This was a fantastic P.J. Party & thanks so much for hosting it. You were great with the insructions & pictures & everything was so easy to understand. THANKS! Gotta go see what DH is needing in the kitchen. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

It's a little heavy But have an idea I might just but batting in the top sew a line and then fill the bottom with the beads. The different one on the link is nice too. Erma
|
I'm a little late to the party, but I think my younger DD and I will be making one tomorrow.
|
Thanks Sherry this was a fun class. I really needed this one. I read in bed and I prob up pillows to help keep my books and reader straight. This will also work nice on my lap when I use the e tablet. See you at the e reader cover class. Erma

Y'all are more than welcome! You might be able to shave another inch or so off the measurements of the rectangles. Check for foam beads...that's what's in my cruise pillow...really lightweight. However, I don't know if they would "hold up" to molding and stay in place with the e-reader... Erma, that might work. Stuff the top 'point' firmly with batting, sew a seam across and fill the front with beads. That is similar to the link I put in from quilting widow. Y'all have a good evening! Hugs and stitches. Oh...never mind...just looked up the recipe and it calls for coffee liqueur. I don't like coffee. Can we put chocolate in it instead? I didn't get here in time for the class, but I like the look of the pillow. I like to read in bed too, and this will come in handy. Thanks, KYIS.

Great class...I have company and couldn't play, they just headed to bed so thought I'd check in to see Teach in action. Terrific project. Thanks Teach... May "In Michigan"

I'm Late just got home. Pictures are great I think I can follow the directions easy enough. 1 problem I have never made a tote bag so, teacher, how do you make a box bottom? Sorry to be a problem child. Oh I did eat 2 cookies! Thanks, shequilts Sew, sew, and sew some more that's my motto!

I just did Jack and cherry/coke with my cookies. will post pictures when I get finished. Thanks Sherry for hosting the PJ Party. SUE B The smallest Cross in the corner is the one you put in the room. Sorry I'm late, Sherry. But I did just get done having ice cream and apple slices with hubby! You did a great job with this. The reader pillow I made does hold my generation 1 Ipad well without problems being too soft. I have liked the lightweight factor of my mix of batting and micro styro beads. When I have used the poly plastic beads it gets too heavy to hold on my lap. I want to see pictures of what others have made now. Madelyn

Well, I wasn't here for the party, but wanted to check in and read through everything. I have an iPad and a case for it, so I'll give this some thought. So it's like a bean bag chair for your devices, huh? Cool! Great job as a teacher, Sherry!
|
Thanks for teaching this. I had grandkids over and wasn't able to participate tonight. I have tucked away the instructions for later.
|
I enjoyed the party this morning. It was a great project and very useful. Sorry I wasnt here last night but our high school football team played on national TV and I had to watch with DH. It was very exciting. So today I will be making the E Reader Pillow. Thanks, teach.

Lisa-Tx, the reader pillow that I made lets me put my Ipad in landscape direction and I can flip the cover over the top to be out of the way. Mine is made just a bit different than the picture that the site shows. I couldn't find the same site to share with Sherry. here are a couple pictures without the cover. Madelyn ![]()

quiltywife, Thanks for posting your pictures! I hoped you would LisaTX - That is EXACTLY what DH said when he saw it!! shequilts - I'm about to leave for DHs family reunion. He's already left to open the building so I'm running late... Hopefully someone will answer your question. I'll check in later today...if I'm able... Sheqilts, to make a bag bottom picture the side seam of a tote bag where it meets the bottom seam or fold of the bag. At that bottom corner of the bag lay the bag on the table and spread it flat with the side seam laying directly on top of the bottom seam/fold. Then measure in from the point of the side seam corner about 2 1/2 inches up the seam. Draw a straight line across the seam from side to side. Pin the two layers in place and sew on your drawn line. The repeat for the other corner. This makes a tote bag have a squared off bottom that will sit flat. For the ereader pillow, you are to square off the three of the four corners in the same manner. I hope this helps. If not come back and let us know. Someone with better words or pictures will help. Madelyn

shequilts This is after sewing the two pieces together all around leaving an opening in the center bottom to turn. Now...pick up a corner, pull on the top and bottom fabrics and bring the seams together. Sherry Does this hat make my butt look big? www.keepyouinstitches.blogspot.com http://s193.photobucket.com/al...9/keepyouinstitches/ www.friendsofthedaingerfieldpu...library.blogspot.com ![]()

