Miss Maggie participated in KC's swap due to end soon with the bricks being sent to me. The bricks are brights 3 1/2 x 6" I thought I would have enough B & W and W & B 2 1/2" squares but I was SO WRONG!! I've sewn all that I had already - have 78 4 patches made so far but I need about 180. I could cut from my stash but would prefer more variety.

I need about 90 2 1/2" black on white and 90 2 1/2" white on black squares. I would prefer the pattern to be distinctly white on the black or the opposite. I have some in my stash that won't work because the white and the black actually look grey and lose the pattern from a distance.

My plan is to have all the components ready for her birthday weekend (she'll be 10) - let her determine the placement of the components and then help with the sewing using a QAYG method. She loves the process of laying out all the components and creating her design.

So...would anyone be willing to trade 2 1/2" squares - I will reimburse you your postage.

Even if you have 5" squares with distinct B & W I can cut them down.

I can trade or reimburse you for cost or something else you need??

If you send me a PM I'll give you my email and snail mail address. I would like them ASAP - her weekend will be in mid April but this time of the year has me hopping so I only get short periods of time to sew. Hence the starting now Smile

Thank you in advance.

I had some BnW, predominatly black. Let me check to see if I've cut the fabric down when I was re-organizing or if it's still in larger pieces. If I do, you can have it, gladly. No reimbursement required. I got enough 'stuff'.

Last summer, I made a similar plea here and had fantastic response. Clarissa's quilt turned out great. I have quite a few fabrics left and will gladly share. I'll send a PM.

Good questions: I'm looking for variety so a whole stack of the same print is not good. I would say I would try not to use one print more than half dozen times though a couple over that would not matter in a quilt that is using so many.

Washed or not - If you know they have been washed just let me know; otherwise I can easily wash a sinkful - that small won't take long at all. I haven't seen much of an issue with bleeding with the BoW but sometimes with the W o B ones. Bottom line, I will assume they are not washed and give them a quick wash to make sure they aren't going to bleed. Thanks for asking.

You are all so generous - thank you so very much.

Jean - I knew you collected them - had no idea you had gotten so many Smile Am wondering...how on earth did you lose that many?? Smile I've actually used up quite a chunk of the B & W's in my stash (I do like using them, they make me smile) - maybe that's what I should focus on when we shop at the next retreat. Look forward to hearing from you.

● ● ● They weren't actually lost, just scattered throughout the studio. Some still in bags or a pile here and a pile there. A few still in the suitcases too. Eek I thought I was running out because they were scattered so much. Even contemplated having another swap, but never found the time to put it together. Now that they have been organized, it's great to see them all together.

If you post photos as they come in, then I can fill in what you need and avoid duplicates.

You know I've been thinking and thinking on what kind of border would potentially work the best on this quilt...I do believe I have it. Miss Maggie is going to get a lesson in very simple machine applique....I think the border that would be perfect is a solid (or reads as solid) darker color - I'll let her choose from the stash - with any extra squares interspersed in a whimsical/wonky manner onto that. How cool will that be!

I want her to reminded of the generosity of others every time she looks at it.

Bless all of you.

Royal -
its a gloomy overcast day here and I don't want to start a major project or iron so I found the FQ I won at B&W bingo one year and cut squares. Sorted them into black on white and white on black and one just didn't know which category it belonged to:

I can send a small assortment. I did a black and white quilt a few years back and I found the scraps. The fabric is not prewashed. I will leave the scraps larger than needed so you can wash then trim. I will need your address. No need to send anything back--I am happy to help you with this project! Amy

MaryAnn - thank you so very much - I have a few here that fit into the "don't know" pile as well - thought it was just me Smile

MaryLou - I haven't seen a fabric yet Miss Maggie doesn't love Smile

I'm glad I started on these now - it may take me to April to get them all squared up Smile She's going to have a ball in both the design phase and the sewing phase.

My 4 yr old DGD loves taking pieces of fabric and using my floor as her design wall. She was so excited last visit to turn a chinese coin scrap top into an I-spy game, finding pieces of "her" quilt in the strips. I think she may be my budding quilter-to-be. I just wished she lived closer.

Royalboomer - I don't have many B & W prints but please post if you need more and I will certainly send what I have.

I'm glad they made it! The strip with the 4 prints came from Ben Franklin in Oconomowoc. I bought that particular fabric a few years ago. I liked the idea of four small scale prints in a single cut. Amy

Amy - I didn't even realize there were still Ben Franklin stores here in WI. I think the four different prints in the one fabric is a wonderful idea -

My plan is to take some pictures tomorrow after I get home from FINALLY picking up my new glasses. I ordered them on Nov 14 (it was supposed to take a maximum of two weeks)- can you believe it? What a fiasco but it should be done by this time tomorrow. I won't go there again. I will be so glad - the temporary prism in the glasses I'm using now is really showing the wear and tear.

Have a great day tomorrow!!
