Tree Skirt Quilt Along
Remember our tree skirt quilt along we started last year? Well, I almost have mine done. I have a couple more border pieces to sew on and then sandwich it together. I am determined to get this done before I put up my tree this weekend. I'll post a pic when it is ready for the tree.

Mine is the Diamond Log Cabin. The pattern is for either a tree skirt or a table topper. It was going to be HUGE if you followed the pattern, so I left off a round to make it smaller. It is still plenty big.

I was at my sisters' house (not Sue) and we were going through my Moms stuff and I was allowed to take the Cranberry tree skirt that Sue and I made for Mom a number of years ago. We did fusible applique and it is a unique skirt. I'll show a picture of it tomorrow,

But I never did start or finish the one I was going to make this year. I'm embarrassed. Pat

Very nice. Bet the presents didn't stay under the tree for long so these could be seen and admired.

I did get the rest of the border on last night and I have the backing pinned on. The pattern says to put it together in a pillow case fashion. Now to add the batting and sew the layers together. It also says to tie the quilt, but I will probably quilt it. I may tie it for this year so I can go ahead and use it and quilt it after Christmas.

Here is my picture, but I haven't fixed the bows and it looks like it needs washing before I can use it. There are white spots on it and I can't imagine what caused that! Pat

Sooo very pretty and looks challenging....

If you still have not sewn your T-skirt it does not get any easier than this Tutorial on cornbread & beans quilting @wordpress site....take a stitch and decide.Do you have a Xmas Charm pack laying around collecting ideas...you could use it here with another fabric and get from 30" to ???? with borders...

Are you talking about the front or the back. I appilquied the front Santa's and someone gave me the back fabric. I'm so sorry I don't think I have anymore. I'll look for ya though. I'm happy to share the love. I just adore my Santa's.

These are great.
I have to share...
a customer came into the shop in a rush today about 1:30, grabbed some bolts of purple, gold, turquoise, & said she's making a new tree skirt for her Christmas party TONIGHT!!!!!
Can you imagine?
She has made all her Nightmare Before Christmas ornaments & wants a tree skirt to match.
I hope she made it.

Whoops, sorry J Lu, I just reread your pst and see the Santa's were appliqués! They are beautiful, will have to think about doing something like that in the future.

I still need two skirts but didn't get even one started this year. Maybe next year!

J Lu, I was talking about the front with the Victorian Santas on it. I dumped out our(Sues' & mine) basket with Christmas fabric in it and all I could find was a very small piece, but not the Santas. Think I'm going to start looking on the net. I'm pretty sure I bought it from Joannes, but maybe I can find it on e-bay.
Wonder what the tree skirt will look like when it is done, Quiltzilla?? Bet it would be a nightmare. LOL

I got my tree skirt all together, but it is not quilted yet. I went ahead and put it under the tree anyway and I'll quilt it after Christmas.

Oh, all of these are such gorgeous skirts!

We started on setting up the tree this morning. Mom has a circular tablecloth that we always just fold in half and scrunch up under the tree.

I don't know why I've never made her a tree skirt. What a lovely idea.

Maybe that is what I should do as my challenge next year in the Crazy Quilt Journal Project for 2013? If I do a wedge each month, I'd have a lovely crazy quilted tree skirt done by December....just saying!

Lovely skirts everyone! I keep wanting to make one for myself and never do...these are so lovely I may just have to do it soon!

Shawkl...great idea! That is what Susie Wolfe did this year for her CQJP 2012. I don't have her site but you might on your 2012 JP blog?? She did it in all pinks and light greens and sparklie sparkles. She was working on the diamond blocks at the CQI retreat.

Patty thanks for the complement I do love anything Victorian. I have a few smaller ones downstairs in my stash I'm not sure just how many but, I'd be happy to send them off to a fellow Santa lover. All of those skirts are beautiful. Meme love it. Kathy you always make a pice of material like a piece of art. I can't wait to see what you make. Miss you girl. See you in April.
