What are your crafty/quilting goals this week? 2-15-13 Sign In/Join

This is the weekly thread where we decide on our goals for the next week, and share them. A lot of us have found that if we write down and share the goals, we'll have a better chance of meeting them.

They're your goals, so be as vague or specific as you want to.

I met last weeks goal of making a couple more of the no crochet scarves, and bought more yarn. So this week's goal is to continue making them, at least 2 more.

What is your goal?

I more or less met my goals.

Kim, your Chevron quilt looks like the pattern I have been working on-blocks are cut and layout has been decided but I need time to sew it together.

I am taking 8 quilts to tie and 7 row quilt kits to Project Linus meeting tomorrow. Need to get binding made for 6 of the quilts so they can be finished and turned in. The binding is cut and pinned together so just need to sew and iron it.

Need to mend son-in-law's coat.

Need to finish the row quilt tutorial for the Project Linus ladies.

Think that is more than enough for this week-this job thing keeps interfering with my quilting.

I did work on my last week's goal, the Super Bowl Mystery quilt but still not finished. The little visit I mentioned last week was to the hospital, so that slowed me down - still can't stand for long so that really messes w/my projects. Have completed one of the Zig Zag Charm Pack Table Runners and two more tops done. Just love those and they're such a fast project. I needed one for the top of our new chest of drawers and the other tops are for each of DDs for their dining tables.

Will just keep working on those and on Mystery Quilt and DD#2 is coming this weekend to work on her king-sized batik quilt, so I'll be plenty busy w/o adding any more goals. Have a great week, everyone.

I completed my goal from last week. Did a Mykonos Marble quit and sent it off to my quilter in International Falls. Now started on another project from my box. It is called The Foldy Stuff, Round Cabin Quilt. This is a new technique for me, so will see how it turns out. LOL . Will show a pic of my unquilted Marble. Sue

Kim, your chevron quilt is going to be great. When I first looked at it, I thought "oh no, she has more mistakes than the one in the upper right corner." Then I realized that it is pieced in diagonal rows and it's all the same row that is out of place.

Sistersue, I love your quilt!

As I suspected, I didn't get much done this week. The embroidery block I wanted to finish still isn't done (but a little closer), and I haven't worked on DGD's blocks at all. I did get several more spool pin doilies done.

I also did a couple of things not on last week's list. I made one of those self-binding receiving blankets. If you make one, be careful when trimming the corners after doing the mitering. If you trim it the wrong direction it won't work! It's a good thing I was planning on making several and had extra fabric! I also made a block for the raffle quilt that I am collaborating on.

There are lots of things I'd like to do during the next week. I'm going to put more on my list than I really expect to get done and carry some over to the following week. What I work on first depends on what mood I'm in at the time. LOL

Get handouts for the mystery quilt ready to pass out at the next guild meeting.

Decide what I want to take to retreat next Thursday and get it ready.

Crochet more spool pin doilies so I have enough for everyone at retreat.

Work on DGD's quilt - try to get the "checkerboard" blocks done.

Think about what fabrics to use for the Lazy Sunday mystery quilt in Quiltmaker magazine.

Kim, love your Chevron quilt and it will be a beauty once corrected! Don't you hate when that happens! I've thought of doing one of these. Really like how they look.
Sue, beautiful quilt! We'll wait to see if after it's quilted. Love the subtle colors in it.
For this week I'll work more on the charms I'm using to build a quilt. Didn't quite finish the journal covers so will try to do those.
Nice seeing so many getting projects done and this thread really helps me keep on track!

What a great topic! I have a lap size wholecloth quilt I started at Christmas 2011. Once I had quilted enough lines done I put on the borders and bound it, and have been using it to stay warm while working (and more often NOT working) on it. Now it really should be washed, but of course all the pre-marked quilting lines will wash out when I do that, so I have to FINISH! Most of what's left is straight line grids so as long as my "under finger" doesn't get too sore I'd like to wash it by the end of the week.

Good for you, Kim!!!! It's a great feeling to see a project finished, isn't it?

Sandy-TwoStep- have fun on your retreat! If you need extra projects to work on there, I could send you a few Wink UFOs of mine!! Lol!!!

I didn't quilt or bind the Sunny Lanes quilt that I made last week, but I did get out a UFO and quilt and bind it! My "rule" is that for every two new projects I put together, I must completely finish one UFO before I can start anything new! It's annoying when I have so many new projects calling to me, but it is cycling UFOs out of storage and into gift stage!

