... this summer I sent DGS, end of 4th grade, to an amazing talented art teacher to be tutored in - ART. They aren't getting much of that these days and I felt he was 'behind'. It was worth it all .... his water(tempera)color is standing next to the summer Bed Scarf I did last year - and aren't they pretty together. A friend invited him to hang it in her art show nect month but he declined .... dang it - but I'm getting it framed and really would like to have it seen as I think the experience not only improved skill but gave him new confidence.
Thanks for letting me share - obviously I am proud of him.

Sandie that's just awesome work from your DGS! Those 2 pieces look like they were done together & are beatiful. I can't believe he's only in the 4th grade & already doing that level of art. He really should have it displayed in the art show. Thanks for sharing it with us. It looks like he's taking after his dear Grandma!!!

P.S. -- I like your displays on the table...Wink

That is beautiful!!! I bet you could make some greeting cards or other neat things from one of those photo centers.

He did a fantastic job! I wish he would let it be entered into the show. Do you think you can twist his arm a little? Tell him all his "Quilty Aunts" say he needs to do it!!

Love seeing the quilt again too! Smile

He did an awesome job. Glad you got a chance to show us. Thanks Pat ps. I agree it could be made into note cards, calendar print, Just beautiful. Pat

.... gee Nicki - you'd think I had some KNOWN fav colors, huh? Wave
..thank you all for nice comments .... tonight I'm going to share them with him and try again to get him to show it .... he finished 4th grade doing stick figures without hands or feet .. and so this is indeed a 1000% improvement ... what a shame that so many schools are cutting out the liberal arts at the elementary level!

Beautiful painting! And I agree, there isn't much art in schools anymore. Nor recess Smile
Kids need to be creative and have free time or "down" time to process life.

Good morning Quilty Aunties ... Anthony was kind of smiley when I read all the nice notes. I asked if he knew what you all meant - he only thought for a moment: "that it's nice?" Annnnnddd says me .. funny kid asked if would give him some help on that one. He has never liked change or being the center of attention .. so I asked him to think about it today. That may be the 'twisted arm'. He knows I won't force him or go behind his back, but maybe a bit of gentle manipulation isn't too bad.

I'm glad that he will consider it. My son is the type that needs a 'nudge'. Afterwards, he is always so happy he did the activity. But, if left to his own devices, he probably wouldn't have done it.

Another thought...ask him what's the worst thing that could happen if allows the painting to be displayed?

It's a beautiful painting and I would hang it in my home in a minute! I hope he decides to let it be in the show. I know there would be many compliments about his talent at such a young age. His color placement is right-on and how nice it looks with your quilt! Thank you for sharing this special treat!

Love both the painting and the quilt. They look so nice together. Have you considered doing a photo transfer of the drawing and making a pillow or something?
