Just out of curiosity as a person that has never even made a doll. What is the filling in these dolls? Please share. I so love them but would like to make them the correct way. TIA for sharing any info.
JUST DO IT TX WILDFLOWER!!! wow the response is excellent! i am very excited about this swap, want to finish up my current obligations so i can get these little beauties started. where is headilamar???
I also would be glad to add a little money and fabric for Roolen, to help with her postage. I am wondering if maybe we could all make one just for her. That way she would get one from all parts of our country. Tammy
Hello, I have been a lurker on the HGTV boards for many years but have never participated. I am not a quilter but I do sew and I love working with beads and do beaded cross stitch. I would love to join this swap if you'll have me. This is the most exciting thing I have seen on the boards and right now my imagination is working overtime.

Tisme...It is ok for you to make one just for roolen if you wish but I would ask that if you do, please put it in a seperate ziploc and put her name on it. Then I can keep everything straight.
If anyone else wants to make sure roolen has one of your dolls even though you may not get one of hers back, you can do the same as tisme.
Please keep it a secret as to whether or not you are actually going to make her one so she wont feel obligated to make so many dolls. We want this to be as fun for her as it is for us.
Hey Q - what a fun thing to see someone coming out of lurkdom for a swap - and yours is especilly interesting. Should make for some easy and exciting summer sewing. (I will make a decision soon - I need to get this swap done and there is considerable interest in doing another)
I haven't done any swaps (only 1 pc swap), but I ADORE dolls & these are sooooooo wonderful, so I'm tempted. Just looking at them makes my heart pound. LOL! I don't do swaps, because I'm always afraid I won't be able to finish, so right now I'm just thinking about this.
How many do we make? Or we just get as many back as we send? I'll have to go back & re-read the rules after dd goes to bed & I have a quiet moment.

Here is one of her comfort dolls that someone made. It has its own pouch to keep it clean. I know this isn't what you want Q, but I thought I'd show it in case anyone wants to made pouches for their dolls when the get them back, maybe to give as a gift. (and it is an angel too)
I LOve your Dotee's. I had said one swap at a time only (New Years Res.) but how can I pass this on up? I am in. by August 1 I should be able to work on them all summer while getting some sun.

I should be going to bed, but had to try making one of these dolls to see how it would go - my adrenalin is pumping. LOL! And actually, the one I'm working on is going pretty well, so I think I'll be able to do this. I'd think this one would be the hardest - making the pattern, deciding what stitches & beads, etc. to use....
I have a question - are the backs to be embellished too or just the fronts? I've been doing some surfing/searching & have seen/read about both.

Oh my...another swap! I love swaps...& this one is different. Please sign me up. But please be forewarned that I have never done anything CQ & will do my best.
Also...do we attach our "name/location" to these things so that we know who made what?
(I'm new to this forum & am overwhelmed by all the activity & variety!)

Visit Dot's photo album to see many of her dolls to help give you an idea of how to embellish them and what fabrics to use.
Pay attention to the exciting fabrics and sometimes they have made the front of the doll by sewing a different fabric to the top for the head piece.
NOTE: ALL embellishments must be sewn on...We dont want these falling off in transit. Thanks for understanding.....Please pull a few of your embellishments to the back of the doll so it looks pretty hanging on the collection trees some of us might put them on. You dont have to embellish the back as heavily as the front but please put a few on the back...Thanks a bunch...

YOUR CITY AND REAL NAME IS UP TO YOU.
