HST Swap Guidelines

We will be swapping one for one!

#1
Blue background prints on one side and white on white, (WOW) on the other.
AND
#2
Green background on one side and white on white, (WOW) on the other

(Hold on to the Black and White hst's that swap will be coming up near the end of summer)

100% cotton, washed, ironed...

You can have any blue or green background material with any kind of smaller print on it.

1/8 yard should give you 4 – 5” blocks
¼ yard should give you 8 – 5” squares
FQ should give you 12 – 5” squares
½ yard should get you about 24 and
1 yard should get you about 56, of course, these numbers depend on width of fabric. These are all approximate numbers.

Blocks: Block size 4 ½ to 4 3/4. Prefer the larger. If you are using a 5 x 5 nickel for this swap, which I first intended for this swap, it works out just dandy. Check your measurements on the first block you sew and see if you have to reset your needle position. If you send in a 5 x 5 because you have larger blocks to start, that’s okay. Better larger than smaller. Draw a diagonal line on the light fabric and sew a scant ¼ inch on each side of the line. Draw all three lines for precision sewing if you wish. Again, remember to check your first sewn block for size and adjust your needle position if need be.
Cut and press open to the dark side. Trim your ears!!!

Sets: One set = 6 HST’s
Please keep all alike to the same set. Limit of one set of the same material.
One less set - than the number of swappers
(This may change pending on how many sign up so keep an eye on the swap.)

Packaging:
Each bag sent in must contain a card with your name, address and HGTV name and mine on the other with your blocks labeled.

Mailing:
Mail in a sturdy mailer. Tape closed if necessary. Include a self mailer with STAMPS to equal the postage amount it takes to send to me plus one extra 41 cent stamp loose in a separate bag, incase it’s needed for the return trip. Will send back if not needed.

PM me to get my mailing address and give me yours along with your telephone number. I would like to have an idea of how many sets you will be sending so I can plan a day or two to swap out and back to you in 7 – 10 days\

I hope this is fine for directions...all is on my computer...still at the shop. Frown Eek

If you have any questions, ask away, but it may be a bit before I can respond to them. I am at the library at least once a week.

Just to let you know I will be joining your Blue and Green swap. I will let you know how many of each color later. I'm sure that you will be happy to get your puter back home from the doc. I went through withdraws last summer when I didn't have internet for over a month when we were staying in Virgina. ( the RV park that we were in didn't have internet hook ups.)

And all the e-mail to catch up on will be my real corker. Work that needs to be caught up on...newsletter, flyers....yikes!

hidngat39, Patch said, she didn`t have many sign up for the B and W, so she was going to hold off on that swap until later. If you already sent, I am sure she will hold yours until then.

Ooooh man, I just Mad_ate not having my computer....
But I'm not pushing the matter, I have been in the fellas shoes and know what it's like so I patiently await the return of my baby...

June 15th is the due date for the blue and green swap.

Sorry to get you confused with the B & W swap. Thought I had touched base with all regarding the due date for that one. Frown

Life is not the same without a computer when you have relied on it for so many things...like a job, fun, quilt inspiration, YOU ALL!

Still doing what I can while I can with the swaps. The B & W i suppose had better be traded before the all out last swap dohn't cha think? So maybe we can squeeze a purple in there with the B & W. I won't do that until after labor day, so that is the tentative date for that swap then, will come the final White and White on White swap. Geesh, had IA ever thought about a black with any print all out swap? I'm getting myself in deepr and deeper here...HELP!!

I have my nickels ready to go for the swap but to be honest, I don't know when I'll have time to sew...

Well hubby says it's time to head back home, he's got his chores done here at mom's...

Later all...

Miss you

~Patch

Have a great day!!!!!

New to this type of swap....are these from washed or unwashed fabric? Do you have set swaps each month? (I saw the message on the B & W changed to summer)

The B & W or 30's repros would be ones I would be very interested in if you plan on doing those in the future. Send me a PM when you decide and I will join the group...thanks!

Patch, I'll check my stash of nickels tonight and let you know, I might do some of these. I made a flying geese top Friday night that these would work great for another one.

I just spent two days with 5 YO DGD - now I want to get started on these but I believe my brain is not functioning well.

Can someone please clarify for me:

1 set = 6 HST's. So, I'll be using only 3 5" squares of any particular blue or green. If that is the case, why the math for getting lots more? I could have sworn the last time I did this swap I submitted more than one set per fabric but it could be because there were more swappers.

Then, further down, something about one set less than total swappers. Since we don't know what that is I'm assuming this is moot and we're still going with a total of 6 HST's using a particular fabric. Or does it mean - example: 6 swappers, limit would be 5 different fabrics limited to one set each. I'm confusing myself more.

Am I on track??

Oh, and I still need Patch's address.

Thanks in advance.

Linda

This is my opinion royalboomer, 1 set is 6 HST made with either blue or green and wow. The rules for doing the number of sets is do one less then the number signed up, so you don`t get any of your own back. The numbers Patch has put up is for if a lot were playing. Seems the number falls off every time. What you said about 6 swappers, 5 different sets of 5 different fabrics is correct.

Thanks Tisme. Doesn't look like there is much interest this time around. Frown I did the batik one some time back. Maybe it is just the time of year.

I started the HST's but I don't have a good feel for the number of swappers we actually have. I'm even wondering if the swap is even still a go.

The next two weekends are going to be busy and I had needed to complete these before that time. I am sorry but rather than disappoint anyone I think it is best if I withdraw my initial interest. I do understand the tribulations of having computer problems and hope that Patch does some more of these when she is up and running once again.

I am still alive and kicking....
I do have a computer but the fella put on so many levels of permission, I can't do anything on websites....I can get there, but can't do nothing, so it's back to the library until I can get him back again.

The swap is still on, Due June 15th. Blue and Green with WOW.

I will have to double check above if Royalboomer is in or not. I will delete her if she's listed.

Seems since the first part of the year the hst's have been slow, so that is why I'm about done with them. A couple more rounds and that is it!.

Good and bad feelings about it all. Frown Smile

So it goes. And since I am not active at all on this anymore due to the computer thing, I have honestly not been sewing much. HELP!!!

But I will stick to my commitment of the hst swap and get that over and done with.

Keep in touch on this thread. I can get the e-m's but can't respond yet unless I come to the library.

Later gals...

I do miss you all!!!
