Welcome to the Sunshine Quilters - our website is listed at the bottom this note. Our mission is to bring SunShine into the life of our receivers.

Rosy is the dear lady who came up with this wonderful project, we are very thankful to her for this unselfish endeavor. And Char kept it going for a long time.

Each member is asked to make a block for the assigned hostess each month. The hostess then assembles and donates quilts to the charity of their choice. Some help by making more than one block for a hostess or by sending other supplies.

Some of our members have just started quilting, while others have been at it for a while. We can use everyone's help. You can choose to host a month and donate to the charity of your choice as well as making blocks to send out to listed hostess.

Blocks are to be sent to the hostess members around the 1st of their month. If late, email the member with your intentions to send later. If you can't make a block that month, that's ok, sometimes life is too busy. Post on the monthly thread and perhaps someone can send extra blocks to the hostess that month.

The hostess then should send me a photo of the completed quilt(s) for our photo album.

Quilter Chris - here's 4 blocks for December for you. I'll be mailing this week.

Also, for everyone, it I get enough blocks for January, I'll make another quilt for the QOV request for the 2013 retreat. So any help would be appreciated.

Edited to add, don't forget that KC still needs blocks for Oct and Nov.

It's been a gray day here so I thought I'd bring a little sunshine into my life by making blocks for Sunshine Quilters! I've already sent some to KC for Oct and Nov so I started with Dec. It is a quilter's choice month so I chose Antique Tile - a pretty but easy block. I made three of them and moved on to Jan. That block is easy too and since it's smaller than some choices, I made four. Now that you have mentioned making a QOV quilt if you get enough blocks, I'll try to make some more before mailing them. But first, I think I'll try to do some more for KC since she has hopes of making lots of quilts.

KC1930 can still use some blocks for November and QuilterChris is looking for blocks for December.

For 2013 - June and August are still available for hostesses. Just let me know the month and block selection with any instructions.

Here's the link to the previous month thread:

Thanks, Mary Lou! Yes, I have lots of quilts to make for the kids. I especially will lean to quilts for larger boys. They seem to be the ones most forgotten with charities.

Here is the ongoing tally for the blocks from October and November--all quilts made with these blocks will be donated to "Running Strong for Native American Youths." I'm hoping to make at least ten quilts, so any help you can give me would be much appreciated!

I will keep a tally of blocks donated and photos will be posted on the Sunshine album in my signature below.

KC, I had thought I would make a few more to send to you right away. Then I noticed that you are hostess again in April so I think I'll wait until then. But I will try to make quite a few.

I haven't hosted a month in a long time so I try to do more than one when I make blocks. I also am using up some of my stash for quilts - took 4 baby quilts and 2 kids quilt to donate last week.

ttt, In the big year-end rush to get things done, hopefully we can get blocks to the Nov and Dec hostesses for their charitable endeavor.

..eeek!! it was snowing when I got up - the ground was covered. Stopped already, but that was not expected.

November is coming to a close (already!) and December is fast approaching. Please get whatever blocks you can into KC and QuilterChris.

The 2013 schedule has been updated for October. Remember if you have any questions on the blocks requested, post it to the thread so everyone can have the benefit of an answer.

Thanks all.

Here's another quilt done from the September blocks. This will go to local children's home.

Have a few blocks left mixture of young male and older female. So will work on blocks to complete 2 more quilts.

Thanks for the blocks that had been received.

Just a question for you, Elainetoo, How do you know what kind of block to make? Also the colors and theme? I haven't looked at this thread before and I'm curious about it. Pat

Hi Pat. The link below to the blog will give you all the information and the block requirements.

Hope you decide to join us. All 2013 months are taken for hostesses, but each hostess can use all the block makers that want to participate.

KC1930 - I started a much needed clean up in my quilting room this morning and found the waste triangles from the Louisiana blocks I sent. Argh. I've put them in a baggie and will try my hardest to remember to send them with my Quiltville swaps.

Yes, Aliquilt, I could use all the blocks I can get (along with the HSTS). Many thanks!

Asimplelife, your six blocks arrived and I had to take a photo of them all laid out together. I have the perfect sashing fabric to bring it all together!

Thanks for the cute FQ and the money--you have swap credit for $3.30.
