I had the exciting experience to meet Karla Alexander at the Pine Tree Quilt Guild May meeting in Augusta, Maine today. Karla is a wonderful speaker and shared with us her many pearls of wisdom and a breathtaking trunk (okay, suitcases!) show. I was smart enough to bring along all her books to have autographed, and was able to talk to her one-on-one about the NICU/Early demise quilts I am making (her latest book is on baby quilts).
So, after a day with nothing but fellow quilters, fabric sales and chocolate, it ended after I got home and found that my camera out of my tote bag was missing! Ah, all those super pictures of Karla and her quilts, our group's 30th anniversary cake and our everpopular "show and tell" pictures are all gone. Please pray it shows up, as the camera isn't the worst thing to lose, and I do save all my prints, but the master camcorder of my late husband's last visit with his namesake nephew taken three days before he passed talking to him is in the camera's memory. So, I am drowning my sorrow in pizza and hoping it turns up. I'm depressed--if I hadn't spent money at quilt shops today it would be worse, lol! See if there's a master list of attendees. An email with the story might get it to show up. Ask the shop owner to post your request. A friend told me of a professional photographer who photographed a wedding, stopped for a bite on the way home, camera was stolen, the tv stations posted a plea for the memory device and it was returned. The thief might have a soft spot.
The guild probably has an email list and can send the plea ASAP. This message has been edited. Last edited by: EVELYNB, |

The guild is going to post it on their website and all the officers have been notified of the loss. I will be sure to call the high school first thing Monday a.m. It could be worse--it could have been my JA credit card!

Ohhhh, KC, I would be devastated. There are some very precious moments on there. Kind thoughts going out to whomever manages to find it and return it to you.

I hope you'll get it back!! What a loss! I hadn't thought about putting my name on my camera either - I'll be doing that now!

I called the high school and the secretary found it! I drove an hour to pick it up, but not without a crisp $50 reward and thank you card! Hey, she could have just kept it (it was an expensive camera)and not bothered to call me back. I did have my former address inside, but it was out of state, so if she tried to find me that way, I would have been out of luck.
P.S. The pictures are super, and you can be sure I will guard that camera with my life from now on! I LOVE happy endings! "Try to do one good deed each day--you will be rewarded tenfold" Smile--people will wonder what you are up to! |

Wow...that was a really close call. I'm so happy that you found the camera. That would have been horrible had it not been found. I think it was a kind and generous reward that you gave and I'm sure it was totally unexpected by the finder.

So happy that you managed to get your camera back again. There are good people in the world too & you are lucky it was one of them who found it.

I have to laugh now. When I send blocks or fabrics for swaps, I have more ID on the inside of the package than the C_A! I updated my information inside the camera case (a good lesson for all of us is to learn by other's mistakes) and will make myself a quilted camera case to wear around my neck so that I will not lose it again. I hope that reward when towards a spa treatment (or some fabric, wink, wink!).
