HA HA! Cute as a button, material girl!!!

Going to grocery store right now to stock up on edibles to view by. Don't want to be cooking or washing dishes then.

Thanks for the reminder!!!

I missed last week as we were at a family reunion. I plan on watching starting at 8... the TV listing shows it's on then with, I'm guessing, the show that was on last week.
Very happy this is back!

I'm cooking my pizza now, zapping it later. Getting a project ready to work on for the commercials. Superbowl for sew-ers...

Little spoiler (which we kinda saw last week anyway, but don't read if you don't want any kind of spoil):

Tonight they go to Dylan's Candy Bar on 3rd Ave. to get stuff for the challenge.

I walked past Dylan's one time but didn't stop. It was on the other side of the street, and I was on my way up to the Marimekko store to get some real EYE candy. Wow, the fabrics there! Smile

I like the one that won and I agree with the one that went home. I was surprised that the judges agreed with my choices. Don't have a favorite yet. Nobody sticks out.

The one that won was gorgeous, but I was really turned off by the arrogance. Ewwww. I'm surprised the one that was let go didn't go last week. I think the English woman's spritely stuff is a hoot. The one that does mostly black made hers look like leather. Stunning.Oh and the Japanese guy..oh oh...I got so nervous for some of them that I color sorted and strung a whole jar of buttons. Don't even remember doing it. Better than eating a whole pizza!!!! Eek

Despite a Zumba class and a bit of chocolate Blizzard...with a neck wrap on...I fell asleep. I'll play it now, I promise.

I always laugh at Michael Kors' comments. I loved the one that won, it looked like a Crazy Quilt "rose" block! He is arrogant, though.
I was happy with the one that left. Actually the bottom two were a disappointment. It was a fun show. That candy store sure got some publicity! Ali

I was struck by the price of the candy. They were given a $250 budget and a fifty percent discount - so the could buy $500 worth of candy and one designer's tab was over $241 - that's $480 worth of candy! This challenge separated the good from the bad. Those who were good were fabulous, those who were bad were terrible. It really showed who was creative and had the abilities to construct their creations.

I thought the one who won should have won last week as well. If he hadn't won, I would have been turned off the rest of the season. It (his creation) was so well done, IMHO.

the two remaining dresses were equally ugly but I think I would be hard pressed to come up with some kind of a design in a candy store - the idea of stained glass was brilliant. However the designer needs an attitude adjustment

Not surprised @ the price of the candy -- it's NYC -- food/groceries are about double what you might pay at home. Plus it's a "boutique" candy store. It looked like they all bought more candy than they used, too.

Spoilers below, so stop reading here if needed.

My impressions:

Alicia - the romper with the white bra-thingy under it. Ugh. And what happened to the "dirt" she was going to put at the bottom?

Andrea - the dot apron with the bustle in back - DOUBLE UGH! I thought they would AUF her for sure.

Buffi - the woven top & pink skirt...all I could think of were the blue piddle pads from the pet store challenge. Judges hate those skirts!

Chirstoper - little black dress - OK.

Dmitry - black halter dress with the red & black & yellow gumballs (?) - LOVED it! Loved how he made fringe. Love how the fringe MOVED! He should have won. He felt the same way! The judged gave him no love. Frown

Elena - cream-colored licorice on the "lineman shoulder" dress - UGH - the candy didn't even stay on!! Did you notice that by judging, a lot of it was gone or about to go? She should have been shown the door.

Fabio - blue dress - loved it!

Gunnar - black & white checks, with peplum. Again, candy fell off. Peplum with the candy foil (?) was strange & wobbly. His attitude, stranger...

Kooan - cotton candy?! His was a mess. Too much going on. Are they keeping him around for laughs? I keep expecting him to admit that he only learned how to sew last week.

Lantie - umbrella outfit. Not so heinous given the materials, but less use of candy than the others, so they had every right to boot her. She should have gone last week, I thought.

Melissa - black licorice. I liked it! I wanted to know what she used to make the fabric on the top - it was so shiny - that wasn't muslin, or Fruit Roll-Ups!

Nathan - the Hershey Kiss-shaped outfit with the heavy skirt. Did you see the model trying to hold it as she walked? Not sure why the judges didn't pick him to tear apart.

Raul - blue dress - nice. Transformed the candy well.

Sonjia - blue dress with shark neckline. Cute. Loved the back, loved the use of color & texture. Wondered about the "beaver tail," though.

Ven - I didn't see why the judges went so crazy over it. Is he going to do a rose theme every week? And will the judges stand for that?

Stay tuned! What a crazy season!! I'm glad the "creative" challenge is behind them and they can go back to wrestling fabric. Next week...pairs? It'll never work! Wink

I agree with this - I was surprised there were no comments on this. They looked like real beads and really moved.
I also liked the gummy sharks because she didn't put them in rows, she gave them movement by placing them in a nore fluid pattern.

I thought that fringe was one of the best transformations of unusual material into trim that I'd ever seen on PR! I can't believe he accomplished all that in a day!!

Oh yeah...that actually was my favorite (couldn't remember his name)...I forgot it in the melee...I must have been in the loo on a couple of them...shoot! Thought I was glued to the tube there. The blue dress was GORGEOUS...so surprised it wasn't near the top. That 20 pound circular lampshade was something else. Where do they come up with this stuff??

Ralph Lauren's daughter was pretty. He's actually my favorite designer. So consistent and classic.

I liked many of the outfits and that fringey one was spectacular but I truly felt Van's (name?) should win as the shaping and stained glass effect was stunning. That rose came back again so I guess that's his signature. Very beautiful and so was the runner up's. I will be happy when the field gets narrowed down some; too many choices and OH the DIVAS!
