Are you ready?

I used 6 pounds of rice! LOL Guess what DH and I are going to be eating lots of? He will be happy - his DD was a rice farmer. Smile

That 6 pounds of rice according to the package servings list equals about 15 cups of rice. This thing sure doesn't look as if it holds that much. Since my geometry stinks...we'll go with 10-15 cups of those lightweight beads.

Y'all get your fabric squares ready. Thread that machine. Oh...you need something to make a loop at the top...sorta like a loop on a hot pad. I used a piece of rickrack.

I've got to go fold a load of clothes...be back at the top of the hour.

Roll call. Anyone else here?

I don't have any chocolate except for baking chocolate, but that hasn't really stopped me before. So if I go missing it's just to make a run to the pantry. I've got a frozen margarita so if I start slurring my words be sure to let me know.

Howdy teacher... Wave
I can't sew tonight but will be following along in class. Do I get any credit for auditing the class? I'll sit up front so I can see (cause I'm short). Wink

Come on down to the front. No elbowing!

Put that little loop in the top left hand corner. Then sew all around leaving an opening in the bottom for pouring in that 50 pounds of rice... Wink

I set the stitched point of the flattened out corner at the 2 1/2" mark on my ruler. (Or 2 3/4" if you count the seam allowance.)

Mark - I used a sliver of soap on this dark fabric. Stitch...

Remember...don't sew the looped corner!

Very good question nlk! Glad you are already at the front of the class so you don't have to get up and move.

Anything that makes a loop will work. I really don't know what it's for except to single that one corner out, I just thought it needed a loop at the top. Big Grin

Very carefully pour those beads in. For the rice, I clipped one corner of the bag and stuffed that corner in the opening at the bottom of the pillow.

I don't know if a funnel would work or not.

That's polyfil stuffing in this photo. It's not a good substitute for the beads.

The beads in the airline pillow that quiltywife mentioned would be good. I have a cruise pillow that is so lightweight...if I be-at someone with it the only way that they would die is if they laughed themselves to death. I think those beads would work in this.

Sew up the opening. Adjust your pillow to suit your needs.

(Remember this is polystuffing and not very good for this pillow.)

Kindle or Nook
regular book
cookbook in the kitchen
etc...

Wow! These instructions said to fill with RICE or whatever other material you have on hand. Big Grin So I'm not too far off base with my rice. I'm excited. Smile Yep...doesn't take much to excite me.

Someone last year put these in pdf form and made them available. I hope someone does it this year. hint-hint...

Here's another thought. If you get a little crick in your next from reading you can take the little bag (only if it has rice in it) & heat it up a bit in the microwave & put it on your neck for relief. How's that for a 2 in 1 project? Smile