I also decided that I need to clear/organize my sewing room this week! I did decide to use the antique dresser in my bedroom that was empty to keep finished quilts until they are given/put into use! That frees up a large tote for me to keep quilt backs. Been trimming scraps that have been left out and filing into shoeboxes by size. I may actually be seeing some of my work surfaces again!!! Whoo Hoo!!! I think it will probably take me the whole weekend to whip it into shape, but I am determined!

Next week, I'm thinking I may finish up another UFO since that felt really good!!

You are all helping me feel accountable! Smile

Once again those frogs are waiting for me in the basement. Maybe this week I'll get them quilted. Tomorrow is play day for quilt group, I hope to put together the blocks I made for a Potato Chip quilt and work on the mystery from January camp. It wasn't very big so I figured out how to add some borders and pieced blocks to enlarge it.

Keep calm and carry on

Kim-the more I see your quilt, the more I love it! Looks like you are definitely on the home stretch! I've actually made 5 quilts since the last time I got everything (er......Most things cleared and put away!)

But I'm doing it with a new resolve! I want my room that I can invite people into on a moments notice without a big apology or explanation!!

So, that means for Date Night tonight, I'm working on that while DH works on a computer consolidation! At least we're in the same room so it should still count as a date, right? Wink

Char- You have a definite list of things so I'm sure you'll accomplish each of them!

SewHappy- I have to ask (and it will probably turn into another project I "need" to make so TIA! Wink ) what is a potato chip quilt? It combines two of my ultimate favorite things! LOL!

I never met my goals for week before last, so I never posted new ones last week. Anyway, I finally finished my pincushions for the swap & got started on my QOV quilts for the retreat. Better late than never!

This week's goal will be to make a little more progress on the QOV. Big Grin

I finally got the quilting done on the baby quilt. I do not know why I procrastinated for so long. It wasn't that bad to do, and I even did some FM quilting on the borders and put the babies name on one. I will take a pic of it later. I have the two string quilts almost done. I am working on the borders on both of them. I have to go shopping for a backing for my cousin's quilt. I just did not find anything in my stash that would look good and decided I needed something darker than muslin. So, this weeks goals are much of the same. I am just trying to finish up the UFOs. Nice work everyone!

Gardenpat, Remember the saying "no one can eat just one"? I think that's why they named this quilt Potato Chip, it's so easy and fast to do you can't just make one!! I'm on my third one, it is brown and green. Here are pictures of the other two. It's just 7" squares bordered by 2 1/2" strips. They go together like nothing, you can add borders or not, make it any size.

I, along with a friend, have been working on a tshirt quilt. To prep the shirts, I cut the sashing and she stitched. Then during this past week, I joined them together and into rows. The goal this week is to prep for borders and get them sewn on.

I did not really work on my list I made on Tuesday - so I am going to keep working on that one with one addition: Create a 'go' bag for projects to take with me when I sew out of my house. Make it ready to go with all I need to sew elsewhere.

And I have to get my machine I take with me, back in working order so, I can go sew at someones else's house!! Wink

Beautiful pics on here. The potato chip one, hmmm!.....

I ended up giving away the one rotary cutter gifted to me. I did cut some of the gifted fabric and did a couple of blocks for Medemo's challenge. I also finished my purse I started a couple of weeks ago. ( It just needs a hair cut) This week I hope to get some more fabric cut for Medemo's challenge, but it will be a very busy week so we shall see if that happens.

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't met my goals for 2 weeks now. I got the BOM blocks done, but that is all I have done that is productive.
Next weeks goal is to sandwich the 2012 BOM quilt and get it done. I think I'm going to have to help DH remodel our closet in our bedroom. Don't think he can do that by himself. So no other goals to make.

So, my sewing room is looking better! (Still not finished, but much closer!) I finished off another UFO that was taking up room on a PVC quilt frame that I was then able to take down and put away! Instead of tying the quilt, I FMQd it with my regular sewing machine. So glad to have another one bite the dust!

Not my favorite, but it will be loved by a little one any way!

Here's a photo of it showing the quilting on the back.

I have finally finished my sweater, and I've pulled the fabric for the next row of my Row Robin. I spent time in my workroom, sorting fabric and consolidating boxes. Managed to empty one full fabric box. I've also managed to sew and stuff 22 pincushions and will spend this week embellishing them. Ten of them are for Lindsay's swap and the rest will go into my craft show stock (1st show of 2013 is on April 20). I will also be cutting out butterfly wings for Thearica's swap. Should keep me busy all week.

Thanks WQFC for posting this!
LOL! I did switch gears from plans I had written!
The Woven Jelly Roll Rug was a Moda Bakeshop project someone posted about awhile ago. I had saved it and thought I'd give it a try. Once you get the strips pressed in half it really went quite easily. I still have to put the rubber baking on and bind it.
I will make another... still have some strips left that will coordinate with this rug.
