Put a small bowl of vinegar in and heat it. Then wipe down tge entire oven, outside and inside with vinegar. Place a couple of pieces of bread in the oven (no heat) and let them sit for hours. Done it with burned popcorn. Yuck

Mom would put the filter with old coffee grounds in a bowl with some water and heat it up. Let it set, then clean thoroughly.

After you do what Evelyn suggested, maybe a trip to the store for some special chocolate would help Big Grin. We had skunk smell in our house about four years ago and I thought we were going to have to sell the house! It seemed like it lingered f-o-r-e-v-e-r! The dog got sprayed before 6 a.m. one Sunday and I didn't realize until he was half-way back to his dog bed Frown.

If all else fails, start baking cookies, pies, cakes or something else in the regular oven to fill the house with pleasant scents. Of course, fresh air wouldn't hurt, but here it is 100°, so I would prefer to keep the hot air outside.

Good luck!

Burning candles also helps remove food odors, so it might work here too.

More time and open windows would help, if that's feasible.

I left the windows and doors open as long as I could, but supposed to be up to 110 this weekend. Don't know what it is now, don't want to know...just trying to keep kitties cool. The candles are a good idea...maybe some mulling spices on the stove. Already ate gourmet chocolate...now starting diet coke...maybe whine later...

Thanks for ideas...working on them all...at least it's not skunk...whew phew...hope it doesn't permeate quilts on walls... Eek

I have done the burn thing before...I used simple green (it is biodegradable) and it helps tremendously!
There is also another product that is wonderful it is Odoban...both are sold at Home Depot! Smile

Placing a few pieces of plain bbq charcoal OR
crumpled up newspaper in microwave should absorb lingering odors. Smile

I was going to suggest charcoal brickets but I see wannaquilt2 just beat me to it. A couple pieces of charcoal will soak up any odor. Very good to use in a room when you are painting or using anything with strong fumes.

For your house odors, have you tried spraying around some Febreze? I hope your'e not allergic to it. Those microwaves are wonderful aren't they, but with caution! Do not spray the Microwave, but you know that don't you?
Hope the smell clears out soon. Best of Luck to you. I ha te that when it happens, We've all done it some time or other.

cut some apples in half and set them around the house. Onions do the same but they stink too.

Wonder if a bowl of cat litter would help? My last oven popped corn in 3 minutes 40seconds. This new iven takes 86 seconds. We've burned lots of popcorn!

Well, I just burned my tea kettle to the point of melting the knob off the top and the enamel is flaking off the metal. The stink is what alerted me. I think it will take a while.......
