I'll be making several charity quilts this year, and would love some options on patterns that go together quick and easy, but are fun and geared for older children/teens. I have 3-4 fabrics each 2 yard cuts that I have set aside for these quilts...I'd love some ideas please, will be back later with a few pics of fabrics, seeing pics always gets my mind to spinning!

Back...here's fabrics I bought a couple years ago for 5 dollars a meter at a LQS that was going out of business near me I didn't relly know what I'd do with them, but liked how they felt, and the price... just unearthed them again and thought they'd be nice for the charity quilts.

Theres 3 fabrics on the left...the 3 in the middle will go with either stack...and 4 fabrics on the right.

I'm considering a rail fence or variation...just not sure???

This is a pattern that inspired me to make snugglies for my DGGSs last year. I modified the sizes/layout because I had the large squares on hand. I can truly say I made the top in one day. So quick and easy. If you're interested, I can help you with the sizes.

Have you tried the 'yellow brick road' pattern? It is easy,fast and has several sizes included in the pattern.

Did you consider making your own "jelly roll" and using your strips for a jelly roll quilt? I made a twin size quilt with one jelly roll and finished the quilt top in one afternoon. Just a thought.

I'm all bout the least amount of cutting and sewing for this project, as I have a huge list of quilts to get done this year, I'm currently working on 2, one top is nearly finished and the other will be awhile...but I wanna get these charity tops finished and off to the quilter as soon as possible, they will go to an orphanage, and after reading through the pages on the website...it seems teenage boys quilts are in the greatest need, as well as teenage girls following second. I was tossed around for a few years as a child in and out of foster care and hated not having anything that was MINE, a quilt would have warmed me to the core funny how we never forget where we come from, where we've been and where we are now...

Paus I'm pretty sure I've decided to use your first drawing as one top the fabrics on the right, still thinking on the other.

Perhaps warm wishes...I have done several yellow brick roads and they go together really quick too...I also have a layer cake with fish that I'll make up for a boy too...might have a look in my stash again for some tonals or solids and see if I can pull out enough for a Labryinth pattern for a male...I'm sure my pattern had twin size included...I know the one for my uncle was huge and took tons of fabric :\ sigh

KS: A little more food for thought. I did that pattern up with your fabrics, honest. lollll I think it looks pretty good. You have enough to do the stripes but you'll need about 3 yds to the squares and border. This is done as a twin size.

I used a dark olive green for the sashings, squares and the border.

The stripes can be changed to any size you'd like if there are too many for you.

Sounds as if you have some good ideas already. One last suggestion, contact Will quilt for chocolate. She has a really good pattern she made for a friend of ours and it makes up very quickly.

paus...just looking at your derawing...I'm estimating the squares @ 7" and rectangles to be 7"x? I've saved the pic...what size does the quilt finish at?

The squares are 6", the stripes are 6 x 18", the sashes are 2", the border is 1". It's a twin size and finishes at 72" x 91"

Thank you so much paus Hoping to get started on these next week! If not then as soon as Caleb is back in school...he likes momma to spend time with him...he's been on a cooking streak the last couple of days and finally his rash and allergies have calmed down, but I attribute that to to making his food from scratch, theres a preservative or additive that I haven't picked up on that is in something he normally snacks on...so I've had to be a detective...a T-ball coach, swimming instructor, and my favorite a snuggler

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Those fabrics are just, well, happy!

I can emphatize with him. One year during shopping on black Friday the soles of my feet and the palms of my hands started itching like crazy. After a few hours most of the itching went away. Then I started researching the internet and one site mentioned allergy. Now I was 60 at the time and had never had an allergic reaction. But after thinking about it I rmemberd I was taking amoxycillin for infection after I had teeth pulled. The first round did not affect me but the second round sure did. I quit taking amoxycillin and all the itching went away. I sure was miserable for a couple days. So now tne doctors have to look up an antibiotic I can take. So far no more reactions.
So think back is there something he ate that he did not have for a while. Sometimes it takes a little time to build up the allergy.
