I'm working on a project for someone. Showed them the muslin of it yesterday & we made some design changes. I wrote a note with the changes, but was afraid I'd misplace that piece of paper in the sewing room's mid-project jumble. So I slipped it under the presser foot of my machine & lowered the foot on top of it.

BOY OH BOY, did that work -- that note under the foot was the FIRST thing I saw this morning in my sewing room! I didn't have to hunt down the note, and I sure didn't forget that I was supposed to make design changes today. So if you need a handy place to park a reminder note overnight, I HIGHLY suggest letting your machine hold it for you! Smile

My other thing to do is use the cabinet doors above my sewing desk as a bulletin board. I stick stuff up there with blue tape as I'm working on projects. But my eyes can get lazy & I forget that there's stuff up there I'm supposed to look at or refer to. And when I get a few things stuck up there together, suddenly things can get "lost" again. Not a chance of that happening when I parked that note under the presser foot!!!

Do you have clever ways to remind yourself about something in your sewing room?

I did that when I had surgery recently. Told my DH that if anything "bad" happened, there were some phone numbers of a couple of on-line friends that I wanted him to notify, taped to my sewing machine!

I taped notes to my teenage son to the handle of the fridge. I knew he and his friends would raid the fridge before doing anything else. Worked like a charm!

If I want my DH to read something I'll tape it to the front of the tv so it hangs over the front. One time I came home and he'd been watching tv around the note and didn't bother to get up to see what it said. Claimed he hadn't noticed it! He also can't find the salt and pepper even though we've lived in this house for 30+ years and it's always been on the bottom right side of the same cabinet shelf!

Got my machine back in the mail from a repair and he had several items stuck under the needle. I sure noticed them first.

Ha - sewing machines as message centers. Perfect! Smile

I find the older & BUSIER I get, the more things totally escape my mind. Good thing I'm already in the habit of writing myself notes & clipping notes to things (GAS reminder note to the car keys). I don't like forgetting things, but it happens. Only time it's good is when I stumble across fabric I forgot I bought, or something like that! Big Grin

Usually, it's pretty obvious what's going on in my sewing room. Right now, there are little boxes, rubbermaid containers and baskets EVERYWHERE! The quilt I'm working on has a lot of small pieces and they are all different sizes. There isn't room for a note, but if I need one I'm going to remember under the needle. No way I would miss it.

But, if I want my husband to see a note - it definitely gets hung on the tv. I leave very early in the morning (before 6) and he's not usually up, so if I need him to see a note, it's the only place he actually might notice it. I once taped a note to the coffee pot and he moved it, made his coffee, and put it back - all without reading it.

Starry Sky, I've been doing that for several years now because there's not a day that goes by that I don't go in my sewing room. It's also where my laptop is so I always see notes under my pressure foot.

Me too! I generally do my online banking at the laptop in my sewing room. I anchor bills and stuff under the presser foot...especially if I get interrupted and have more to do later.

Great idea - I tried putting up a dry erase board on gthe wall in my sewing room and noticed just the other day that the "notes to myself" had expired months ago..... Smile I may just try the presser foot idea - will only work for sewing related things - my sewing room is in the basement.... I have been known to use sticky notes on the bathroom mirror - first thing I see in the morning...

I will tape a note to myself around the handle of my purse, if there's something I HAVE to remember to take with me when I go out. My friend will take a tissue or napkin and spear it on her gear shift of her car if she needs to remember to get gas or change a tail light bulb, etc.

I put sticky notes at eye level on the bathroom mirror and the back door.

I also put them on the dashboard of my car — "bagels," "chicken salad," etc.

The note on the teapot works with my DH — I left him one that said "Dishes are clean." He put it back on the teapot "Dishes are put away" with a smiley face. He's such a sweetie.

Great way to remember! Thanks for reminding me.
I love the Presser foot idea and the others are not bad either!

Notes? You ladies have notes? I have lists. Boo hoo. Long lists at that. But it seems to be a revolving one so it works for me.
But for little notes, it generally goes on my purse, then on to the car seat as I get in the car so I don't miss it.
Now to find a note that will tell me WHERE in my purse I put my list!!!
