Tater chip quilts came up for me not too long ago, but I can't remember what I was really looking for...had some computer problems since then so I don't know if I can retrace my steps enough to figure it out. Know it was a search for something else that I wasn't sure of the name. Isn't it funny how we find ourselves so far from original goal when starting through a bunch of blogs? Call me "easily distracted"!
I'm pretty sure it's a 5" charm square with pre-cut 2 1/2" strips sewn around - 2 short 5" sides, other 2 sides length of squares. super fast, and if you use pre-cuts, very easy...addicting like potato chips...

The second link Nicki posted is where I got started on this quest. Then as I progressed I found the other patterns that were being called 'tater' or potato chips.
And, yes, each of the sites I visited said the same thing....you can't make just one of them. lollll
So we have a general consensus that the square with the strips around it are 'tater chips'? I can settle for that. Mystery solved.
Thanks for the links, Nik. The second one says it's an 8" square surrounded by 2" strips. Love it! How different the second one looks not using a solid.
