That I get thru TSA/Security with all sorts of strange metal thingies & sewing supplies in my checked bag, without getting pulled aside & searched thoroughly?
I sent a lot of stuff home via mail but found some more good stuff today, after the boxes went. I've got everything in Ziplocs where I hope it can be easily screened. My only hope is to get a screener who's also a quilter.

Oh, and don't come back here with airport screening horror stories, because I'm already enough of a nervous wreck that my stuff will get confiscated!

I went thru air port security last week with 18 ceramic tiles in my carry on. Plus I had my normal stuff (book, purse, car keys) AND I had no problem. I wore a belt with my jeans and I am standing there waiting to take off my shoes and put my stuff on the conveyor when I remembered that I needed to take off the belt as it had a metal buckle. It took a couple minutes for my stuff to come out of the X-ray and I am thinking that they are going to search my bag BUT no they had a problem with the bags before me. So think positive that your stuff is going to be fine.

Coming here, I got thru security & to the gate, then realized that my carefully packed "3 oz. or less" bag was still in my carry-on. I had forgotten to put it in the tray at screening. Oops!
I figure security will be tight leaving here, since it's NY. Let's hope they've seen sewing stuff before...

In all the traveling I did with my job, I only got into trouble (scissors) once. And I usually carry crocheting materials/supplies wherever I go. Hooks, needles, scissors, etc.
My #1 DS asked me to spend Xmas with them and I ain't going. Not in the mood for the traveling/airplane hassles.
Hope your trip is hassle free. And you had a good time.

Thanks Paus -- I had a great time, as usual!
It always amuses me that Mahattan was purchased for $24 worth of beads & trinkets, and I come here to buy...beads & trinkets! Price has gone up considerably since the original purchase, though.

I flew into Branson from Newark NJ a couple of years ago. My circular knitting needles had no problem getting thru. However, on the way back from Branson, they searched my carry on bag for drugs.. Only thing in there was a couple of slices of apple walnut cake. lol At Branson, however, they did forget to book my bags all the way thru to Newark and they got stuck at Atlanta.. if you are not carrying everything on, make sure you check your luggage booking sheet.

Hooray, I made it home with all suitcase contents intact! Nothing confiscated. Whew! Am now awaiting the boxes of stuff I shipped home.
Nancy, I didn't see Ralph Lauren's daughter (wasn't in that part of town), but I did once again see Ralph's star on the Fashion Walk of Fame on 7th Ave. It's right across from Parson's School of Design, at the corner where the big needle & button are, and the statue in honor of Garment District workers. You have probably seen those on Project Runway. They've showed them in those rapid shots around town between segments.
I thought I saw Bethenny Frankel (of reality show fame/imfamy) in one of the stores, but it was a look-alike. No Martha Stewart sighting, but I did go to her "favorite" store (where she doesn't actually go but sends her staff instead...). No Swatch the dog @ Mood sighting this time, either. Must have been his day off.
And sadly, with all the bagels I ate, I don't think my Rockette costume fits right now.

Starry-LOL!! Shoulda used Spandex! Hey you could always get a Spanx-ROFLMBO!!!!
Yep...even with all the walking I did in the city, I'm gonna need more fringe on this old outfit...
I was at a costume supply store that sells all the tiny (and I do mean TINY) underthings you could wear under your Rockette costume. So now I guess I know some of the models' secrets on Project Runway -- whether I wanted to know them or not!
