After coming here at the urging of my dear friend Tx Wildflower, some have asked to see more pics of work done by my mother and my grandmother when she was living. This was the original topic.

Triple Irish Chain Topic

Now I'll attach a few more pics that I have already on my computer. The first is an appliqued quilt made by my grandmother 28 yrs. ago that she gave me on my wedding day. It's called "A Wild Rose." This was all hand appliqued and quilted.

This was made by mom and my grandmother 25 yrs. ago for the birth of my first child, a son. I had them put loops on the top of it so that I could hang it on his nursery wall. Now it's stored in a cedar chest for him someday. It's a Holly Hobby baby quilt all hand done.

This quilt was made by my mom for me about 25 yrs. ago. I believe it's a trip around the world pattern. Someone may correct me on that because my memory isn't what it used to be. Big Grin

This was made for my daughter by my mom 22 yrs. ago at her birth. It's called either Tweety Pie or Love Birds. I can't remember that either. Maybe someone can tell me. It's stored away in a cedar chest for her to have someday.

This is the last one for now, and it's still a work in progress. It's a yoyo coverlet that my mom is making for me to use in my 3rd guest bedroom. She's been working on this for over 2 yrs. It will be a queen size coverlet once it's completed. I'm thrilled to report that it's 97% finished...so I should have it in a month or so in place in that bedroom. But for now, this is the picture that I have. She set the yoyos up in the Trip Around the World pattern. It took alot of planning and calculating on her part. She amazes me at her ability. I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of her work and just a small idea of my grandmother's work. Thanks for allowing me to share with you.

Paintlady, what a treasure trove you have! And not just the quilts, but the makers. How wonderful to have such talented quiltmakers in the family.

they are all lovely, but I think the best surprise is the yo-yo quilt. I have never seen yo-yos in that pattern before, It is remarkable. Thanks for showing.

You all have me really interested in this quiltmaking now. I found another picture that I forgot I had of my youngest sister's latest quilt that mom made for her. It's called Splash of Color. My sister lives in a log home and has this hanging from her balcony over the great room area. This was finished last summer.

Here's another view of my sis' Splash of Color. Sorry for the quality of the pics. They aren't the greatest with the lighting conditions.

Again, I am very impressed by these quilts.

Paintlady, you have a problem now........you're getting interested, and you're in a forum full of enablers. You'd better watch out, or you'll end up like Shauna Wink

I wanted to give you all a closer view of the yoyos. They're pretty tiny. I can't remember how many she said this coverlet would have in it when finished....seems like she said 6500.

So.....when are you going to try your hand at a project?? Big Grin Love all the pics - the yo-yo coverlet is just amazing!! I can't imagine making all the yo-yo's that went into this, much less having the foresight to plan it out and work accordingly Big Grin

Your son and daughter will be so thrilled when their quilts come back to them. I would give so much if I had something my grandmother had made for me.
