I think I've decided to go ahead & make my co-woker who will be retiring at the end of December a quilt. He loves golf & had thought about golf club covers, a golf themed steering wheel cover but have settled down to a quilt. I would like to make it golf themed but haven't decided on a pattern yet. I plan to make it a lap size quilt. Can I see some pictures? Thanks! Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

I made a string quilt for DH's friend and, since he's an avid golfer, had IndycatCarol quilt it using a golf motif. Let me see if I have a picture of the back. Nope, no picture of the back but it had golf clubs, tees, balls, etc. quilted into it. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Is this a pic of the back that you were looking for? You can see 2 golf clubs, a tee and flag. I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag. http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x189/indycatCarol/

My first idea is to use the 10 minute blocks...big blocks (faster the quilt, you know) You could make 9 (get it--9 holes of golf) blocks with different golf themed fabrics or maybe a sand trap or lake. You could use pretty green "grass" fabric for the strips and maybe even the back. I'll keep thinking. Maybe some golf people can help with ideas.

I did a Yahoo search of "pictures of golf quilts" and it pulled up quite a few. Make sure you click on the images tab, then you can see a whole gallery of golf quilts. Got some pretty ones.

Thanks for the help. I'm thinking of going with some golf ball fabric & making blocks using it & sashing in green. Now to figure out what block pattern to use. It can't be too time consuming as it's due by end of Dec. yet I don't want just a square either. I'll figure out something. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

I couldn't find a picture from my work computer of a golf fabric quilt someone in the company made. It was flannel fabric, so hers had larger blocks. Here is a favorite pattern for a focus fabric and two coordinating colors. It is a square of the focus fabric alternating with hourglass blocks. The blue squares would be your golf fabric. The pink and white would be the coordinating fabrics. If you stare at the blue fabric you will see a square in a square pattern. But when you stare at the pink (co-ordinating) fabric, you will see a star surrounding your focus fabric. ![]()

Hey Kay-lin, thanks for that layout. That might be a good pattern to use. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

What about warm wishes? Good for a focus fabric, a couple accent fabrics, and it pieces fast and easy. ~karen
