I know there was someone on here who made a quilt with the hunky men on it to take to a friend, of course I can't remember who :|

I want to make a similar one for my handicapped aunt to lift her spirits, she doesn't get many visitors and her favorite past-time used to be walking to the lake and having a picnic while checking out the fishermen and campers, she would always be in such a good mood afterwards. I found this fabric in the $5 bin here(which is unheard of in Oz) and snatched it up to make her a quilt...of course now my brain can't get around all the cutting and piecing as the guys are different sizes, some are sitting,some are standing, some are laying...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated ladies on a layout...I have found 2 other fabrics that play nicely in my stash, a yard of one and about 2 meters of the other which will end up being background. The quilt just needs to be twin size to fit her hospital bed. TIA

and another, there are only 5 guys, one is not shown, but he's standing and fishing, so she may have to feast her eyes on twins...I'm sure she really won't mind. I feel so bad for her, she hasn't been able to speak since her last stroke, but when I told her I had to come back home to Austrlia, she grabbed my hand, and started crying and said "NO" it broke my heart, so I just tried to make light of it so I just simply said I have to go home to get started on your next quilt, she smiled...so this is my perfect after Christmas project, hoping to get it made and shipped out soon, so she can enjoy it before Valentines day

It had to be Jacky. She had quite the thing going for a long time with good looking, hunky men.

Off the top of my head, I'd suggest a 3, 6, 9 type pattern. Since the sizes of the hunks are different. You showed the height of the pieces but not the width. So this is my guesstimate on sizes.

Earlier this year I made a quilt for my DGGSs and the pattern is pretty simple and was very easy to make. I used 6" squares from an alphabet swap I'd done some time ago so the blocks were built around those squares. You could do the same.

You just add borders or pieces of other fabrics to enlarge so all the blocks match

You didn't say if you were planning on adding any quilt blocks so I just used solid colors in my additions.

This is one of the quilts I made for the kids. The pattern worked out well, I thought, for using a focus fabric.

I need to fussy cut them and add a border around each block with the yard of fabric...then lay them out and build them from there. I'm liking the ieda of maybe adding more colors, will have to go stash diving again. not really wanting to add different blocks, as I want the hunks to be the focus...we'll see...lol, this is gonna be FUN and I wish I could be there to see her face when she opens it.

Maybe a shadow quilt would work well, like we do with t-shirts.

I just made this for my sister for Christmas. She's been widowed twice and complains she doesn't have a "companion". Now she can sleep with a hunk whenever she wants (its a nightshirt). Found a little over 2 yds of fabric at St. Vincent DePaul thrift store for $1.50.

I forgot to take a picture but I used hunky patriots to make a tote bag and accessories for my niece. She kept talking about the nak ed men.

A couple of years ago Florida Farm Girl made a quilt with the hunky guys for a friend. Evidently too long ago to show up in a search here but maybe she'll be along later to post a pic.

Martha, you're right. Was in the process of replying when I got interrupted.

Here's my Nine Patch Pizzaz made for my girlfriend who lived in Texas at the time. I was determined that she'd have a cowboy of her own!! You could easily replace the nine patches with solids or just blocks of coordinating fabrics to make it go faster.

She sleeps with him regularly.

Most certainly Paus! Thank you it's very similar to a pattern I've just started working on again...I had cleared my table for Christmas dinner in 2011 and lost my magazines with the patterns, I was combining 2...they are essentilly the same block just a bit of a different layout.

I have already started cutting and sewing unfortunately...but thanks again for thinking of me

here's one I did for friend,construction guy.

Did cowboy for DGD.Have done pillow cases,coasters and pot holders.Did pillow case out of the out door guy.

although my aunt Phyllis can't speak, when I call my auunt that cares for her, if my aunt Phyllis is awake she always holds the phone to her ear and lets me talk to her...my aunt tells me later that she smiles the whole time I talk to her, well Phyllis has been sick lately, so I rang on the weekend and had my aunt put the phone to her ear...I told her I was making her something she would love,and it had to do with 5 sexy men...she litterally laughed out loud, and said "NO" once again... and I replied you just wait and see... she then laughed once more and said "k"...ahh how I wish I was there daily, my aunt reckons I'm good therapy for her, because she can't / won't speak to anyone else. She and I have a specil bond because she was my playmate growing up, although she was a grown woman, she was very child like due to an accident and illness when she was younger. So she was essentially my first childhood friend and I love her dearly, and am hoping to put huge smile on her face...

Tryig to think of something to hang from the ceiling as well near her bed, so she'll have something to look at...any ideas? I was thinking something along the lines of a mobile if theres enough leftover fabrics...

That is a wonderful story about your relationship with your Aunt. We have too few of them in our lives. I know she will love your quilt. You are both blessed.

Paus, that looks suspiciously like an "Around the Twist" by Trudie Hughes pattern, only with some fussy cutting. I really like the quilt! May have to try that one. LOL I still have her book. Thanks for posting it.

That pattern I think has a lot of names, here I have 2 books,one refers to it as garden trellis, and the other as garden maze.

The more I look at it paus I think I'm gunna have to add a few appliqued hearts and maybe kisses to my aunts quilts, they are just to cute and a nice touch!

I really like the interlocking patterns; I've only tried them three times but they bring me pleasure when I see them.

I think the name, "Girls just want to have fun" is only because of the center fabric. The 'pattern' itself is interlocking squares by any name.

KS: After reading of the relationship between you and your aunt, I'm sure she will enjoy the hearts and kisses you add, and just knowing it came from you.
