pressed. Turned it over, and topstiched the whole thing right next to the seam line. folded over the v and top stiched that. usually prayed the whole time. That's the only part I don't miss about making scrubs...or I think I could do it full-time...with cute fabrics... made one once with batiks and it was positively Run w a y worthy. she looked beautiful in it.
