Doll Quilts for 2013 - Picture Sign In/Join

I started some more doll quilts for the "Get Your Mrs. Claus" project for 2013. I found this pre-quilted fabric in my stash & had enough to make 3 quilts. They were so easy since the fabric was pre-quilted so all I had to do was put on the binding. I think they turned out cute. The front quilt shows the backing.

I'm not sure how many they will need for 2013 but Debbie said she is good for 2012 now. I guess we won't know the actual count needed until she gets word from the woodworking elves. It all depends on how many doll beds, strollers, etc. they can make during the year.

Oh yes Nancy, this will be an ongoing project & they will need these each year. I'm sure hoping a lot of help comes from our board again in 2013.

Jane, thanks for the offer WAY before I have even started asking for 2013 help. I've got you down for New Zealand for 2013. Well, I just happened on the pre-quilted fabric & wanted something quick to sew up & I thought a doll quilt or two would be perfect.

May I ask how this works. I am such a procrastinator, and have not actually did anything in quilting for so long, maybe i can get myself to start something small like this, since there is plenty of time. thanks,

Cathy, This site tells you what this is all about. http://stitchintherapy.blogspo...laus-on-project.html

For 2012 I thought it might be a good thing to see if our board would be willing to volunteer to make a doll quilt representing a state. I took Texas, Jane_Kiwi took North Carolina, etc. Well, we wound up representing each of our states & sent over 100 doll quilts to Debbie for this project. Most volunteers sent more than one quilt. I asked that the little quilts be sent to me in 2012 but will change that up for 2013 & ask that they be sent directly to Debbie. More details will follow at the beginning of the year. The quilts can be 12" x 18" or 14" x 18". This was such a fun project & I was so proud of what our board did for this cause.

Wiley, I'll put you down for Arizona & THANKS!

The pre-quilted, double faced fabric was given to me from a co-worker's wife but luvthosequilts is right....Jo-Ann's has it. It's pretty expensive but sure saves a lot of time. I made a back pack from it one time years ago & it sure turned out cute.

I just posted an offer from Joanns on my Facebook profile the other day. 50% on line or in store. I am not sure how to share that coupon here?
It is good till Oct 31.
but you can look me up and i will send it to you.

I think the pre-quilted stuff runs about $20 a yard. Yikess! And i have never seen any that would look good as a doll quilt. i will have to check again.

This fabric rarely goes on sale and when it does not for more that 30% or 40% so this is the time to use the 50% off fabric coupon... Chris

You beat me to it, TcMay!

May I also mention, if you are in the mood to make something small that most NICU's love to get these little quilts that they can use on tiny preemies and tuck under hoses, etc. They also drape them over the top of incubators to shield little eyes from bright lights and they cover tiny toes to keep them warm.

Re the prequilted material - I bought a length of plain beige quilted material on a clearance table and have found countless uses for it. Backs of table runners, pillows, mugrugs and straps and a lining for a bag.

quiltinnana2...I do quilt for our hospital NICU unit and all the other babies...We have to do qults 40 x 40 minimum to place over the top of the incubator's,when the hospital upgraded the units they needed larger quilts. A few of us also do the "Dimiss Quilts" so heartbreaking but so apreciated. Every little bit helps.

Thanks Nicki.....:smiling:

Oh my, I had no idea 2013 would start so soon. I've got Coco Cathy down for California & Aliquilts for Ohio. Maybe I better work up the list & post it. That will be a good thing for me this week-end.

Thanks ladies!

I'd love to help, but can't believe Aliquilt already took Ohio! Maybe you could have two Ohio's? or if we're doing foreign countries, I pick Italy because that's where dad was born.

McPatches, for 2013 you can pick any state or country...I will leave that up to you. If you want Ohio that will be fine. There's plenty of room in Ohio for two or more. Wink You just let me know what you want to do.

P.S. I'm asking that the little quilts be sent directly to Debbie for 2013 but I'm still wanting to know who is doing what so I have an idea as to how our board is contributing. I will provide her address to those who need it. I'll work up a new thread this week-end with the details.
