I made this little quilt for AAQI. The block in the center is called "Ship's Wheel" so I added some stars for navigation and called the quilt "Sail Away".

Martha another stunning quilt. I need to go to AAQI site and see who won the drawing for Bright Star that you donated.
Shogun keep up the good work.
Susan
ETA: Martha went to AAQI saw that BrIght Star was won by someone and that it had a nice donation. I was flabbergasted to see how many minis you have made for AAQI. Makes me wonder over how many years you have done this. Thank you for helping to raise so much money for the Alzheimers Assoc. i also looked to see if you have any current quilts for sale or up for auction and i could not find any. I'm guessing the one you just showed us will be auctioned or for sale soon? Sure wish AAQI would do a feature on you, showing how you make these minis. Uhm, is there a tutorial on YouTube or some place where we can see you make magic happen?!This message has been edited. Last edited by: ~~Tx~~ Wildflower,
Bozie, another lovely little quilt. I saw "in person" two of your quilts over the past weekend and they are far more gorgeous for real than the pictures show. I am now even more astounded at the wonderful work you do.
Susan, I didn't remember just when I started making minis so checked my Photobucket pics for a date. Looks like it was in 2007 so about 5 years ago. Neicy mn here on the boards was having a mini quilt project and I joined in for a while and eventually got the courage to send one of mine to AAQI..
I don't have any YouTube videos. The closest to that is the pattern for "Cranberry Relish" that was serialized in the AAQI Update Blog a while ago. If you want to check it out the first installment is here. You can get to parts two thru five by clicking the link near the top of the page. Once you get past the intro stuff the text in normal font is what I wrote and the stuff in italics is what Ami added to make it more teacherly. (For instance I would never instruct people to prewash their fabric. I always do but figure that is a personal preference.)
As for when this latest one will be available for sale or auction my best guess is sometime in January. There are six more of mine in line before it not to mention hundreds of ones other people have made.
Florida Farm Girl, glad to hear two on my little quilts were lucky enough to get to meet you in person.

I heartily agree with Fl Farm Girl. Your work is unbelievable. Texas Wildflower brought 2 of your minis to the retreat last weekend. They are so much prettier in person, if that is possible!
Bozie thats wonderful the work you do and that you donate them. I wish I had your talent but my fingers get in the way LOL.
I have the batik baby quilt ready for the binding. I just SID but have some puckers due to the flannel on back and my walking foot. I think I will purchase a generic walking foot and try that. The Janome one isn't any where as good as the generic one I had for my little singer. I also have DH's purple quilt in rows and am in the process of sewing them together. His will be quilted on my quilting machine. I have a lot of blocks made up to do tops for QWL so as well as 1 quilt for each my BIL and DS. I can say my cup runneth over LOL.
Love the solid backgrounds on the quilts, Sherry. Really calms down the quilt and highlights the novelty fabrics. The last ABC quilt I made I used a busy background fabric and it's just a mess. Learn those lessons but making mistakes. LOL
I finished a tote bag started in my scrap quilt group this week. It's an interesting way to make one, similar to clothesline quilting but much easier using strips of fabric with strips of batting sewn inside. Here's a video showing how to make the strips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPeDEbs3tm0
This is the Bailey Island Hobo bag. It's always good to use up scraps of fabric as well as scraps of batting. It used a lot of thread but I didn't have to go shop for that! LOL
I'm trying to perfect a pattern for fleece bears to give to first responders when children are at a crisis. Our guild does them in quilting fabric but I love the feel of the fleece. I decided I wanted to embroider a face on it too. Looking at the photo I'm thinking it needs a bigger belly and shorter legs.
Evelyn, I agree that your bear needs a longer torso & shorter legs. Love your bag too.
Sherry, those ABC quilt really turned out nice!
Bozie, I so love your work...but you already know that. Where do you find the tiny prints that you sometimes use? I find it really hard to find the right scale prints.
I finished a baby quilt this week. It's "Woven Ribbons" from QuiltersCache.
Added more length to the belly and curved the arms upward. I want it to be happy looking. I tried a different face but the stitch out isn't very good so I'm going to use the big smile from the first trial. I think I'll see if I have some bright yarn to crochet a scarf for the neck now. Still think it needs more belly and less legs. Working on bear 3. It's so nice to be retired and have time for fun projects at 1am. LOLThis message has been edited. Last edited by: EvelynB,
Bear 3 is better but not perfect. I really like the bigger belly. I couldn't find any bright yarn in my stash so I used some of the leftover to make a scarf for Bear3.This message has been edited. Last edited by: EvelynB,
Loved everything I've seen on here. Nice work ladies! Finished this baby quilt (his name on corner) for DD's friend who is about due with first baby. She said "the room is SAGE" so I wanted to use up scraps. The border and popper are from JoAnn's Fabric and it is a current print.

Bozie, I saw a couple of your minis at the recent Magnolia retreat. I always knew they were mini, but seeing them in person makes me appreciate just how small and intricate they are! I'm even more impressed now!
Great projects as usual, ladies!!
my philosophy: there are no real mistakes in quilting, just design opportunities!!
It's so cool to hear that some of my minis are getting to go out and have fun.
Angela, one place I find small prints is in C/W repro collections. RJR's "Little Pretties" has a lot of tiny floral prints that I've used a lot. Lately I've been using some fabrics that have larger designs printed on them. As long as the printing is done with fine lines or small dots, once the fabric is cut into small pieces you get a tone-on-tone effect without actually seeing the larger design elements. Both the red and blue in the quilt I just posted are like that. I'll attach a scan of the blue. The largest leaves are about 1.5"

Those are awesome, Becky. Can't help but smile at the cute snowmen. What size are the squares in the ornament quilt. It's hard to get perspective. BTW Is the tree limb 3-d? It looks great! This message has been edited. Last edited by: EvelynB,
I'm checking in late to this week's thread. Very nice projects. All of those gifts are wonderful and inspiring. I hope to share a few soon that will be gifts for family. Bozie, those stars are twinkling. Really pretty.
The squares for the ornament are 5 1/2 inches and the limb is frayed to about 1/2 inch to the center as are the the little shutes off the main branch. Thank you all for the compliments
Neat items everyone. This was my baby blanket sewing week. Did everything twice, one for a baby shower Saturday for a coworkers wife and the other set for a tag from the christmas tree at c-h-u-r-c-h... Chris

These are preprinted panels I bought a bolt of at a rummage sale. Love the multicolor blanket binding I got at Joanns. Those are the two sides of the print... Chris