Pick a line on your ruler and center it down the stitched line. The sewn point is at 2 1/2". Mark the stitching line. Pin if needed. Stitch. This message has been edited. Trim the point off, zigzag or serge raw edge. Remember, do this on three corners of this project...not the corner with the loop. Here's a bag with a bottom made the way I do it: http://esostarikaknitfo.blogsp...5/easy-tote-bag.html There is another way to do this. http://www.lazygirldesigns.com...tom-corners-of-a-bag Sherry Does this hat make my butt look big? www.keepyouinstitches.blogspot.com http://s193.photobucket.com/al...9/keepyouinstitches/ www.friendsofthedaingerfieldpu...library.blogspot.com

Thank you so much Quilting wifey and Keeps Youin Stitches. That really helped and you did a wonderful job of explaining. I can get started in the morning. When I finish mine I will post a picture. Great class and I look forward to the other classes. Sheila Sew, sew, and sew some more that's my motto!

Sherry, I didn't get a chance to make this (I was working last evening & this evening too) but it looks like a handy thing to have! Right now, when I take my Kindle to dinner, I prop it up on S&P shakers! Maybe when I finish my Scraps to Treasures I can get one made

Thanks for the compliments and the class. I'm always afraid of leaving a step out and making it clear as mud. How'd y'all like my fabric? snicker I have absolutely no idea where that came from. People are always giving me fabric that they had stored or from a family member. I made some grocery tote bags for stepD for Christmas and had enough left for this project's "prototype." That being said...I had a similar piece years ago...black with HOT PINK dots about that big. I made a garment of some sort...shorts and top or something...maybe a short jumpsuit that was popular in the 1980s. And YES! I wore it!!! • • • Dang,I missed all the FUN. Great little project Sherry, Thanks for taking the time to share. I wonder what ever happened to my bean bag chair? I can't recall seeing it since the last move. Obviously I'm not using it, so it would be perfect to fill these up. As for creating pdf files, if you send me jayardi@wi.rr.com your document I can convert it and add it to the PJ Party link below. ▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲ Life without quilting is not an option! • • • • • MY Photos • • • • • • ENJOY! Document?! What document? I just winged it through the class. I'll put one together and send it to you maybe some time later this week. I missed all the fun... but I can see how handy one (or a few) of these would be and have put it on my Make Someday list. I LOVE to read/surf the web from the comfort of my bed but my biggest fear is that I fall asleep & drop my iPad. Perfect solution!

The pretty blue pillow on the left weighs 7 ounces. It is larger in size that the "rice" reader on the right. The rice filled reader weighs 6 pounds. That's a big difference. Look at this. LOL With a bit of tucking and perhaps running a row of stitches to make a lip to rest the Kindle on... LOL And we spent all that time just so we could say, I made it myself. If you can find any of these pillows at thrift store, buy them (I would stick it in a pillow case and wash it in the washing machine), rip them open, and use the innards to stuff your reader pillow. Good idea. I have at three that are all stretched out. One even has a knot on it to take up the slack and one is in the closet because of a small hole. I will refill the kindle holder and let you know. edit---If only I could typeThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Happy Erme, Erma

I didn't get the Kindle pillow made but I did make the cell phone holder last night. Love it!!! I don't have a cell phone but it worked great with my cordless. I've got five I know I'll be making. Took just minutes to put it together, the filling took a little longer. When I get a new camera cord, I'll post a photo.

Paus, In addition to posting it here, start a new thread too so that more people will look! Sherry Does this hat make my butt look big? www.keepyouinstitches.blogspot.com http://s193.photobucket.com/al...9/keepyouinstitches/ www.friendsofthedaingerfieldpu...library.blogspot.com

OK, there are no stuffed animal pellets to be found in this thriving metropolis where I live. Soooooo plan B is to...... Create a 'foot' for the pillow like in the cell phone holder and fill that with rice or beans, as yet to be determined. Then put a base of beans in the bottom of the pillow, lotsa beans. Put a piece of cardboard over that and stuff it with poly. I have a huge bag of the darn stuff so I can really stuff it. It won't be squishy but I think it will hold the touch pad I'm making it for. Comment? Suggestions? I need to make this pronto to get it in the mail.
