Ladies, in going through some papers I had printed off from here, I found some that may "ring a bell for you".

Do you remember the Siggy Swap in 2003 when we had 120 swappers? Well, I found several threads I had printed off---info, guidelines, thank-yous-----you know, those things that are very important and mean so much to you at the time.

Those of you who know me know that one thing triggers something else for me. I saw and read something posted by "sewnso" just a few min. ago and I certainly remember her from both this MB and when CFQG was formed. Well, the saga continues.

I have saved the master membership list from 12-15-04, and I just pulled it up and read over it. Ooooooohhhhhhh, those precious memories of you ladies nearly 10 yrs. ago who are still making memories today. THANK YOU.

Quiltbea, I think of you so very often and wonder about your quilting and your gardening. We have had some enjoyable times via cyberspace, have we not?

AND--those of you who know me can certainly tell that I can still ramble on incessantly. But, I just had to post something about seeing so many familiar names from this board and joined with the group to form CFQG in 2004.

Now---next question. How many of you have your siggy quilt assembled? Finished---quilted and bound? My top is assembled and I'm going to treat myself to having it quilted--if it will fit on a machine. It is a huge quilt because of the precious center block that one of the ladies embroidered and sent to me. I have a KS spread sized quilt.

And, for now, I shall close. I'm still quilting--make 6 quilts every Christmas for my family. Ready to start on those for 2013 as soon as I get through Epiphany and get everything Christmas packed away.

If you read all through this, thank you for letting me ramble on.

HI Judy. l remember that swap. l wanted to do it so bad but didn't think l was good enough. Made me feel real good when a few swappers sent me a block to sign b/c they wanted me in their quilts. So, even though l didn't participate in the Swap it was special to me. Good to see you here anytime.

As I sit here remembering just how that swap got started, I remember WisSis posting that I could have my dream if I wanted to--just host a swap. Bless her heart, she has passed on, but I remember her encouragement very well.

Hi Judy, it was good seeing your name again on a post. I hope to see more of you here. Ramble away.Smile

Your siggie swap was before I found the board. If I had been here, I would have 3 siggie UFOs instead of 2. Smile My first siggie swap was Brandyquilter's in 2007. I have the blocks together but haven't put a border on yet.

Judy! Such a treat to see your post this morning! Your siggy swap was "right" before I joined! Wish so much that I had been a part of that! I hosted a siggy swap in 2005 but did not have 120 join... There were several but not quite the number you had.

Why don't you come back and join us again... We would dearly love to see regular posts from you. Smile

Mine are partially put together. 120 was a little too much to put in a quilt so I was going to make a "border" to put around my sewing room. But now that I've moved I'm going to have to find them again. I still have tons of boxes not unpacked.

I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag.

This is SOOOOOOOO ironic. Last week I was thinking of that swap and wondering about JudyTx. What ever happened to her??????

Every year our guild has a retreat and last year I decided I was going to put my siggy swap together. I have it started, but not finished. Our guild also has a quilt till you wilt one weekend a month. I had decided only last Thursday that I would be working on my siggy quilt until it was finished.

I still use the scissor holder that you graciously made for each one of the 120 participants. I also borrowed your pattern and made some for the girls at the guild retreat. We have an average of 14 people attend so it was not nearly the challenge you took on.

Well Judy...I hope this means you are coming back to participate. Good to see you again, and visit old memories.

What fun! It has been a long time since some of you have posted, and I am not a frequent poster these days. I can't remember if I participated it that swap, I am pretty sure I did. But none of my sigggies are in a quilt - yet.

It would sure be nice to see some pictures. Maybe that would motivate me, lol!

I was not part of your siggy swap but I did participate in Q's. No they are not finished they are in my WIP drawer.

I do have my siggy swap from the Branson COF retreat. I put them together in four sections.
I have three large windows in the front of my sewing room and I have one small one on the side. I am quilting these without batting and using black out for the backs. I will then use them by taking mini blinds and covering them. When I am done they will be be Roman Shades for my sewing room. The blackout will keep the sun from fading my squares.

I will show a pic when I am done.

Thanks for this post. I love to read stories like yours. It is important to hang on to our memories. Where we have been and where we come from is just as important as where we are headed.

Brandyquilter... You didn't participate in Judy's siggy swap as it was in 2003 but you did in mine in 2005. Smile

You hosted one in I think 2007 and I have my squares from that one put together, quilted, bound and use it every night in my living room. Smile

Michelle1538,
I'm trying to PM you as well, and my computer is not cooperating. I can't even get it to open a PM to begin.

I did get a PM notification from another person this a.m., and I was able to reply to that one. I don't know what else to do. But, if we can get something going, ask your questions till your heart is content. lol

To do PMs, you need to click on the person's name and go to their public profile. At the bottom you can invite that individual to a PM. The other method quit working a long time ago.

CFQG? Yes, I was a member there — part of the Stompin' Stitchers. We still "get together" as a separate group via Yahoo. Some good memories there.

Hey Judy,

I did a double take when I saw your name. It's been a while. It was good to hear from you. I remember that swap too. I wanted to join in but felt I was not on the par with the others that were participating. I could kick myself now but I have one set of siggies and have the blocks done just not together. But I know I missed out on "the siggy swap to end all siggy swaps". Maybe 2013 is the year????

Take care and don't be a stranger here. Alice

So great to see some old faces on this thread! Been much too long everyone.

I never joined these swaps as I wasn't confident enough with my quilting skills to do an exchange like this. I look back and think how dumb I was?

Now that we have lost a lot of people from this board, both to no longer interested and posting and to the great beyond, I wish I had participated... Chris

Hi Judy! Remember me? I was a participant in the 2003 siggy swap as Quiltinana. I still haven't put the blocks together. I was just looking at them the other day as I plowed through my UFO bin. The names bring back lots of memories but, sadly, I hardly see the names on this board any longer. Does anyone have photos of finished quilts made from these blocks? I think I remember someone making one from a panel of the U.S. map, surrounded by the siggies. It was huge! I have written down instructions of making a top on point with set in triangles and included it in the ziploc bag. So someone must have made one like that as well. I also remember someone making one with graduated colors, going from light to dark. It was lovely.

My favorite swaps back then were the ugly swaps! It's amazing how unnoticeable and non-ugly fabrics become when mixed into a scrap top.

I also have a set of "hand" blocks made by Sunshine members on this board to celebrate the FIRST anniversary of Sunshine Quilters. When I look at my workmanship (or lack of it) on this block, I am embarrassed and know I can do much better now. But the ladies in the swap were so very encouraging.

Happy New Year!
Joan

Well look who popped in to say Hello!
HELLO to you Judy, and to some of our old friends. It has been awhile since we've heard from many of you. I, too have been very sluggish about posting for sometime. Lost the air out of my balloon is now my favorite way to explain how I feel. Don't have the Flu as so many do, but have lost my energy.
So glad to hear that I am not the only one who never Made a Quilt out of all those wonderful Swaps. I like to think of them as my "Scrapbook"
of my treasured memories. I will never get rid of any of them! I only hope someone in my family will make a quilt out of them, one day.
I wasn't in many swaps, but one comes to mind, Remember those "Redworkers" flower blocks we made? Also those "Sunbonnet" blocks we made?
They are some of my most favorites. I love going through them reading the names. Such a good pastime!! And the talent so many of them displayed!!!
So, Judy, besides quilting, what have you been doing all this time? I've missed "talking" to you. You knew I moved to Illinois about 3 1/2
years ago, I don't miss Fl. at all. Please stay in touch, it's really been a treat to see you again on this board.
